âFioreâs most ELIGIBLE BACHELOR?!â Juvia cried out in horror, looking at the magazine she held in front of her with terror in her eyes. Gray took up the whole cover of the newest issue of âSorcerer Weeklyâ. He was posed with his hands in his pockets, and his white long sleeve shirt was unbuttoned all the way down. He gave a suggestive smirk to the camera, as his eyes pierced through the piece of paper. Surrounded him were hearts and things like âAn Icy Hunkâ, âA Heroâ, and âOne of Fairy Tailâs Bestâ. The header of the magazine read âFioreâs Most Eligible Bachelorâ, a phrase that made Juviaâs skin crawl.
âT-this canât be! There must be a mistake! Sure, my darling Gray is handsome but he is certainly NOT an eligible bachelor!â Juvia spilled, tears flowing down her face and onto the nightmare that was in her hands. She threw the magazine to the side and then her face down onto the table she sat at, sobbing into the hard surface.
Lucy leaned over and put a hand on Juviaâs shoulder. âItâs just a magazine, Juvia! I bet the only reason he was even given this spot was because of all the stuff that just happened with Alvarez. Heâs a big name right now! All of Fairy Tail is!â Lucy did her best to ease Juviaâs nerves.
âLucy-san is right, Juvia-san! Itâs not a big deal!â Wendy was on the other side of her also giving words of reconcile.
âBut why does it have to be Gray-sama!?â She wailed, still face down into the table. âWhy couldnât it have been Natsu-san?!â
âAlright, well letâs not say that!â Lucy said, slightly defensive.
Juvia sniffled and lifted herself back up. âHow could sorcerer weekly not even mention Juvia?! We have been an item for years now! Weâre practically married!â
âUhh, does Gray know about all those years of you guys being âan itemâ?â Lucy air quoted and scoffed, popping a hole in Juviaâs fantastical bubble, causing Wendy to chuckle. So they werenât really dating, but still, Juvia knew they were not just friends, and this cover just felt like a slap in the face.
Juvia ignored Lucy trying to bring her back to reality. âThis is horrible.â She planted her elbows on the table and burried her face in her hands.
âYouâre just overreacting, Juvia-san!â Wendy leaned forward.
âYeah, seriously.â Lucy agreed. âNothing is going to change!â
Juvia turned her head to face Lucy and sniffed. âYou really think so?â
Lucy smiled. âI know so.â
Soon after, Gray came into the guild, and following him was a pack of girls, doting behind him.
Lucy and Wendy sunk into their seats at Juvia shot death glares at both of them âNothing will change, huh?â She growled at Lucy.
âThey- uh- theyâre probably just friends!â Lucy nervously chuckled.
âGraaay! Youâre so much hotter in person!â One of the girls called out as they all followed him to the bar.
âIs that so?â Juvia twitched. âAny more words of wisdom you would like to give Juvia?â She scowled back and forth between Wendy and Lucy, and they had nothing else to say.
With her blood boiling, she arose from the table and approached the six leeches that surrounded Gray.
âHi, Gray-sama!â Juvia put on a fake sweet smile and nudged through the girls, sitting beside him at the bar.
âHey, Juvia.â He said simply. It was like he didnât even notice the whole fan club he had behind him. The girls were grumbling and mutttering things under their breath, seeming displeased with Juviaâs presence.
âCan I have a moment with you? Alone, please?â Juvia asked.
âUh, sure, but make it quick.â Gray turned to the girls. âYou guys wait here. Iâll be back in a minute.â He gave them a smile that made Juviaâs heart implode. Why would he smile at them like that?! Was he enjoying their attention?!
Juvia pulled him to the other side of the bar. âWho are all those girls, Gray-sama? And why were you on the cover of Sorcerer Weekly as âFioreâs Most Eligible Bachelor?â She put her hands in her hips and gave an angry pout.
âOh, right, about that,â He inhaled and scratched the back of his head. âThe editor of the magazine contacted me. They asked if I could do this photo shoot, and then there would be a competition. A bunch of girls entered and then they picked six girls, and those six girls get to spend the day with me. Itâs like a publicity thing.â He gave a sigh out of what seemed to be exhaustion. âI wasnât too keen on the whole idea, but it pays good.â He shrugged.
âStill, you couldâve at least told Juvia about it!â
âWhy?!â Her stomach turned, and her eyes almost popped out of her head. He was being so dense! Even for him! âBecause are swarming you and-â
âOh, would you stop.â He groaned. âYou really think Iâm interested in any of them?â
âW-well,â She was more calmed and timid.
âWell, Iâm not.â Gray finished. âSo just leave me alone for today and let me do my job.â He said in annoyance and turned back around to the bar.
Juvia wasnât exactly sure how to feel. She was slightly put at ease by Gray saying he wasnât interested, but she still didnât like it one bit. Not only that, but he had been so cold to her about it. She slumped over and began to make her way back to the table with Lucy and Wendy and minded her own business, as much as it killed her.
