Jaci Clendaniel - I’ll Keep You (#TeamIzzy) 12th Junior Solo Junior Lyrical Solo (Age 12) Choreographed by Alex Brooks Dance Industry Performing Arts Center NYCDA Nationals 2022 Phoenix

This solo was performed in honour of Jaci’s best friend Izzy Martin. On the afternoon of February 13th, 2020, just six days after her 10th birthday, while rehearsing her solo, Izzy injured her right upper leg. She was taken to the children’s hospital where they identified she had a broken right femur. Upon further inspection of her X-Rays, the doctors noticed the bone appeared compromised. On Monday, February 17th, 2020, after running MRIs and taking and evaluating a biopsy, Izzy was diagnosed with bone cancer called osteosarcoma, the most common form of bone cancer in children. Today, Izzy is a 12-year-old warrior who continues to fight osteosarcoma every single day.

Please don’t post publicly on any social media during nationals season if you can’t be happy for all the dancers regardless of if they won or not. All the kids worked hard and those who won deserved to win. We have the privilege of watching these nationals through a livestream and y’all forget that privilege can be taken away. At the end of the day this is a child’s after school activity and it’s not that serious. Please check yourself and come correct or don’t come at all.
