Trying to explain to a Bridgerton fan that the show choosing to characterize their one female character who does not desire marriage or children, who wants to go to college, and who is frustrated because all of her female peers buy into the system and she cannot find a companion who shares her desires as being selfish, and childish, and telling the audience that this is a phase she will soon outgrow when she unlocks her true 'maternal' side at the expense of a black woman's life is actually really problematic, but then they start speaking and you realize they're lowkey racist, misogynistic, tradwife ideologists, who don't see the issue with this stuff because they genuinely believe in it

neither!! the thing i really love about the marauders era is that the characters are like little dolls we can make up and give their own stories as there’s not a lot of canon information about them. peter is such an interesting character in canon, and he does get his redemption arc eventually, but i like his younger fan made character the most.

i think something that drew me to him was the lack of interest the fandom has for him, they seem to ignore and forget that he was a marauder at all due to his canon actions.

but i think his canon actions make him so interesting!!

because— peter was a great friend in school, he became an illegal animagus just to help remus in the shrieking shack, he (notoriously bad secret keeper) managed to keep remus lycanthropy to himself.

a lot of canonically evil characters are given such amazing stories and depth whilst Peter is reduced to the “fat” character that’s always eating that is a little dumb, all the time, which hurts my soul, so for that i guess is what originally drew me to him.

but i guess i love what the peter fans have done with his story, and what ive given to him and gave him as headcanons
