Kai : Don't Give Up [Scenario]
“Angel! I got you something!” Kai hollered happily as he came through the door, grinning widely when he had easily spotted you on the sofa. There’s my angel, he thought. He gently kicked the door shut before he danced his way towards you with him holding onto a medium sized box with two hands. He smiled like a little kid for doing something right when he placed the box of chocolate cake on the table, smiling down on you heavenly.
“Guess what’s in the box?” He chimed, kneeling down where he was only met with a silent response when you didn’t say anything. Your eyes were avoiding his as your head hung low, fingers fiddling with one another nervously and that’s when he felt a deep tug in his heart, but he continued smiling when you weren’t at all. His hands placed on your knees where he made you flinch but you managed to keep eye contact away from him. “K-Kai, could you take a seat?” You asked quietly in a hushed voice.
Suddenly the atmosphere was switched and flipped over just like that. You sounded so fragile and so soft that it made Kai ponder upon what had happened when he left. Gulping, he didn’t dare to question anything else when he got up just to slide on the sofa where he sat down beside you as calm as he could – trying his absolute best not to show you that he was actually afraid with what you were going to say.
You held your breath when his hand was holding onto yours, he laced them together with his eyes glazing with worry as he stared at you. “A-Angel, what’s wrong…?” He croaked out unsurely, not liking one bit of what was bound to happen but he knew he had to remain calm.
You swallowed hard and gave his hand a tight squeeze, not really sure on how you should phrase your words but you decided to close your eyes shut. Kai gasped silently, heart pounding as he turned you by your shoulders when he swore he could see that you were going to cry. He wanted to prevent that so badly even though he didn’t know what was about to come. His lips quivered as he framed your cheeks, lifting your face up so he could see your face clearly even with your eyes shut.
He shifted closer, thighs pressed against yours close before he whispered on your lips, “Angel… What’s wrong?”
You didn’t know how you could face him as you said this, which is why you kept your eyes shut as you spoke. “Remember that time you told me, you loved me no matter what?”
He frowned, eyebrows furrowing as he nodded once determinedly, “Yes, angel. I love you with all my heart.” He shook your face delicately, “Please look at me and speak.”
You shook your head, brushing his hands away before you tried to turn away but he kept you in place when his hands were firm on your shoulders. “Angel…” He rasped while you pressed your eyes shut tighter, “And remember you said that you will never find any other girl?”
Kai was left speechless, he was so shocked yet terrified with what was going to come. Why were you acting like this?
“Y-Yes, angel. You know that from the bottom of your heart but please,” He rubbed circles under your eyes carefully, “Please tell me what’s going on.”
You licked your lips uncertainly before letting them part – Kai could see how nervous you were when your fingers were still playing with one another, lips trembling as if you were shivering cold. Kai’s final plead to you made you blurt out everything, “Please…”
“I… I have cancer.” You muttered painfully, lips sealing shut after that. Kai felt his heart falling down to the floor as he stared at you. With his hands shaking on your shoulders, he gripped on tighter, lips parted in disbelief, “W-What?”
“I’ll be going for surgery in a few days and… the doctor doesn’t know if it’s the risk I should take because the cancer cells are spreading in my body. He’s going to try his best to remove it all and I’ll be going for radiotherapy after that if I…”
Your eyes finally opened, meeting his sadly, “If I survive.” Your voice grew quieter.
Kai’s lips couldn’t close, his eyes glazed with deeper worry and you could’ve almost seen a tear rolling down his cheek but he blinked the tears away. You sniffed a little, bringing him to his senses as you brushed his hands off your shoulders just to hold onto them on your lap where you sighed. “So, I guess it’s best that…”
“That we…” You added in, not sure if your heart can take it if you were to say these words but you had no chance to when Kai crushed you in his embrace, arms wrapped around your figure tight with him burying his face in your hair. “No,” Was the first word he said after what you had told him.
“No,” He repeated that word again, with more pain this time.
“No.” The final word he said, arms tugging around you tighter as his voice contained more despair – he felt so hurt as he hugged you as if today was the last day he was going to. “I’m not letting you go because of this, you can’t leave.” He muttered into your hair, pulling away where he looked down on you, in tears as he wiped your tears away with his thumbs even though he needed someone to do it for him, “You’re going to go for that surgery and I’ll be waiting. You’ll be fine and you’ll go through the radiotherapy. I’ll be here every step of the way.” Kai sounded so desperate, so needy as he muttered these words of love but he meant every single one of it.
He then resulted to kissing your lips once hurriedly before he leaned his forehead against yours, a tear finally escaping his eye as it rolled down his cheek, “And you’ll be fine after that. We’ll live our life with the promises we made and we’re going to make every one of it into a reality.”
You didn’t want to crash his hopes and dreams – nor did you want to burn yours but you didn’t want him to have false hope.
The doctor had already warned you that this surgery can either resolve everything, or it could make everything worse.
What if something went wrong during the surgery? What if your body couldn’t take it? What if by the time the doctor tried to do something, something bad would happen? What if you didn’t survive even after the surgery?
What if you couldn’t have your happily ever after with Kai?
You didn’t know what to expect…
Your head shook on it’s own with a sigh, “K-Kai, we can’t just assume everything will be fin-“
“Well it will be!” He raised his voice as it cracked in the middle – it finally showed you that Kai is deeply hurt by this. “And why didn’t you tell me?! Why didn’t you tell me earlier so that I could cherish my days even more with you?!”
His hands moved to shake you by your shoulders vigorously, “Tell me why!”
“Because now I’m left to just a few more days with you. A few more days until you go for the surgery and there’s not much I can do with you!”
Your breathing grew shallower, eyes staring at Kai sadly as you didn’t know what to say. You never knew he would react like this but it was only because he loved you so much. He couldn’t bear to lose you; never in a million years, he would never want you to be gone from his life.
“I didn’t want you to worry.” You whispered and he resulted to crying when his damp of tears in his heart broke. The deep realization of losing you, of not being able to see you everyday, of not being able to hold you in his arms, not being able to kiss you, hug you, make love to you, not being able to even build a family yet with you, of not being able to see your gorgeous face when you smile, laughed and giggled because of him; of not having his angel by his side.
It all made him cry harder.
“I don’t want you to leave me.” He sobbed while you hushed him, eyes closing to prevent the incoming tears when he buried his face in the crook of your neck, damping your skin with his heartfelt tears.
“I don’t want to leave either, Kai…” You mumbled quietly and he sniffed on your neck, lifting his chin where you could see the redness in his eyes but you couldn’t say anything when he spoke, “Then promise you’ll fight for me. Fight through this cancer – for me. For us. Please just… please…”
He shook his head with a small hiss, “I can’t bear to lose you, angel. I can’t. I don’t want to.”
You nodded once with a small frown, hands creeping up to wipe his tears away, “I promise.”
Your eyes closed again when he tugged you in his arms where he kissed the side of your head, still calming himself down while you did the same to stop crying. Your arms gingerly went around his body to have him closer when he whispered, “Don’t you dare give up.”
