It’s not how we fall. It’s how we get back up again.
Patrick Ness, Monsters of Men
Better to reign in Hell, than to serve in Heaven.
John Milton, Paradise Lost
Throw stones, make waves. Rage, rage against the dying of the light.
Vikki Wakefield, Friday Brown
I know that I’ve carved out a life that lets me hide when I need to because I wouldn’t survive any other way.
Jenny Lawson, Furiously Happy: A Funny Book About Horrible Things
Strength is not in the body, it’s in the mind. It doesn’t lie in flexing your muscles and crushing those who oppose you. It lies in being the last one standing. By any means. At any cost.

See, forgiveness doesn't happen all at once. It's not an event -- it's a process. Forgiveness happens while you're asleep, while you're dreaming, while you're in line at the coffee shop, while you're showering, eating, farting, jerking off. It happens in the back of your mind, and then one day you realize that you don't hate the person anymore, that your anger has gone away somewhere. And you understand. You've forgiven them. You don't know how or why. It sneaked up on you. It happened in the small spaces between thoughts and in the seconds between ideas and blinks. That's where forgiveness happens. Because anger and hatred, when left unfed, bleed away like air from a punctured tire, over time and days and years. Forgiveness is stealth. At least, that's what I hope.
Barry Lyga, Boy Toy
No one ever told me how sorrow traumatizes your heart, making you think it will never beat exactly the same way again. No one ever told me how grief feels like a wet sock in my mouth. One I’m forced to breathe through, thinking that with each breath I’ll come up short and suffocate.
Sarah Noffke, Awoken
I think maybe it’s the things we don’t want to talk about that are the things people most want to hear.
Julie Murphy, Dumplin'
It's a good thing to see that people can heal after they've been broken, that they can change and become something different from what they were before.
Wiley Cash, A Land More Kind Than Home
When someone you love dies, and you're not expecting it, you don't lose her all at once; you lose her in pieces over a long time—the way the mail stops coming, and her scent fades from the pillows and even from the clothes in her closet and drawers. Gradually, you accumulate the parts of her that are gone. Just when the day comes—when there's a particular missing part that overwhelms you with the feeling that she's gone, forever—there comes another day, and another specifically missing part.
John Irving, A Prayer for Owen Meany
So I came to the realization: Nothing in life is unfair. It's just life.
Rob Lowe, Stories I Only Tell My Friends
Break my heart. Break it a thousand times if you like. It was only ever yours to break anyway.
Kiera Cass, The One
I love the sea because it is boundless.
Craig Thompson, Good-Bye, Chunky Rice
You have so many layers, that you can peel away a few, and everyone's so shocked or impressed that you're baring your soul, while to you it's nothing, because you know you've twenty more layers to go.
Craig Thompson, Carnet de Voyage
It can take years to mold a dream. It takes only a fraction of a second for it to be shattered
Mary E. Pearson, The Kiss of Deception
Krasivaya. It means beautiful, but with strength. Unique.
