pairing : student!sunghoon x gn!reader (should be at least)
sypnosis - you were a very popular girl to say the least, almost every boy wanted you, but why did he not want you?
wc : 1.3k! (wow)
warnings : mentions of throwing up (no actualy throwing up!), kissing, guy can’t take no, swearing
a/n : this is so bad, i rushed it bc i lost motivation in the middle sorry guys 😜😜 also this is for sunghoon’s birthday :)
not proof read!
you shuffled into the classroom, placing your bag down and taking the needed materials out.
soon a familiar black haired man sat in front of you.
sunghoon, you smile, breathing out. you take out your phone, opening the camera app and fixing your hair.
fuck, why does my hair look so bad today?
should i tie my hair up? yeah i should.
you glance at your wrist for a hair tie, of course you don’t have one today. you internally roll your eyes, turning around to look behind you.
“hey do you have a hair tie?” she glances at her wrist.
“oh sorry i don’t have one” she says sadly.
“oh don’t be sorry!” you say frantically, noticing her expression, “it’s totally fine!” giving her a thumbs up smiling, you turn back to see sunghoon looking right at you.
“oh!” you say startled, “do you need anything?” god this is so embarrassing.
“oh yeah, i have a hair tie.” he says flatly, taking it off his wrist, handing it you.
“thank you so much!” you smile at him feeling your face turn hot as he turns around.
that was like your first interaction! you mentally celebrate as the teacher walks in, starting the lesson.
-
the library had always been your favorite and most practical place to study. but obviously you weren’t a genius for studying there as students crowded the library. you grab a textbook looking around for a small empty table. to your luck, you found one placing your stuff down and putting on your headphones.
you groan internally as soon as you open the book, who decided to even make students learn this? you skim through each page, trying to incase all the information in your brain. until someone sits down in the empty seat across from you.
glancing up as you pause your headphones.
“hi y/n, you busy tonight?” a boy sits across from you, arms on the table as he leans towards you confidently.
“yeah i actually am, why?” you weren’t busy, just not willing to go to any party or date this night.
“because we have a date tonight, so that might be keeping you busy,” he says smirking.
you almost laugh at his attempt, giving him a raised eyebrow.
“who said that?” you ask playfully, maybe you could have a little more fun before blowing him off.
“me, obviously, didn’t you just hear? we’ll go to the cafe near *random park name* okay?” he says, TOO confidently.
“umm, maybe not, i really hate cafes. maybe next time!” you sarcastically smile at him, hoping he got the hint.
“oh come on! not even with me?”
“even worse,” you answer rolling your eyes.
“whatever man, you’re never going to get a man being that picky!” he exclaims, earning some stares from other students.
“then so be it” you shrug continuing to read.
-
when you said you hated cafes, that was a complete lie, because how could anyone hate them? you pull open the doors, glancing at the menu, just to make sure they have your drink.
walking up to the cashier you look down at the menu taped to the counter.
“hi what can i get for you?”
wait, you know that voice.
raising your head to see sunghoon, smiling at you.
“hi sunghoon! could i get an americano please?” you blush, wondering how you didn’t stutter.
“yeah, is that it?”
“yup!” you smile at him, this time he smiled back.
sliding your debit card into the tablet, as you try to make conversation.
“oh! i still have your hair tie!” you grab your arm but he somehow beat you to it.
“oh it’s okay!” hes holding my arm right now??!.?:?:(‘
“wait you don’t want it back?” surprised, you take out your card inserting it back into your wallet.
“nah, i don’t like when other people have used my hair tie.”
“oh okay! thank you!” you walk away, waiting for your drink, you scroll on social media for a little bit until your name gets called, as you grab your drink and walk out until someone abruptly stops you.
“y/n! i thought you didn’t like cafes!” of course, it’s the guy from the library.
“oh i do, i just don’t like you.” you shrug trying to move around him.
“not so fast, give me your number first.”
