okay okay first prompt first time actually writing Sam and company let’s go

also very sorry @st-ckholm​ for taking so long!! hope you like this cuz i was winging it the whole time and didn’t expect it to end that way whoops

The alarm clock blinked ‘2:47′ in its green text. Sam stared at it for a few seconds before turning his head back to the ceiling. Sleep was pulling him down, but his mind wouldn’t rest. His brain was just dragging around thoughts and memories in slow, agonizing circles.

It’s been what? Two months? Two months and Sam still couldn’t f*cking sleep without this downward spiral of thoughts invading his head.

He turned onto his side with a sigh. Maybe if he didn’t think about the time. If he only gets an hour of sleep by the time his alarm goes off at five, then that’s all the sleep he gets. He closed his eyes and forced his mind to go blank.

The TV in the apartment next door turned on. Apparently he wasn’t the only one who couldn’t sleep.

Sam flipped over again, trying to block out the sound with his pillow. It was some news channel, he thought. He was pretty sure.

A dog was barking down the block.

A couple was arguing somewhere below him.

The tenant above him decided to take a shower at almost three in the morning. She must’ve gotten off her shift.

And, sh*t, now he needed to use the bathroom.

He slowly dragged himself out of bed and to the bathroom. He needed to remember to water Alan in the morning.

He paused when he got back to his bedroom door, listening. He could’ve sworn he heard something.

There was a light scratching coming from the apartment door. Sam slowly made his way over to it, trying his best to stay quiet; who knew what it could’ve been this late at night in this town.

He paused again, inches away from the handle. The scratching stopped. He waited for a few seconds before turning back to his bedroom. He needed to go to bed.

Sam faltered when he got there. The window was open. He didn’t remember opening it. He didn’t, did he? But he must have. Right? Why else would it be open?

He slowly made his way to the frame. There was a slight breeze blowing in. Right as he reached the frame, a meow behind him made Sam jump.

Sam let out a puff of air. “Ashton! God, don’t scare me like that.” The cat only stared at him in response. He went over to rub his neck. “Did you open the window? Is that how you got in?”

He picked Ashton up off his bed and onto his chest as he lay on his bed himself. 2:53.

He let his eyes drift closed. The rhythmic vibrations Ashton’s purrs sent through his chest was enough to gently coax his mind into the dark of sleep.

The scratching sound started again, but his mind was too foggy with sleep to really worry about it. It stopped just as his mind slipped into a haze of dreams.

There was something on his bed. Or someone.

He shifted just enough to see it was 4:36. His eyes slowly traveled to the other side of the bed. Someone was on his bed.

Sam bit down hard on his lip, trying to keep the panic in. Whoever it is hadn’t hurt him yet. Maybe if he feigns sleep long enough they’ll go away. Or maybe they’ll hurt him anyway.

The thought alone was enough to make him flinch involuntarily. The figured hunched over before straightening their back. A light chuckle came from them.

“You must be a light sleeper, huh?” the man said. And it was definitely a man, from the way he spoke and moved and smiled at Sam.

He was holding Ashton just a little too tight for Sam’s liking and he found he couldn’t keep his eyes off the cat. Better than looking up at the terrifying eyes of the intruder.

The man dropped Ashton none-too-gently and inched towards Sam. They made eye contact and Sam found he couldn’t move.

Oh, God, he thought. OhGodohGodohGod.

The man’s grin grew wider. F*ck, did Sam say that out loud?

“Guess again.”

(for sliding) “okay imagine that there are strings connected to your shoulders and those strings are connected to bombs and if your shoulders aren’t straight then the bomb will explode” (spoiler alert we blew up the school in this hypothetical)

honestly whenever i think of a story idea for anything i’m like “oh okay”

i was wondering why i like whump and how i come up with some of the dark stuff i come up with

but i just got to the first of the puppeteer episodes on bones and i realize “ah. that’s how”

heartbreaking scenario: whumpee gets rescued, but it’s too late.

the caretaker finds the whumpee where the whumper had been keeping them, and unlocks their chains or handcuffs, and brings them to the car

but the whumpee is breathing heavily, and their eyes are searching all around, and their head is lolling

the caretaker realizes that the full extent of the whumpee’s injuries, and that there’s no way they’ll be able to save them

so instead they just pull over on the side of the road and hold the whumpee’s broken body, wipe away the blood trickling from the whumpee’s mouth

the caretaker rubs the whumpee’s back as they cough up more blood, and tries in vain to comfort the whumpee

they hold the whumpee close, silently crying as they feel the whumpee’s back arch and the whumpee goes into convulsions

and they cry even harder when the whumpee goes limp and takes their last breath

A ‘Reward’

“Shh,” the whumper whispered into the whumpee’s hair, holding them close. “You did so well. So good, so quiet for me.”

The whumpee whimpered a bit at the words, trying to turn their head away from the whumper’s threatening smile.

“I think you deserve a reward,” they continued, forcing the whumpee to make eye contact by grabbing their chin. They were lying in the whumper’s lap, too weak to move but their eyes still burned with hatred for their captor.

“What do you think?” There was no reply, just the quiet sound of the whumpee’s strained breaths. “No requests?”

“Well then,” the whumper announced, taking their captive into their arms, making sure to press into their new wounds. “I suppose I’ll give you a bath.”

The whumpee didn’t answer, but the whumper smiled, noticing the tears forming in their eyes.

‘Touch’

So violence and whump often go hand in hand right? But what I think is underrated is touch.

Non-sexual, at first non-con touches. Touching the shoulder, the arm. Rubbing the back of whumpee’s hand. Gentle touch of the cheek. And my favourite, touching the whumpee’s head. Running hands through their hair.

Maybe the whumpee tries to get away. Maybe they melt into the touch and hate that they love it.

But inevitably, they start loving it, start craving it.

And the whumper has a much greater hold on them than if just violence and fear had been used.

Creepy comfort

Ya know what I really love??? A whumper who is deceptively gentle, even soothing towards the whumpee. But if they don’t get the response they want, they immediately turn violent and hostile, and then back again after asserting their control. The whumpee quickly learns that on the rare occasion that comfort is offered, they had better not shy away from it.
