I caught a Ralts and fought a witch today, also my Popplio evolved! Turns out my power to have weapons based off different tv shows goes to my outfits as well, with the only thing not changing being my hat, so I fought a witch in the team Magma uniform, at least I served lol
WHO WAS GOING TO TELL ME WALPURGISNAGHT IS COMING OR JUST PASSED?? I know I haven’t been active on the magi side as I don’t really find witches in my area/haven’t figured out how to properly find them but god damn
For context I keep seeing videos from the 25 that said Walpurgisnaght is coming in a week (so yesterday) on TikTok, is this true? Are they still there? I feel so bad for helping I’m so sorry guys 😭😭
I FINALLY DID THE RITUAL!! Lord Arceus said I could be a pokemon trainer and that I will worship Jirachi! I’m so excited to bond with my Popplio and become a fairy type trainer and hopefully one day gym leader! I’ll probably change my layout to be Primarina or Popplio themed so don’t be alarmed if my profile changes!
I made my dream team! I’ll do the ritual tonight, I’m wanting to be a fairy type trainer! (Picked silver because he looks like my sona :-p) I’m so excited to start my journey!
have you ever wanted to become the world’s best pokémon trainer? well, now you can, and without needing to play any of the games (although i would definitely recommend)! and through reading this thorough yet simple guide!
NOTE: this was entirely written by hand and by human. no AI was used in the making of this document.
Your Pokémon Journey, the most important part of becoming a trainer! Your journey is unique to you, and can start, break and end whenever you want or need!
Whether you want to join for fun, dedication to Pokémon or any other reason, whether you aim to “catch ‘em all”, become a gym leader or ascend to the ranks of champion, anyone can join in!
How do I start?
Before you start doing ANY rituals or planning, you need to figure out what sort of end goal or purpose your Pokémon journey will bestow you with.
Do you hope to become a Gym Leader? Champion? Devotee of a Mythical or Legendary? Perhaps just a humble Trainer?
The choice is yours and yours alone! And whatever path you take is just as valid as the next.
So… You’ve decided your fate… What now?
Arceus
Arceus is noted as the “Alpha Pokémon” and the “Creator of the Pokémon universe”, and serves as the highest major deity in this practice.
Unfortunately, starting your Pokémon journey is not just as easy as deciding to start… Although if you want to do that, be my guest!
If you want a deeper approach to starting your journey, my advice would be to seek out Arceus itself… Of which I have a brief tutorial.
The ritual is quite easy, and flexible too (meaning it can be adjusted to suit whatever questions, needs or restraints you may have).
- Set up a safe and cleansed space
- Choose a form of divination in order to contact Arceus
- Get in contact with Arceus (hopefully)
- Ask questions or say things like “I wish to become a Pokémon trainer, how can I assist you?” or “Arceus, I call upon you to make me a Pokémon trainer.”
- You may have to wait a while for the effects of becoming a trainer, although if everything goes well you should feel motivated and a profound sense of safety and protection!
Want some custom Arceus-themed tarot cards to use for this ritual? Print some out from my template here!
Now you’re a Pokémon trainer! The next step is to start training!
Well… You can’t really do much of that if you don’t have your own Pokémon yet, can you?
No matter what you have decided your duties are as a magical hero, your safety is paramount. Even when situations seem dire, you must take care of yourself before helping others. After all, you can’t guarantee their safety if you’re out of commission!
Under the cut you’ll find a non-exhaustive list of ways you can maintain your safety and wellbeing while working in the astral, patrolling the physical, or out working in your community.
This post is part of my Magi Praxis series. If you have any suggestions for future topics, or you have attempted anything I have shared and want you share your experiences, please send me a message! I am always happy to go back and provide further explanation as well. ☆
Even though I already mentioned this, I think it bears repeating: you won’t be able to help others if you’re not looking out for yourself! First responders like firefighters and emergency medical personnel are also taught this before working in the field to help reduce tunnel vision in stressful situations.
While I am completely understanding of the magical heroes that feel the need to be self-sacrificing (because I was that magician when I started my magical journey and still struggle with that urge well into adulthood), no amount of wearing yourself down will help better your work or others in the long run. Only by maintaining your physical, emotional, and spiritual safety can you be sure you’ll be able to act when the time calls for it.
The Basics of Spiritual Safety
I know I say this in almost all of my Magi Praxis entries but it is so important that you become comfortable with grounding and banishing before engaging with any serious magical work. You should have techniques that you can utilize in any situation, almost without thinking.