“look i don’t want to give it to you, leave me alone.” you stay sternly.
“god just give me-“ you flinch as he tries to grab your phone, when a hand grabs the guys arm.
“dude they said leave them alone, you hear?” oh shit it’s sunghoon.
they argue for a little bit until the guy leaves but you weren’t really paying attention, was he ever that muscular?
“you okay?” he asks.
“oh y-yeah i am, thank you” you answer, he smiles and heads behind the counter as you leave the cafe.
-
it had been a week since that interaction and homecoming was soon, almost everybody asked you. but of course, sunghoon hadn’t. it was like he was avoiding you to this day, you couldn’t even properly say thank you!
you brought some homemade cookies as a thank you (and gift) for sunghoon.
you walked into the classroom to see sunghoon already there! he looks at you and you wave, but for some reason he doesn’t wave back.
that’s embarrassing, you think, stopping by his desk.
“hi?” he almost glares.
“i just want to thank you for the other day” you say, smiling warmly.
“okay, your welcome.” he says uninterested.
“oh well here,” you shove the box on his desk, “i hope you like them”. he nods and you head to your desk.
why was he being so rude? wasn’t he being so nice to you at the cafe? or did he only do that because he had to? if that’s it, why did he let you keep his hair tie? the teacher stepped in, trying to draw in everyone’s attention, so you put your thoughts aside and picked up your pencil writing down the date in your notebook.
-
“hey sunghoon, are you going to hoco?” jake wraps his arm around sunghoon, engulfing him in a side hug.
“no, i don’t even have a date.”
“c’mon man! i’m sure you could find one, you’re attractive and you have a great personality!”
“thanks, but i’ll go if you don’t have a date.”
jake smirked, “lucky for you, i haven’t asked anyone. i’ll see you there!” jake excitedly hurried away, telling his newfound information to the rest of the friend group. sunghoon turned to see you, walking to your friends, you turn to look at him, a red color filling your cheeks as you turn away. he smiles warmly to himself, boldness filling him as he walk up to you.
“hey y/n, could i talk to you for a minute?” he asked, wondering how he didn’t sound nervous.
you, flustered as ever, answer “oh, sure! i’ll be right back!” you say to your friend, walking around the corner with him.
“so i was wondering, if you wanted to go to homecoming with me?”
you face turns red, your words turn rushed, vomiting them out.
“yeah i’d love to go with you! considering i have a crush on you-“, he looks at you in disbelief.
“what did you just say?” he asks, in shock.
“oh.” you answer, god you rambled so much. “i have a crush on you.” you squeeze out. he leans forward, “what? i couldn’t quite hear you.” his shocked face turning into a smirk. on instinct you step back.
“it’s okay if you don’t like me back! i just think you’re really cool and-“ you’re cut off when you feel his soft lips on yours. you close your eyes enjoying the moment as you wrap your hands around his neck. until you pull away, as red as a tomato.
“so, i’m guessing you like me back?”
“i guess so.”
“then why were you so mean to me in second period the other day?”
“i guess i just had a bad morning that day.” that must be why he was so rude to you that day.
“did you like my cookies at least?”
“yeah, they made my day better.” he smiles, giving you another kiss.
SYNOPSIS: As stupid as it sounds, you were failing math, well more like your teacher was failing you. After your parents visited the school countless times, he still wouldn't budge. After it seemed like an eternity, he came up with a compromise. Lee Heeseung would be your tutor for the rest of the year, but what if that so-called tutor of yours, makes your heart beat differently around him, and he feels the same way?
Genre: Fluff, Crack, High school au, Tutor!Heeseung x reader!
Word count: 1.4k
Warnings: Swearing, mentions of food, a little mention od death (if theres anything else please lmk!)
Everything was written out for you. Literally - the big red F scribbled in your teacher's messy handwriting. You were failing.
This wasn't the first nor last F you'd be getting in math but the fact that the school year was ending wasn't helping at all.
