--At 19, Prince wrote, "There is one element that might be a drawback in my career...l can't read a note of music. It hasn't gotten in the way yet. Maybe it will later, but I doubt it." Prince was right about that! On his first album, "For You," Prince recorded the vocals, both lead and background, and played all the instruments, drums, piano, and bass synthesizers: 27 instruments in all.