Gray made his way back over to the bar and socialize with the group of girls. As much as it drained him, it was part of the job, and he wasnât about to quit.
âSorry about that, ladies.â He gave them an apologetic smile.
âItâs alright, Gray!â One of them giggled.
âSo,â A girl leaned onto him as he sat back down at the bar. âIs that the rain girl you were just talking to?â
Gray felt a pinch of annoyance at the term ârain girlâ.
âYeah.â He brushed it off. âHer names Juvia.â
âOh thatâs right!â Another one chimed in. âI heard sheâs got a huge crush on you. Thatâs all she talks about in Sorcerer Weekly.â
Gray gave an uncomfortable chuckle. âUh, yeah. Something like that.â
âI know all about her.â The girl continued. âSheâs like obsessed with you!â The girls laughed.
âShe can definitely be a handful sometimes.â He snorted.
âUgh, I canât even imagine.â One of the girls scooted right next to him, curling one of her arms around his and leaned onto his shoulder.
Gray flinched. âY-yeah.â He cringed and looked away, trying his best not to let these girls get to his goat.
âOh my god, she is so weird!â A girl towards the back said. âSheâs staring at us!â Gray and the rest of the girls peered around to see Juvia staring at them, and her eyes looked crushed. Once she noticed they saw her looking, she jumped and turned away, making conversation with Lucy and Wendy.
âEw! What a creep!â The girl on his arm exlcaimed, causing Gray to subconsciously snarl.
âLetâs go tell her to get lost.â The girl in te back decided, and the rest of the girls began to follow, besides the girl curled up against him.
âYou all need to chill out.â Gray finally said, causing the girls to stop in her tracks. They were shocked by his sudden agitation. It seemed like it came out of nowhere.
âHuh?â One of the girls said.
âYou heard me.â He scowled as his whole body clenched.
âWhat do you care? Sheâs just some girl that has a weird thing for you.â She said back with disgust. âNot only that, but the only reason people think sheâs something worthwhile is because sheâs a member if Fairy Tail. Sheâs nothing special.â The girl went off on an obviously jealous tangent.
âSheâs not just some girl, alright?â His voice rose. âAnd really, Iâm the one doing you a favor, causeâ if you went over there and tried to start something she would kick your ass.â
âIâd like to see her try!â She argued back.
âThen go ahead. Be my guest. None of you are even half the mage or person Juvia is.â He spat out, and he could feel his face turning red with anger.
âWhy are you defending her so much like youâre into her? I thought you were Fioreâs most eligible bachelor!â The girl on his arm exclaimed.
âYeah, not quite.â He shook the girl off his arm and stood up from the bar.
âSo that freak is your girlfriend?â She yelled out, sounding hurt.
âItâs none of your damn business what she is to me.â He pierced the girl with a serious glare.
âAll of you, scram. And tell Jason he can keep his money. No payment is enough for me to have to listen to this shit.â He exclaimed as he scowled at all of the girls and walked through them, leaving them completely flustered before they scurried out of the guild with distress.
Gray approached the table where Juvia sat with Lucy and Wendy, and she was still noticeably grieving.
âHey.â Gray called out, making direct eye contact with Juvia. She looked up and was shocked he was even talking to her.
âHiâŠâ Juvia replied, unsure.
âLetâs go grab something to eat.â
âEh?â Juvia jumped. âBut what about those girls?â
âScrew emâ. They were starting to piss me off.â Gray crossed his arms, still annoyed.
Juvia quickly stood up from the table and Lucy and Wendy smiled to each other. âJuvia will talk to you later, Lucy-san and Wendy-sanâ She nodded and excused herself to be with Gray.
Then it was just the two of them. âWhat did they say that made Gray-sama so upset?â Juvia asked, curiously.
âDoesnât matter.â He grumbled.
âIt must matter to some extent. You completely blew them off.â She was still confused as to Grayâs sudden change of heart.
âIt was just some stupid stuff, alright? Letâs drop it.â Gray blushed with a cute frustrated look on his face, and Juvia wasnât sure what was said between him and the girls, but for some reason she had a good feeling about it.
âSure, Gray-sama.â She smiled.
Lucy and Wendy were back at the guild, giggling amongst one another.
âSee? I knew everything would be fine.â Lucy proudly folded her arms, feeling a sense of accomplishment.
âNo matter what happens between those two, they always end up with each other in the end. Itâs sweet.â Wendy smiled.
Lucy turned to the door of the guild where she saw Gray and Juvia walking out. Juvia had leaned herself up against Gray who seemed to protest for a moment, but then just continued walking with Juvia at his side. They fit perfectly with one another, like a puzzle.
She grinned with admiration. âYeah. It sure is.â
