Christianity is nothing if not a way of thinking about death
Can’t even remember where I heard it, but someone was saying something like: Churches have lots something special by boy having graveyards anymore. When you’d go to church, you had to walk past lots and lots of headstones, possibly of people you knew, maybe people who knew n your family. To reiterate - the way to enter the place of worship involved going through a place filled with reminders that we are made from earth, and to the earth we shall return (psalm 103 and proverbs / Ecclesiastes probably…)
Anyway, they referenced John Witvliet, book, Worship Seeking Understanding, teaches us “How Common Worship Forms Us for Our Encounter with Death.” There he makes the case that worship helps us see that “Christianity is nothing if not a way of thinking about death” (p. 291).
