The memory of Hussain
“The similitude of the one who covets this world is as the caterpillar: the more silk it spins around itself, the harder it makes its exit for itself, until it dies of grief.”
— Imam al-Baqir (a.s.), al-Kafi, v. 2, p. 316, no. 7
“Do not speak about your money in front of a poor person. Do not speak about your health in front of a sick person. Do not speak about your power in front of a weak person. Do not speak about your happiness in front of a sad person. Do not speak about your freedom in front of a prisoner. Do not speak about your children in front of an infertile person. Do not speak about your mother and father in front of an orphan. Because their wounds cannot bear more.”
-Ameer ul-Mu'mineen Sayyiduna Ali ibn Abi Talib رضي الله عنه
the whole point of religion is being highly aware that there is a higher power which by default should humble your postition as a creation on this earth so I don’t even understand how people can produce so much arrogance and superiority once they have decided to indulge in religious practices
I am 25 and I have never been in love. That’s one of those facts that makes me Sit and stew and sigh like a dog on One of his off days.
I am 25 and I have never been in love. But I once drove twenty minutes to a Bakery to get my friend a cake for her 16th birthday with the face of her Favorite band on it. And she told me That was her favorite thing she’s ever Gotten and we watched fireworks all night.
I am 25 and I have never been in love. But I have held someone after a breakup As they cried and cried and cried, And gave them my favorite jam and tea And told them that if love is an anchor That means it is also a boat. You will find Your way to harbor again.
I am 25 and I have never been in love. But I have raised terrified kittens in my Bedroom. You let them sniff you first, You always let them sniff you, you put Out food, you don’t give chase. You wait. And one day they come to you. And sit on your lap and purr like A motor terraforming Mars itself.
I am 25 and I have never been in love. But I have picked myself up after all My worst days and given myself soup When I’m so sick I can’t stand And given myself cakes on the days I feel Like dead ashes and tape that’s lost its stickiness. I have licked my own wounds and healed my own Bruises, I have called myself beautiful Even when I don’t feel it.
I am 25 and I have never been in love. But maybe I have.
I️ just read a quote that said “Never be the reason someone asked God for peace” and wow. God forgive me for the times I’ve been the toxic person in someone’s life.
“Marhum Majlisi has a saying about the matter where Shaytan said, “I will come to them from in front of them and from behind them, and on their left and on their right” (Quran 7:17). Shaytan did not mention from the top or from the bottom. It becomes clear then that these two directions are open, because these two directions are the paths to God. Either we raise our hands up toward the sky and say, “Oh God!” or we fall down to the ground and say, “Oh God!” When these path are open, why not choose to take them?”
— Ayatollah Javadi Amoli
““There is nothing more beloved to Allah than the performance of an action that is maintained regularly, even if it be little.””
— Imam al-Baqir (a), al-Kafi, v. 2, p. 82, no. 3
“We often add to our pain and suffering by being overly sensitive, over reacting to minor things, and sometimes taking things too personally.”
— Dalai Lama (via naturaekos)
don’t compromise on how you want to be loved
“We love shadows of our hidden selves in others.”
— Anaïs Nin, from “The Four-Chambered Heart,” originally published c. 1950
