“Oh, come on,” Felix laughed. “What I have to offer is the chance for you to spend time in my incredible presence. Your life will be significantly improved with me in it. Most people’s lives are.” He raised his eyebrows at the teasing man. “I will resort to begging, and that’ll be equally embarrassing for both of us.”

It went without saying that alone…Amelia would’ve never ventured down these tunnels. But with Felix here, and his constant chatter, she felt at ease. Of course some of the things he spoke about intrigued her quite a bit, and she recalled Eli telling her about visiting Wonderland often and while she herself had never had the chance, she hoped once all this was over that she’d secure an invite for herself either alone or with her best friend. “Maybe there is, wouldn’t that be nice for you?” She said rather too quickly given how Felix told her that he didn’t want to leave this place, finding some enjoyment in it. “You know…you might be the only one,” she murmured, the thought never once crossing her mind that it was strange he actually liked to be trapped in this way. “They are!” She said hurrying in that direction and quickly descending the stairs, “oh that path looks long again…I wonder just how deep inside we are now…”

He followed her down the stairs, doing his best not to trip or miss any of the steps. “How deep we are-- I have absolutely no idea. The might be cutting underneath the castle, or a certain floor... like a secret short cut. Who knows. Do castles have... hearts, or lungs, or the like? I’ve never heard of that, but there are so many strange things in the world, I wouldn’t be surprised... Oof,” he suddenly exclaimed, tripping on his own feet as something sticking out of the wall to his right caught him on his arm. He had to pause to reestablish his balance on both feet before reaching out with his hands to feel the wall along the side of the stairs. He glanced down the stairs, which certainly went farther down, but.... “There’s a doorknob here,” he called down towards Amelia.

“That’s pretty cool though, that the beach is considered in the castle’s boundaries. We could be stuck in this castle all together with no sunshine or fresh air.” Frost commented. “I’ve been told they are fixing it though, that they might have fixed it already with magic.” He nodded. “Yeah I-I know but that’s why I am hiding in this corner, no one had really come up here beside you and Jasmine.” He admitted. “I hadn’t thought about that. I might try it out, thank you. You can come with me if you want, you seem like a nice person.”

"I imagine there’s some magic behind the fresh air. Otherwise we would have run out of air by now and all been smothered to death,” Felix replied semi-cheerfully. That was a good thing, after all. He supposed the beach would look significantly different once all the debris was picked up. “You might be right-- i haven’t been out there in a few days to see it.” Awwww, poor thing, stuttering and everything, Felix thought. He really did seem nervous. “I’d love to come with you. I’m not really sure if I’m properly nice or not, but I’m glad I seem to be. I’m Felix,” he said, sticking his hand out to shake. “You seem timid but genuine, and I can work with that.”

“Mhmm, that’s what I love about it too. There’s so much depth. No pun intended,” He grinned wide as the door clicked open, eager to keep moving. If the lock picking had taken more than another few seconds, he likely would have intervened with a bit of magic. He only had so much patience. He slipped through the door, shivering slightly. The temperature was much cooler down this corridor. “Well, I think if there are any secret passageways or really, any secrets about this castle at all, they’re likely to be down this hallway. It feels very secret, doesn’t it?”

Depth. Ocean. "Ha.” He followed the other man once he slipped past and through the now-unlocked door. There was a bit of a draft-- clearly they were getting either farther underground or farther towards the sea. “It does seem very secret, with all that... mmm... chilly, mysterious energy. I haven’t been this far down here, for sure... and if anyone else had been down here, the door wouldn’t have been locked,” he said, keeping up a steady stream of chatter. “So we’re headed somewhere only people with keys have, which is a good sign. Or interesting, if not exactly good.”

Looking up at Felix when he mentioned that he didn’t have to apologize, he nodded at him before frowning in confusion. “A beach?” He asked curiously. He didn’t know they were able to do that inside of the castle, that was something new. He knew there was a garden but every time he would go out there, there were a lot of people and he would retreat back. “I-I get nervous around people.” He admitted shyly. “So, I’ve been kind of n-nervous to leave the corner of the castle to explore more.”

"Yes-yes-yes, it’s right outside the castle! Castle, rocks, sand, sea. In that order,” he counted off on his fingers. “But in the very tight space on the castle grounds... still inside the magical bubble boundaries. Oh, it’s lovely, all littered with debris from that pesky earthquake.” He evaluated the other man’s face when he very shyly admitted to getting nervous around others-- seemed about right, based on his interaction at the moment. “Understandable. Lots of people in quite a small-ish space, right now... bit difficult to avoid entirely no matter where you go, right? Hmmmm... did you try going to the gardens in the middle of the night? I bet it’s deserted then,” he suggested, eyes flashing enthusiastically at the thought. “And gorgeous in the light, moon shadows and all.”

"I can’t say I’m as excited about that as you seem to be,” the ever-friendly Felix said with an unblinking, enraptured stare at the stranger’s strange, almost hypnotic hand movements that accompanied his speaking. It was like his fingers were dancing-- how curious. “I don’t really read. I do know how,” he clarified, craning his neck to get a glance at the cover of the book on architecture that the other man was holding, “Though ‘graphic novel’ doesn’t sound too boring, I admit...”

“they honestly aren’t that hard to find,” began the prince, who had definitely scavenged the passages out the moment they arrived, before he even knew they were trapped, and possibly how he found out that fact too. though he didn’t tell many people that in effort not to get yelled at. “am i really volunteering if i’m offering to just show you where they are?” came his joking reply.

"Volunteers for a different-but-still-related venture are still greatly appreciated.” Felix grinned at the unfamiliar man. Not-too-hard-to-find, pshhhh. “Are you offering to show me where the are, or are you just going to dangle that in front of me and then make me suffer through searching on my own?”

