What I learned this week... The Olympic Games in Rio were incredible! The venues were great, the people friendly, and weather was pretty good for late winter in South America. Many questioned the preparedness of Rio de Janeiro for the Olympic Games. Just from being there, I think the city did really good job putting on the games. The lead up to the games was awashed in controversy. There were reports of buildings and faculties being behind schedule, to ocean water being covered in sewage, to rampant crime plaguing the city, visitors and athletes. It was all over exaggerated. Rio has its problems, but it's also showed the determination to move past them in its own way. To the hundreds of thousands of fans who descended upon the city most had shared the same sentiment as I, great people, good food, and iconic sights. There are many problems that an Olympic Games will not fix (Economy, Racism, Crime etc..) but it did manage to pull off the games without the doom and gloom that some people thought it would be. Rio is a great city to experience full of culture and life.