Grounding is a means to maintain a healthy energetic boundary. As a practice, it comes down to connecting with the energy around you as well as understanding and accepting your place in the world. You can ground at any time during your magical work in order to ‘root’ yourself to reality but grounding after a ritual or working is incredibly important in order to release any residual energy that is no longer needed, thereby restoring your connection with the physical world and promoting a general sense of stability.
Banishing, on the other hand, is like an energetic board wipe. It is a practice magicians use to expel all energies that are not welcome. I always recommend banishing before and after a working: your first banishing ritual serves as a stage setting action while your final banishing strikes down your magical stage and leaves the space clean for other uses.
Outside of magical work, grounding and banishing are helpful tools to have even when navigating the mundane world. How many times have you been in a situation where you felt so anxious or overwhelmed that you could hardly move or breathe? By using grounding techniques, you can take steps to make peace with the situation, even if it’s just temporary or until you can get yourself to a better place.
You may have noticed that I have not highlighted the use of wards or energetic barriers here. While they are great techniques to practice, particularly when engaging in magical combat, I don’t generally recommend this kind of work to newer/younger practitioners because it can end up exasperating a problem. Many times, more inexperienced magicians will create wards to create a safe space only to inadvertently make things more scary or dangerous outside its borders. By regularly grounding and banishing, however, you can avoid this issue regardless of your location.
Considering Mental Health
Regardless of what your magical work looks like, your mental health plays an important role in how you approach and carry out your duties. Your mental landscape can drastically affect how operate: if you are calm and focused you can think clearly and critically; but if you are agitated or down you may be more inclined to act carelessly or even dangerously. Left unchecked, illnesses like depression and anxiety can present itself with very physical and sometimes debilitating symptoms.
If you are struggling, there is absolutely no shame in seeking help. Consider reaching out to a professional whether through a hotline or on a more regular basis.
Physical Safety Tips
If a significant aspect of your work relies on going outside or interacting with people in your community, maintaining physical safety and accountability is crucial.
⟡ Check the weather before you venture out. It may sound silly but this is extremely important if you’re out on hiking trails or in the wilderness! Even if you’re in an urban environment, knowing if you need to pack an umbrella or an extra layer can help ensure you don’t get sick!
⟡ Always have a buddy or move in a group. Whether you’re on patrol or attending a protest, buddying up is an easy way you can stay safe! Make sure you exchange phone numbers and consider enabling location sharing on your devices.
⟡ Know the cellphone coverage in your area. Especially if you live somewhere remote, you do not want to be caught somewhere you can’t call for help. (That being said, even if you don’t have a signal you may be able to contact emergency services!)
⟡ Consider keeping simple first aid and grounding items handy. I tend to carry around painkillers because there’s a chance something could trigger a migraine for me but you can also carry bandages, earplugs, or some candies to help maintain blood sugar. (Dark chocolate is great for grounding!) Quiet fidget toys may also be something you’d want to help diffuse stress.
⟡ Walk with conviction and purpose. Speaking as a femme-presenting individual with anxiety who lived in Chicago for 14 years, people don’t tend to bother you if you look like you have somewhere to be. A big jacket and heavy boots can be unassuming but powerful armor!
⟡ Know your rights! While I certainly do not recommend any illegal activity including but not limited to trespassing, with everything going on in the United States I would hate to see anyone caught unawares!
“Oh Roger you’re a Internet Angel now? I bet your device is your headphones because you wear them 24/7!”
WRONG, tamagotchi paradise!
I’m on my third generation currently! My outfit is widely different from my normal magi outfit, I’ll draw at school tomorrow but I’m honestly so glad I’m comfortable in dresses and skirts because it has the PUFFIEST SKIRT KNOWN TO MAN
Hi! You probably know who I am if you’ve been in the irl magical girl/ magi community, or more likely you’ve seen my post about using maladaptive daydreaming as a way to fight witches.
I didn’t realize the harm my post would cause and I apologize. I shouldn’t have promoted it as a “fun” way to fight witches as it is an actual psychological condition, something that I myself struggle with. I’m sorry to the people I have hurt and I have made the post private for archival purposes.
Again I am deeply sorry to those I have hurt by my post.
I’ve started to notice a bit of a trend within the real-world magical girl tags with folks trying attempting to utilize maladaptive dreaming as a technique for their magia. As someone who was described as having a fantasy-prone personality and being an excessive daydreamer by loved ones and educators (and to this day has experiences along those lines even with medical intervention), I wanted to offer my two cents on the topic.
While I am not, nor do I ever desire to be, in a position to police how anyone engages with magic, I think it is prudent to discuss what maladaptive dreaming is, some misconceptions I’ve seen circulating, and whether or not it can truly hold a place in one’s practice.