Frost didn’t really like the idea of being stuck in a castle, he was an outside kind of guy. He liked to be under a tree, watching the beautiful weather and reading a book for hours on end. However, being in this castle was going to drive him to stir crazy if he let him, so here he was, in a corner of the room reading his book and trying to imagine himself being outside and under a tree. “Sorry, I’m trying to imagine I am o-outside.” He admitted when he noticed someone blocking his light. “Being stuck in here is kind of affecting my mental h-health.”

"...Ooooooookay?” Felix asked, oblivious to the fact that he was standing in the other man’s light and therefore remaining exactly where he’d been previously standing. “You don’t have to apologize for that-- after all, lots of people enjoy the outdoors. I’d wager a guess that at least sixty-to-seventy-three percent of people prefer some form of outside rather than inside. Forests, desert, oceans, et cetera,” he listed off in a friendly drawl, before pointing over his shoulder and continuing to chatter. “Did you know there’s a beach just over there, walking distance and all? Gardens too. Wizard’s been putting fish back in the pond and all, or something along those lines... regardless, plenty of ‘outside’ to be had, even if it’s slightly... limited.”

“Only one worth mentioning,” Caleb shrugged, there were other hunters, sure, but pretty much everyone knew who his dad was because of his connection to Snow White. “Max?” Caleb guessed, more because he only knew one blonde prince wandering around. “I’d rather die fighting, than be cursed to some kind of limbo,” he shrugged, he didn’t want to be unable to fight back, whatever happened. As they approached the trees, Caleb readied his bow, picking a spot to shoot from. “Anyone out there? Speak now, or risk becoming swiss cheese,” he yelled out into the trees, just in case anyone was back there. He glanced at his companion. “Safety first,” he explained.

Felix only shrugged. If the guy had mentioned his name, he surely didn’t remember it. “Well, I’m glad some of you are up for taking on the fighting, you know, on behalf of rest of us.” Or if not on behalf, then in place of. He followed the other man and stood a fair distance away as he prepared his bow, or whatever. “Have you ever shot a real person, either on purpose or accidentally?” he asked, curiosity evident in his voice, after the other man completed his safety call. “I’d be a shame if someone back there was deaf and didn’t hear you, but I imagine that does happen every now and then...”

“starve. now i don’t think anyone would let us starve. they might just have to deal with being fed out right out of the spoons they serve us.” ruby was much more pleasant when she wasn’t upset. her nerves made her an incapable mess but this male had made it more than easy to fall back into her happy-go lucky personality that she fit into. her smirk grew as she lifted up a little tea saucer that managed to make it. “huh, looks like you are more trouble then i first thought aren’t you little one.” she said with a giggle. “look now you are having me talk to the dishes.” looking at felix she tilted her head. “bowls… can’t they give someone a terrible haircut though? that is pretty evil if you ask me.”

"In times of trouble, everyone must deal,” he nodded, amused by her commentary as he continued watching her giggle at the tea saucer. “Nothing wrong with talking to inanimate objects every once in a while. They might someday become animate, after all, couldn’t they? And then you’ll have a whole posse of new friends.” He couldn’t stifle a laugh at her note about the bowl cut. “You’ve got me there. I had, thankfully, forgotten about the bowl cut. Hello by the way, my name’s Felix,” he briefly added. “Now smash all the bowls to pieces, prevent such an atrocity from ever again occurring.”

It went without saying that at this point of their adventure…she wasn’t so sure that she was entirely on board. It was turning int something a lot more real and thought she thought she was like her mother, she’d barely done anything adventurous in life which was why she’d jumped up at this offer from Felix. Now she was left watching and listening to him and wondering why she couldn’t muster up the same excitement. Luckily though, his excitement was slightly contagious and so she nodded along with him, knowing that the possibilities truly were endless for where this tunnel would lead. “That sounds good, I mean…we could even hopefully find something that might help us with this whole entrapment?” She was feeling slightly more hopeful now until he’d said that they could split up. She’d been about to argue that…until she realized they’d discuss it when it got to that point. “Alright let’s go,” she began taking a few more confident steps towards the faint light that was illuminating these tunnels.

"That’s a good point! Like a, hmmm, magic-bubble dissolver, that everyone’s just conveniently forgotten about. Or not-so-conveniently, if someone-behind-it-all’s the one who hid it. Or a teleporting pad. You know, I tried to get back to Wonderland the way I usually do just to see if I could, but it seems that even portals are shut. But maybe there’s a mega-magic one through here somewhere,” he considered as they continued down the tunnel. “Not that I would want to duck out on this whole adventure now. Don’t tell anyone, but it’s interesting being trapped... This sort of thing doesn’t happen every day.” He didn’t want to go spreading that around, though-- some people were so touchy about the whole thing. He squinted down the hall towards where there was a twinge of light. “Oooh, are those stairs up ahead? I've got terrible eyesight in the dark--I can’t quite tell.”

Max stared at Felix for another few seconds before words came tumbling out of his mouth. He jumped up off the newly restored garden bench, looking fierce. “Why should you tell anyone else? I don’t know, maybe because our lives are in literal danger! Maybe because running and hiding from this, of all things, is pretty cowardly? Sure, get in good with whoever might be behind this, save your own keester. The rest of us will just wait for the castle to cave in and off us all.”

"I said it was cowardly, didn’t I?” Felix said slowly, watching the other man jump off the bench, apparently heated for some reason. “I believe ‘cowardice’ was the exact word I used, so I’m well aware. And yes, I really would rather save my own keester, as you put it. If that’s at all possible, not that I’m much pressed about it yet.” He snorted before adding, “Wouldn’t you? What’s the other option--not save yourself? Or run around panicking about how you don’t know how what to do, I suppose. That’s not for me. Better to go with the flow.”
