One thing I just realized i really appreciate about Tamora Pierce's worlds? They have prostitutes. Even in her books aimed at a younger teen audience they exist. And they are usually depicted as strong reasonable men and women who have chosen sex work as a way to make their way in the world and the only ones who make a fuss about them are also typically the people who the MCs are having to push back against in their quests to be respected female warriors and leaders, so sex workers end up being framed as people to work with against oppressive systems.
i think “video games aren’t really the violent child-corrupting threat some parents worry they are” and “certain circles of gamer culture are incredibly toxic and can lead people down dangerous/hateful ideological rabbit holes” are ideas that can absolutely coexist
