Worm is a 1.6M word long web serial about a teenage girl with the power to control bugs, trying her best in ever more dire situations. Every time Iāve read it, I end up devouring it in 3-10 days. For this annual reread, Iād like to pace myself, talk to people about it, and hopefully get new people into it!
Logistics
- This is a public club! Anyone is welcome to read along, post, comment, or join the discord.
- It will run for 21 weeks, each week covering between 32k - 92k, averaging 65k. This sounds like a lot but Worm tends to be hard to slow down for. You can find the schedule here.

Community Standards
Engage with difficult topics thoughtfully: Worm depicts bullying, child abuse, child sexual assault and incest, white supremacy, an unjust carceral system and vigilante justice, medical abuse, addiction, bigotry and discrimination, trauma, violence, and other sensitive topics. It does not always handle these topics sensitively! Please engage with these topics thoughtfully and with compassion. Leave room for nuance and disagreement amongst the group. A plurality of perspective makes for more interesting conversation! Donāt be afraid of conflict.
Treat each other with respect. In addition to the above, Worm as a text includes anti-Black, anti-Asian, Sinophobic, racist, anti-addict, queerphobic, fatphobic, and otherwise prejudiced language and portrayals. These aspects are open to critique and have to be talked about in any thorough discussion of the text.
Bigotry directed at other members is not acceptable. This club is explicitly welcoming to people who are Black, Asian, addicted, queer, and fat, and other marginalized identities.