Burring your head in your hands, a big frustrating sigh escaping your lips, you knew exactly how you'd be starting a conversation with your parents when you got home. The same old "It's not my fault my teacher is a dick" - they were used to it. But it really wasn't your fault.
Your teacher didn't even care to elaborate the unit before shoving a test in your faces, so the only blame was on him.
The feeling of leaving that dreadful classroom is something that will haunt you until your death. A weight lifted off your shoulders but with the side effects of sleepiness and a headache - now met with a feeling of guilt knowing you'd be showing up home with another F.
It's not like your parents were strict, at first they didn't believe a teacher could be that bad.
Oh, how were they wrong. They came home one afternoon after a conference with your school, figures. You could only listen to the same old story you had, how your teacher simply didn't care. With a smug grin coating your face you could only shrug your shoulders.
"Don't worry y/n, we'll sort it out" was all your mother could say with a calm voice through her expression gave it away- she was tired of this topic being brought up every day.
You were tired.
"Have a nice rest of your day everyone" as your teacher's voice rang through the classroom - "y/n and Heeseung, please stay for a few minutes I need to talk to you"
you honestly didn't know what he wanted, the anticipation was killing you
was this another brutal punishment for just existing? it sure seemed like it
"as you've noticed you're very close to failing my class"
"uh, yes?" you're trying to stay polite as possible but in all, you're very close to choking your teacher to death over the fact that he shamelessly causally brings up your failure in front of Heeseung.
"well, I have a solution for you, heeseung will be your tutor for the rest of the year, with this I hope to see improvement in your grades and studies" with that he just left the classroom
"i'm so sorry for bringing into this" - slapping your hands to your face as you heard heeseung chuckle, walking out of the classroom too
"it's ok, though, you owe me big time for this"
Heeseung was one of the top students in your class so you see why your teacher chose him to tutor you, but did he really chose a student to teach you instead od doing it himself? yes, yes he did.
the fact that he dared to walk out of class, not even asking Heeseung if he was ok with this made you feel even more sorry for him.
though heeseung's reaction gave you some hope that you might actually fix your grades this year without bothering him too much
"focus y/n, this is pretty important" - the library was filled with your soft giggles and laughs trying to focus on the material laid out in front of you
though it was hard with heeseung joking every few seconds only adding fuel to the fire, making his previous joke even funnier by the second
leaning back on the chair, sighing, and wiping the stray tears past your face from laughing
"soo, how do you get good grades? I mean- how can you know all of this stuff without the teacher explaining it to you" - you started at him while he let out a laugh
"my dad explained this stuff to me, there's no way i could pass this class without his help"
"yeah, that makes a lot more sense" brows furrowing, thinking about all the times you begged your parents to explain, though no one remembers what they did in high school unless they majored in it
the room has now gone silent, you two barely did anything this past hour, talking and cracking jokes. as you were trying to review the lecture in your head, Heeseung started packing his notes
"is that all?" you tilted your head to the side
"well that's kinda all i planned for today, he made it seem like you were stupid, but you're a surprisingly fast learner" he shot you a warm smile as he continued packing
"thanks! i need to repay you though" packing your things to waiting for his response
"i see no need but if you want we can go get ramen?"
"sure but i'm paying!" you nodded as heeseung let out a soft laugh, making your way out of the library.
on your way to the nearest place that served ramen - which wasn't that far from campus.
you both talked like you've known each other for years. yes, you have known him by exchanging a few words in the hallways but you've never had the chance to get to know him
he's pretty loud but usually louder when around his friends, admired by some girls that pass by him in the hallways
"ah so this is why you chose belift, ramen place is really close!" you were joking of course but his silence that later turned into a loud laugh told you your suspicions were true
"well kinda, i like the atmosphere here too you know?"
making your way inside and finding your seats, you had fun with heeseung
he was very different, in a good way
how he tried to keep the conversation going at all times and always had something new to bring up
in the end, he didn't let you pay which led you to playfully nudging him.
