funny how you’re posting about the use of Ai when you use it to write for you.

i’ve said it before on here and i’ll say it again; i’m sorry if my writing reads as blandly or as bad as something ai would produce, but i never have and never will use ai in my works. ever.

this isn’t the first time i’ve been accused and yes, i understand that since there are so many ai “writers” nowadays in fandom spaces, it’s only fair that readers are more weary with the work they consume. however, it is very damaging to writers when people start throwing around accusations, especially when there’s no evidence or substance behind their claims

writing is my passion, and my fics — no matter how bland or shitty — are MY fics. not some bullshit ai can produce

Allow me to tell a story. Back in early spring, when I re-joined the app, I got a few asks regarding AI usage in my writing. What I’ve learned since then is that this is a very common accusation, originating from insecure people that are looking to say ‘you use AI!!!!’ as a way to make themselves feel better about their own writing skills, that are usually subpar at best. It stems from the thought process of ‘oh, this writing is really good, it must be AI.’ I then proceeded to change the way I use em-dashes as a way to prove my innocence, which was so stupid, because I should never have felt the need to ‘prove myself.’ Now, I could care less.

I was an English minor in college. I know more words than a thesaurus. Not to mention AI WAS TRAINED ON HUMAN WORK. H U M A N W O R K.

It’s really unfortunate to see one of my favorite writers on this app receiving the same kind of messages.

AI writing is extremely easy to catch, as someone who works in a field where AI is widely accepted and used as an everyday tool. It is completely obvious to the reader. It reads like a robot. The dialogue is the same, the words are the same, the pattern repetition is the same, everything is the same. So when you read April‘s work… in what universe does that read like a robot? That’s so fucking condescending and incredibly disrespectful to her and to any other writer.

Before you send in asks like this, you should genuinely ask yourself what kind of proof you have that someone is using AI, because I’m telling you I know multiple ‘authors’ on this app that are using AI and you’re all falling for it like little clowns.

As a little test for you, perhaps you should go into ChatGPT (not for too long because it kills trees and water) and ask it to write you a story. See what it comes up with, and then compare that to April’s work. When you see that it’s nothing like hers, then maybe you’ll realize that you shouldn’t throw around stupid little accusations.

The people that use AI to ‘write’ are on bangtumblr and trust me: April is not one of them.

Anons like these are the reason why people leave Tumblr and quit writing altogether. I’ve seen this happen on AO3 with some of my favorite writers and I’ve also seen this happen on wattpad. Let’s get a fucking grip on reality. Thank you. ❤️ Love you April!