Please bear in mind that this is a delicate topic, for myself and many others. While I highly encourage those in the occult community, especially within real-world magical girl and related tags, to do their due diligence, if discussion of mental illness, possible psychosis, and bodily responses to trauma trigger you, please refrain from reading further.
From Eli Somer’s original 2002 inquiry on the topic (in which the terminology was coined), maladaptive daydreaming, or excessive daydreaming is “extensive fantasy activity that replaces human interaction and/or interferes with academic, interpersonal, or vocational functioning”. While it is not recognized by any major medical psychological criteria, it is identified by some professionals and sufferers as a form of dissociative absorption that disrupts and inhibits daily life and is most commonly seen in teens and young adults. While I was dealing with excessive daydreaming around the early 2000s, I personally had not heard the term catch on in popularity until somewhat recently (particularly with the rise of the popularity of reality shifting).
How does Maladaptive Daydreaming Differ from Regular Daydreaming?
While daydreaming is a normal form of dissociation experienced by almost everyone at some point in their lives, it becomes ‘maladaptive’ or ‘excessive’ when it interferes with normal daily functions such as work or social interactions. Many experts believe maladaptive daydreaming can be a coping mechanism for trauma and in some cases it can become a compulsive reaction to certain places and situations. Individuals who deal with excessive daydreaming sometimes share traits with those exhibiting other behavioral addictions, such as gambling or video games, and may use their daydreams as a means to escape reality.
While there are no official ways to diagnose maladaptive daydreaming, some methods have been developed in an attempt to gauge its prevalence in individuals including the Maladaptive Daydreaming Scale (MDS-16), a form of self-reporting. Maladaptive daydreaming has been identified to potentially have comorbidity with a number of already existing recognized mental disorders such as attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), anxiety disorder, autism spectrum disorder, major depressive disorder, and obsessive–compulsive disorder (OCD) as well as general mental health problems such as low emotional regulation, low self-efficacy, low self-esteem, personality disorders, feelings of loneliness, and overall higher levels of psychological distress. Because maladaptive daydreaming is not recognized as a psychiatric disorder, some professionals suggest treating any related mental illnesses a patient may have in order to regulate the condition.
Even though I do not experience the same level of excessive daydreaming as I did as a teenager for example, I do continue to have moments where highly visual, immersive daydreams interfere with my ability to perform certain tasks such as writing, day-to-day chores, or driving a car even while medicated. At these times, like if I’m driving, I don’t have the wherewithal to pull over and let it ride out—I’m still actively and competently driving but my mind is somewhere completely different—and it can be jarring and extremely unsettling when I snap back to reality. When this happens, I feel extremely guilty knowing that I could have done something reckless or potentially harmful towards myself or others by being so distracted.
I want to stress that maladaptive daydreaming is not something one can learn to do, it can be or become an addiction, and it should not be something that someone aspires to have. While I have thankfully not been put in a dangerous situation because of it, it feels almost inevitable that there will be a time I could seriously hurt myself or someone else because my mind was elsewhere.
Can Maladaptive Daydreaming be used for Magic?
Let me begin this section by saying I absolutely think there is a place for daydreaming in magic. I think it goes hand-in-hand with visualization and even astral projection and there is certainly merit in strengthening your imagination. If you notice your mind wander to ideas and fantasies related to your magia, I think that is evidence of some successful self-enchantment, at the very least.
Because maladaptive daydreaming is compulsive or reflexive in nature, I argue that it would be difficult to routinely and effectively use it for magia; even if you are aware you are daydreaming, your body may be more inclined towards self-regulating fantasies rather than rigorous magical work. While I do believe it could be possible to do some magic in this state, or do some magical programming on yourself to make the daydreaming a magical act in itself, it comes at the cost of physical safety and I am wary to lead young and inexperienced magicians who deal with maladaptive daydreaming down this path.
If you are wanting to have more vivid daydreams, I highly recommend working on your visualization skills, whether you are able to conjure mental images or not. I know I have recommended this on my blog before but The Mentalist's Handbook: An Explorer's Guide to Astral, Spirit, and Psychic Worlds by Clint Marsh is an excellent, accessible text for fledgling magicians who are interested in working up up astral travel, in particular.

Hi, I think I’m the one who started this “trend” I didn’t expect it to blow up and I’m really sorry, I have maladaptive daydreaming myself and I wanted to share how I do it, I didn’t realize the harm it could cause, I will probably remove the post later today, again I’m deeply sorry