it reminded you of when parents fight for the bill at dinner parties, it was an entire comedy show watching them
"why didn't you let me pay, we made a deal" you crossed your arms and he just let out a chuckle
"no it's fine, math is pretty easy anyways" he just shrugged his shoulders
walking out you realised the sun was setting
"well i should be getting home"
"i can walk you if you want, there's a lot of idiots in this area, don't worry though i'll beat them up" he punched his fists at the air playfully
"sure why not" you let out a laugh
as heeseung walked you home, the ombre sky behind you both, you stole a glance at him and admired his features.
you weren't going to lie, he was outstanding, though you couldn't stare long. looking away you realized you were a few houses away from your own.
"that's my stop, thanks a lot!"
"you're welcome, see you tomorrow y/n!" he waved you off as he made his way home.
you weren't sure why but that afternoon with heeseung left you out for breath, not because of all of that walking you did but the fact that heeseung made you feel.. warm inside the entire time
those little laughs and smiles that went your way felt like you were safe. safe from the world, free from all judgment - which you sure you got because you were acting like a bunch of idiots laughing every five minutes.
how you felt comfortable around him despite not knowing him as well as others.
every little action of his left you thinking about that night for hours
You felt frozen in place.
Another thing that will hunt you till death is the fact that your professor loved to embarrass you in front of everyone. usually asking questions he knows you can't do because you per usual, didn't go through that unit, then talking about how bad of a listener you are.
and now he called you on to answer something you had no idea about.
you were about to say that you didn't understand, knowing this would end in a lecture before you felt someone tap your shoulder.
it was heeseung, showing you his answer from his notebook.
good thing he moved heeseung next to you this morning, it was a big surprise to see him in your partner's seat but you just went with it.
"uh.. bcx=a?" honestly, you weren't even sure how he got it, but the priceless look on your professor's face when he saw you got it right made you more confident in his answer
scratching his head and mumbling a small "how.." was something you could laugh for hours at, you were sad no one filmed him
"uh.. great job y/n, i can see heeseung's tutoring is helping you a lot"
"oh no professor, this is all y/n's work, we haven't covered this yet" he shot him a cocky-like grin, while your professor on the other hand looked tomato red from rage
"oh" he turned to the board, continuing his "lecture"
heeseung shot you a wink while you mouthed a "thank you" sighing in relief
You were in love.
Yes, maybe you had some feelings for Lee Heeseung. Well more than maybe, but it wasn't your fault he was attractive.
The way his eyes managed to meet yours as he just rambled during class, your heart felt warmer and you feel as if your insides are doing cartwheels. Your eyes lingered, gazing into his for just a moment longer.
While he endlessly explains on and on about the lecture. Instead of looking at your work, your eyes were on him. Nodding passively, admiring that pretty face of his.
The fact that he never let you pay for anything after hours of insisting but he still wouldn't budge.
Your breath hitches when he pulls you by the sleeve, saving your ass from humiliation once again.
The sound of his laughter ringing through your ears was music to your ears. The way he buried his head into his hands to drown it out had you wrapped around his finger.
Everything about him, even the little things he did that made your heart melt.
The sad part was that you two wouldn't talk as much after the school year.
Well, that is - if your professor keeps messing around with your grades next year.
For now, you can just hope he feels the same way.
"how's math going, sweetheart?" your mom asked leaning over the counter
"pretty well, i have one more tutor session with heeseung and that would be it for this year" you smiled, and now the realization hit you, this would be your last tutor session of the year.
you had fixed your grades to the maximum, an A+
you weren't sure why heeseung called you over to the library even though the school year was practically finished
you were sure you went through the five stages of grief on the walk to the library well you were still on the 4th - depression.
seeing heeseung stand in front of the library made you question this even more and now you realized this was the last time you'd be this close with heeseung
in the hallways, you two would never really talk, both too occupied to chat unless it was in math
all that rambling to your cat on and on about how you two would grow old and die together because of a simple conversation you two shared.
