going around tgcf ships at the moment and i'm curious why a lot of people ship qi rong/lang qianqiu? the fan contents are lovely but i want to hear from you on why if you don't mind haha
Great question. I have no idea lol.
Well, I can come up with two guesses: firstly, that a lot of the MXTX characters have... subtextual pairings. Like even if MXTX insists she didn't intend to write other canon pairings, there's enough subtext around certain pairings to be like "r u sure":
Jun Wu and Mei Nianqing (the parallels at the end with Hualian)
Shi Qingxuan and He Xuan (no explanation needed)
Quan Yizhen and Yin Yu (they're just... too similar to Bingqiu)
Feng Xin and Mu Qing (even goes out of the way to include that Jian Lan does not love Feng Xin anymore)
Ban Yue and Pei Su (I think this is implicitly canon)
Yushi Huang and Pei Ming (I also think this is implicitly canon at least in a one-sided way; Xuan Ji's curse is pretty telling)
You could even potentially argue about Ling Wen and Bai Jing but there's not enough there for me.
Sooo considering who else is alive, people are going to probably want to ship Lang Qianqiu with someone. He doesn't interact with Shi Wudu and he's dead (I mean so is Qi Rong but more questionably lol), and he doesn't interact with Ling Wen and straight side ships are always less popular in danmei. He does have not only terrible beef with Qi Rong, but takes in Guzi (Qi Rong's adopted son) at the end. They could be the real enemies to lovers, but with a kid too.
At least, that's my guess. I'm not really into it but not opposed either lol. True neutral.
