i’m asking for advice from anyone who has experience with adhd. i feel like i have to choose between a career and a partner. i’m so excited for my job (i’m going into the music industry) but it seems like every time i find someone to be interested in, i immediately become hyperfixated and my professional endeavors suffer. i stop working so hard, i stop writing songs, etc.

i want my career to be my priority, i really really love it, but the novelty and excitement of a crush or a relationship always distracts me. my brain can’t seem to let go of the hyperfixation, even when 95% of me wants to.

do i just take measures ahead of time that i can guarantee will keep me out of a relationship? should i not fight it? how do i have both?
