Today at Wovenplay, we are brainstorming about the upcoming collection,  Fall 14/15 and Aventuur. 

We have just received new silk fabrics for the costumes and tutus and we're hand-dyeing the velvet flowers to reach the perfect tone.

We love to dye with coffee, tea, natural and environmentally low-impact dyes which give us infinite possibilities to create new and original colors.

Katherine, the designer, is inspired most by beautiful hand-work and color; these inspirations feed her ever-lasting desire to embellish and manipulate materials, texture, and structure.

At Wovenplay, it is very important to us that each of our products are hand-finished, especially when they are not completely made from scratch. 

One of the techniques that we utilize several times a week in the Wovenplay studio is screen-printing.  Screen-printing is a classic printing techniques that uses a woven mesh to support an ink-blocking stencil, in order to receive a desired image. 

At Wovenplay, we use screen printing on the knit dresses, the socks, the aventuur costumes, the leather necklaces, and the dolls socks!  We can screen print on almost anything, making each and every piece unique!

Today, Ivy made dolls socks from scratch.  She began by printing a fuscia diamond pattern on the fabric, then finished by sewing them together.

At Wovenplay, even the dolls have hand-printed, tailored socks!
