For me Friday the 13th is a holiday. I've been obsessed with the silly slasher movies basically my entire life, I would watch them on USA network with my mother when I was WAY too young. When I was 12 I started renting them on VHS, and I've been completely hooked ever since. When I had a day job I used to always get annoyed when I could only fit in one or two of the Friday the 13th movies in my day due to work obligations. I used to have this childish goal that if I ever was my own boss I'd take Friday the 13th off and just marathon Jason movies all day. As I write this I think this is my 5th or 6th Friday the 13th, and sure enough I took the day off and I'm watching Jason (or his mother, or the paramedic Roy) murder some young people. Little things like this make the struggle and difficulty really feel worth it. So I hope everyone else has a good "unlucky day" and thanks for reading a little about my silly little dreams.

2016 is over, I'm happy.

I'm thankful for this year, I had highs and lows, both that weren't predictable. For that I am thankful. The joy I have felt is something I could have never estimated accurately, and for that I am thankful. I am even thankful for all the pain, because I know that the only way to get hurt is to put myself out into the world and let my heart steer the wheel. I will live and love with the least amount of fear possible, and I will accept the pain as the cost of such a joyful life. In my opinion it's still a bargain. I'm full of love, thought, sadness, humor, excitement, ideas, and more words that will just waste valuable time. Happy New Year dudes. Thank you thank you thank you. -Henrique

Depression: The Movie wasn’t just a turning point in my career, it was a turning point in my entire life. After multiple battles with doubt, dread, and full blown sadness I decided to put everything I had into passion. I doubled down on what I love, and it worked out for me. I have kept doing it, and here I am somehow still kicking. The film just went up on AmazonPrime, which gives it an incredible chance to find an audience, I was in tears when I saw it go up. I hope lots of you enjoy it if you haven’t already. Fuck yeah.

I've written about 10 screenplays, writing is always a real challenge for me. Not because I don't like to be creative, that's the part I love but because you have to sit down and pound out pages. It's a lonely process, that as times is incredibly rewarding but often is SO frustrating. Sometimes the scripts pour right out, and sometimes they come slowly, and I have to beg my brain to co-operate. When a script I write is all done, it becomes paper and that's when it really hits me. When it becomes tangible I really understand that I finished it. I think this script is great, I think it is everything I promised you wonderful backers. I fought with myself and got it done and made it great. So, here it is. All real and on paper. Henrique

Making Out, or How I Turned All of my Mistakes into a Movie

This Friday I will premiere my first Romantic Comedy. It is my twelfth film and I’ve never been a stranger to genre jumping, the film I did before this was a Western, which was a genre I am positive no one saw coming. However when I first came up with this little flick I had only ever done horror movies. I whittled away at the story and concept for a long time, anyone who collaborated with me had probably heard my pitch for it over the years. I was so excited about the idea but had no clue how I would produce it. Enter Kickstarter. After the shocking (to me) success of Depression: The Movie and my non-horror titles on crowdfunding I realized I could actually bring this film to life. Sometimes when you get all wound up in the business end of making films it is easy to go months without thinking about the where the film really came from. After spending a year between raising funds, casting, booking shoots, going into production, post production, and packaging for Kickstarter the dust is just now settling for me. The reason I made this film is because I learned some hard lessons about love, I used to have unrealistic expectations of love based on movies. Obviously since I’ve dedicated my entire life to film it is no surprise that I would take many cues from them. One day I woke up chasing after a foolish love and realized I didn’t like what I had become. I realized that in life and in love I should be the screenwriter, not just the lead. Those lessons have led me to the most fulfilling and loving relationships I’ve ever had. I used to be someone who felt very negatively about love and dating, and now I can’t get enough. I love as hard as I can and as often as I can. I’ve never been happier, and I’ve attempted to tell that story in this film and I think I’ve succeeded. So thank you to everyone for their support on this film, and I hope I get a chance to show you something truly special.
