2016 Oscar Predictions
If you know me, you know that I’m obsessed with film. And, as a film fan, I always eagerly anticipate the Oscars each year. Not without its problems (race chiefly among them ), the Oscars are, in general, much more legitimate than any comparable music-focused awards show. I spend the bulk of my time working with and thinking about music, and definitely wish the Grammys held more deserving independent works in higher esteem, as the Oscars always do, sometimes to the point of alienating the general moviegoing public.
I like to play the Oscar predictions game for fun, and feel compelled to doubly so this time, since I saw more Oscar nominated films in 2015 than any year prior. Seriously, it’s easier to name what I didn’t see than what I did (4 foreign films, 1 animated feature, and 3 documentary shorts are all I have left). 2015 was an amazing year for movies, but I don’t expect a lot of surprises in this year’s show; that is, unless the universe is legitimately conspiring against Leo. Below, I’ve detailed what I think will win, and, in a few instances, what I believe should win.
