if i had a nickel for every best friend named *** who was in my life when my system uncovered that i had been sexually abused my entire childhood by a close family member (which triggered a mental health rock bottom that included daily vivid flashbacks, active suicidality, and trying to process 23 years of repressed trauma at once which essentially made me feel like i was living through it real time). and i had to spend a few months focusing on staying alive and not failing out of uni and that made it really hard to spend time with my friends (on top of the other severe ptsd symptoms such as distrusting others, fatigue, and low mood). and then when i came out of it i apologized to *** and explanined the situation and that i loved and valued them despite being distant the last few months and hoped theyd understand. and *** said that wasnt good enough and they didnt forgive me

id have two nickels. which isnt a lot but its weird it happened twice

the ones we've met and identified and were loved but are no longer around despite how hard we know they fought (for example we know of one alter who was a major caretaker and soother in 2022 but shattered into a bunch of fragments because of a horrid psychosis episode that she took the weight of so no one else would have to) (she fought for us to make it farther, to not loose the fight that day)

and for the ones who split or merged before sysdiscovery and we'll never truly know about but have stories we'll never hear

we continue to defend the body they worked to keep alive till they were gone, because sure they'll never see the sunrise on the other side but we will, people they knew will see it even because they fought for us

this is a brilliant reason to keep going. how beautiful to honor them.
