Euphoria | Lexi and Rue

Anyone else has noticed the way that Lexi reacts about Rue and Jules? My working theory is that time that Rue told about her and Lexi kissing for practice (pll emison vibes anyone?) Lexi freak out, she was about to go out with some guy and didn’t expect to feel that way about kissing her friend, I mean her face wasn’t like “this was weird” it was like “I thought this was going to be weird, but it wasn’t and now I know nothing so I better rush out”. I think that at least Lexie has some unresolved feelings about Rue, it’s clear that she cares a lot about Rue and maybe is just that, maybe she is even jealous of Jules kinda replacing her as Rue’s best friend, but the thing that bugs me about just being friendship jealous is that when Gia told Lexi that Rue was in love of Jules, Lexi’s face is just telling another story, no one gets that upset about a friend having a crush, in fact if she was jealous of Jules taking her place as best friend, Lexie should have been relieve that was something else entirely, and to be honest I think that Lexie would be so much better for Rue, she has known Rue for a long time, she knows the good and the bad and has been with her throw all of it, and plain simple Lexi is just and amazing and supportive person, Jules is great and everything, the girl has some issues, there’s no denying that, but who hasn’t, the real problem with Jules is that I don’t think that she is really into Rue or at least not as much as Rue likes her, they were way better as friends than being together and that’s ok is just life.

Also, I really want a Lexi focus episode…

Hidden detail about Rue’s Halloween costume that could most likely suggest that Lexi is in love with Rue!

In the Halloween episode, Doniella Davy (Euphoria’s makeup artist) confirmed that Rue is dressed up as Marlene Dietrich from the 1930′s film “Morocco”.

I wanted to do some research to find out why Sam Levinson might have wanted Rue to dress up as Marlene Dietrich as we already know that the costume of each character reflects the character’s actual life. For example, Cassie was dressed up as Alabama Worley, a prostitute in the movie “True Romance” who just wants to fall in love, symbolising how Cassie is just searching for someone to truly love her but ultimately, every guy just wants her for sex.

So I wanted to find out the context behind the choice for Rue’s Marlene Dietrich costume from the film “Morocco”. The film is about a cabaret singer (who is Marlene Dietrich) and a Legionnaire who fall in love during the Rif War. Although the Legionnaire is a womaniser, he’s still in love with the cabaret singer. However, at the same time, a rich man is also deeply in love with the cabaret singer but the problem is that the cabaret singer is only in love with the Legionnaire, so the rich man’s love becomes one sided, creating this whole love triangle between Marlene Dietrich’s character, the Legionnaire and the rich man.

As we know already, the cabaret singer (Marlene Dietrich) is Rue and i think the Legionnaire is Jules cos the legionnaire is a womaniser, he has affairs/relationships with other women while still loving the cabaret singer just as Jules hooked up with Anna but still said she loves Rue.

Now the reason why i said Rue’s costume could suggest that Lexi is in love with Rue is bcos i believe that the rich man (with the one sided love towards Marlene Dietrich’s character) is Lexi. In the film, not only is the man rich, but he is also a wealthy PAINTER. And who was dressed up as a painter in the Halloween episode? LEXI HOWARD!!!

Also in the film, the rich man would do anything to make Marlene Dietrich’s character happy - at the end of the film, he helped the cabaret singer reunite with the legionnaire (her lover) who went to war and never returned, just how lexi would do anything to see Rue happy, even if it means letting Jules take her place as Rue’s best-friend😭

also can we just appreciate the MVP of the night, ms Lexi Howard?!?! Queen played right with Rue’s protective big sister monologue after helping Rue spot Gia getting high, covered Cassie’s ass several times throughout the night (whether you agree with it or not she was loyal asf), reassured Rue that she wasnt a burden, checked in on her often and offered to take her home. She also stayed true to herself and dressed the way she wanted to despite the lack of enthusiasm from others!!!

Lexi and Cassie's dad was an addict, and their mom drinks a lot, and Cassie has consistently gotten used for sex by guys she fell in love with because she didn't want to be lonely, and Lexi has had to deal with parents that were addicts and alcoholics and then watch her best friend become an addict and almost die, I--

I think she’s in love with her. Like, Rue is in love with Jules. Don’t you think? I haven’t really thought about it.

So Lexi really just sat on a table ALL BY HERSELF (even Cassie’s friend group sat on a different table to her) RIGHT IN FRONT of Rue’s eyes and Rue didn’t even bat an eye towards her even after Lexi legit stared at her and Jules?! Somehow the more things i find out about this girl, the more heartbreaking she becomes😭😭

I think from this it is very clear that Lexi doesn’t hv any other friends or ppl she talks to other than Rue and Cassie’s friends (Kat, BB and Maddy) which is why I don’t think we r going to be introduced to anyone new that she is currently friends with in her upcoming backstory in season 2 and this leads me to wonder what could they possibly talk about in her episode other than her family life and rue?

We know that she is a shy, introverted girl who has only had alcohol once in her life (and by the looks of it didn’t like it) and seems to be studying most of the time (she legit got a textbook out in the middle of a pep rally😂😭 also when maddy and kat hung out in her and cassie’s room and she was the only one doing hw on her bed) so all of that rules out the possibility of any secret addictions or dark secret life, particularly the crazy theories about her secretly dealing for Fez and being a drug/alcohol addict just like her parents.

So I feel like her episode is purely just gonna be about her family life and how she’s going through some shit mentally because of how rough it was (she probably has issues similar to rue like a lack of self worth, anxiety etc) and tbh we already know a lot about her family life (from cassie’s ep) so i feel like the only other thing they could talk about is Rue since there is A LOT of unsaid history between these two so they can go into a lot of depth about her history with Rue as well as her perspective on how she feels about cassie, her dad and her mom.

Episode 2 subtle foreshadowing of Rue and Lexi:

When rue ran into the bathroom to take a line during the class in the school theatre, as soon as Lexi called her name and entered the bathroom, Rue flushed the drugs down the toilet and we watch it go down as the camera fully focuses on the drugs being flushed.

I think that’s symbolic for the fact that Lexi will help Rue with recovery in season 2 cos whenever lexis around, she makes sure rue doesn’t turn to drugs. Zendaya said in an interview not long ago that if we can take anything from the fact that rue is Sam ... then she’s going to make it out and be okay in the end and if Lexi can help her escape this vicious cycle of drugs, then i can def see lexi and rue becoming a lot closer in season 2 after Jules’ disappearance and hopefully we can find out whether lexi does hv feelings for rue or not.

Also, there was foreshadowing of Jules leaving rue. In the bike scene with the orange field, when they were biking they were so happy (like in a moment of euphoria) which was reflected by how sunny it was and then Jules left and it started raining- Kinda like pathetic fallacy of Rue’s emotions in that scene.

So if we can learn anything from the use of foreshadowing in this show, it typically acts as a major hint to future events.

i love how rue and lexi aren’t even a canon ship and have only had like 4 interactions yet somehow sam levinson has made almost half of euphoria fans so fucking invested in a ship that we can never be sure will acc happen… the man’s an absolute magician😭
