Letters to a young poet by Rainer Maria Rilke
'Are you always up this early?' I asked him. 'Almost always,' he said without looking up. 'It's beautiful here, but morning light can make the most vulgar things tolerable'.
Donna Tartt | 'The Secret History'

āAnd I add my own love to the history of people who have loved beautiful things, and looked out for them, and pulled them from the fire, and sought them when they were lost, and tried to preserve them and save them while passing them along literally from hand to hand, singing out brilliantly from the wreck of time to the next generation of lovers, and the next.ā
The Goldfinch, Donna Tartt.

can anyone recommend me any poc dark academia movies? I have a list of 70 movies on my list at the moment but theyāre mostly all-white casts with minor poc characters if there are any non-white characters at all. Even tv shows and books are also appreciated (Iām already working on my book list)
Underrated Dark Academia Books
because iāve seen the same 10 books on every list and all the books are good but thereās more to dark academia than the secret history
The Robber Bride by Margaret Atwood - about a group of friends from university who are bound together by their destructive relationships with one seductive classmate
The Catcher in the Rye by J D Salinger - obviously not underrated in general but Iāve never seen this book mentioned in dark academia rec lists
Vicious by V E Schwab - a mix of dark academia and superhero, this story reveals what happens when a student goes too far in trying to prove his theory
Long Black Veil by Jennifer Finney Boylan - a group of university friends go through a harrowing experience when one of their friends is murdered; very reminiscent of the secret history while still being fresh and original; an own voices queer story
please add on any other stories you feel are underrated in the dark academia community!
we are all museums of fear.

Homer, Odyssey 20:18
dark academia composer and book recs!!
-Another Country by James Baldwin is my fav classic of all time i literally cannot recommend it enough !!!! click here for the summary!
-Tchaikovsky is my favorite classical composer ever- highly suggest Swan Lake and the 1812 overture, v good basics 2 listen 2 if you wanna get into him !
-Shostakovich is another good composer, my fav song by him is Allegro non troppo
-not technically a classic, but i adore Der Marquis Von Keith by Frank Wedekind!!! highly suggest anything by him tho hes a fantastic author
-i Do Not like poetry, but i am obsessed with all of Allen Ginsbergs works omgggggg. obv Howl is his most famous and i would recommend reading that, but my personal fav is A Supermarket in California
-ik everybody hates him but Richard Wagner is a good composer ok. Das Rheingold is my fav opera ever, and i love Woglindes lullaby !!!
Bitches be like "I'm okay." and then watch dead poets society 377536584785. times
So Iām currently reading āThe Great Mughals and Their Indiaā by Dirk Collier and as a person who has never dabbled into history before, it is very much engaging !!
The funniest thing I came across while perusing this book was that when Babur triumphed in the battle of Panipat and came to have much of the subcontinent under his control (a new feat for a Timurid prince and quite impressive one for that), many people of his clan as well as army were very bitter about living there and wanted to leave because the weather was not pleasant!!! Like the weather was not pleasant!! And itās soo funny because Iām a native of south east Asia and I still abhor the weather lmao š
