Ninth Ave. taking shape - former Pastis location now new home for RH (at Gansevoort Meatpacking NYC)
Gansevoort Market Opens, Meatpacking, NYC The Gansevoort Market quietly opened last week, but the press is already bubbling. W+A designed the 8,000sf food hall in a former meatpacking warehouse building. One can find all kinds of great food in this eclectic and funky new space, including our friends at Island Creek Oysters, located just down the street from the HighLine and the soon to be completed Whitney Museum.

Restoration Hardware finds new home in Meatpacking District
As recently featured in The Wall Street Journal, W+A is leading the design team for the renovation and expansion of 9 Ninth Avenue to serve as the new flagship location for Restoration Hardware in the heart of the Meatpacking District. The existing brick building formerly a garage and market recently won Landmarks approval for the 75,000 sf renovation and expansion. RH will be an exciting addition to the neighborhood, which already includes the well trafficked High Line and the eagerly anticipated new Whitney Museum. Sited at the corner of the Ninth Avenue plaza, the building will serve as the gateway to this vibrant neighborhood.
Around the corner on Gansevoort Street, W+A designed the recently-opened Gansevoort Market and is also working on a new gallery space next door.
Gansevoort Market - After 2 years in the making the Gansevoort Market opened today. Housed in a former warehouse building with huge garage doors opening onto the street - this eclectic & funky market will be an exciting addition to the already bustling Meatpacking neighborhood. Located down the street from the High Line and the New Whitney Museum, the market will add a terrific 'foodie' destination in this uber-chic, but always hungry block, remembered as the former late night home of Florent restaurant. Check out the Island Creek Oysters !
Rome, Italy - A beautiful city with true architectural history. We visited the Catacombs where a nineteenth century church sits on top of two prior structures. Much of Rome is two or three layers deep. It is amazing to think about building on top of a previous landmark structure.
Ravello, Italy - A beautiful and picturesque hilltop town overlooking the Amalfi Coast & the Mediterranean Sea. The town is beautifully preserved and unspoiled.
Amalfi, Italy - Beautiful, yet crowded & touristy. Each of these seaside towns built into the granite cliffs overlooking the Mediterranean is more dramatic than the next. In an effort to ditch the honeymooners and throngs of tourists, we took a cab inland past the local Lemoncello factory into the hills to Ravello, a detour that was well worth it.
Positano, Italy - Any UNESCO World Heritage site is worth seeing. Dramatic & architectural, but again quite commercial & touristy. We moved around by boat - to Amalfi & day cruises along the coast. We also took a cooking class at Max's, very farm to table, yet a classic and traditional Italian approach. Stuffed Zucchini flowers was the highlight along with homemade foccacia and tiramisu.
Capri, Italy - Dramatic, but way too commercial for our taste. We navigated around the island by boat en route to Positano. Best to see the island from the water, we ate in a small seaside restaurant after visiting the Blue Grotto.
Ischia, Italy - A beautiful island, not as commercial or touristy as Capri. The food was great! The waters were aquamarine and crystal clear, amazing considering how close we were to Naples.