"hi y/n" - his gorgeous smile beamed in front of you, up close you could see the features that made up his pretty face
"hi! what did you call over me for?"
one more second and you were going to burst, you don't know if it's from the fact that you'd miss him or because he was too damn cute to look at
"well i have this for you"
and envelope and a folded up piece of paper
"there's an equation on the paper you can solve and then open the envelope, it's a surprise!"
you opened up the paper to which he didn't oppose to
you chuckled a little, it was a really simple equation
"really? this is it?"
you stared at the paper in disbelief
"9x - 7i > 3 (3x - 7u)" in heeseung's handwriting
he just nodded, he looked tense
"well, i'll leave you to it! see you around y/n! you were fun to tutor this year" you looked up at him as he patted your back making his way past you slowly, he looked like he was in a rush
"thanks! it was fun having you tutor me. I hope to see you around again" your voice was barely above a whisper saying that last sentence, you were going to miss him
you smiled, looking back one more time, as you both went your separate ways
you made your way home, hearing your mom's voice coming from the living room
"welcome back y/n, home early?" - she tilted her head and smiled, as you softly nodded, putting away your things
"want anything to eat dear?" you pulled the envelope and paper out of your pocket, ignoring your hunger whole curiosity gets the best of you
"no, i'll eat later" you practically ran across the room, grabbing a pen to do the equation
it didn't take long for you to do it but once you did, your breath hitched
the answer
"i <3 u" you felt a knot in your gut
your first thought was that he was messing around but after recalling his actions as he handed you the envelope, it didn't quite seem like it
he'd joke around a lot but this didn't quite seem like any of his tricks, and you weren't hoping it was one either
grabbing and opening the envelope you were met with a letter inside
"Hi y/n, I'm guessing you've answered my equation, may be used photomath or maybe you've opened the letter before without telling me, it's ok I'm not mad" you chuckled to yourself at his behavior, he's joking around while almost giving you a heart attack
"The point I'm trying to get across is, I like you, I really do. it's hard putting my feeling onto paper. this is my 5th attempt so far, and I'm hoping it will be my last because my hand is cramping so bad right now. but yes, it's true I like you like I don't know how this happened to be honest.
I just realized that you're too adorable, I feel like I'm getting a break from the world when I'm with you, my only focus is on you, and I like it that way. I could stare into your eyes forever and I get so worried you would notice out of fear you don't like me back. you have no idea how nervous I am to give you this, Jake told me to "man up and confess to you already".
I kinda wish I hadn't told them I like you, but it is what it is, the damage has been done. back onto you, you make my heart flutter, y/n, as cheezy as it sounds it's true.
and as for repaying me, you can repay me by going out with me? if you want to of course! it's your choice
you already have my number, so i hope you say yes, if not, there's no need to repay me at all!
PS - If you reject me forget this ever happened!!
-Heeseung :)"
you slammed your head to your hands letting out a whisper-like yell, Lee Heeseung had just confessed his feelings for you. In the cutest way possible
you weren't sure why or how this occurred, but you were beyond happy
a blissful sigh gets past your lips as you try and make yourself as if you weren't freaking out at the moment, stepping into the living room
"hi mom"
"hi dear, are you ok, you seem a little.. rushed?"
"oh, i'm fine- i'm just really happy the school year ended without any problems, you know?" you tried to give her your best "everything is ok smile" you used to give her when you were in trouble
"alright then, whatever you say" - turned back to watch tv while you feel a weight lifted off your shoulders
"you must be starving at this point. you and heeseung didn't go out for ramen? You really have to repay him for everything"
stepping into the kitchen, a big grin makes it's way onto your face
"oh, don't worry mom, i know exactly how i'll be repaying him!"

every little action of his left you thinking about that night for hours
