I have recently picked up a role as a wise old bird – typecast again! – so I spent a bit of time putting a new voice reel together. I have been specializing in Voice of God, Audiobooks and Documentary narrations, hopefully this reel demonstrates those various roles.
I have just launched my Poetry and Short story channel on YouTube. You might enjoy it during a bit of 'downtime' - please take a look! 👍 https://www.youtube.com/@thedragonreads Ian
It is a truth universally acknowledged that a novelist, having completed their novel, is in want of an agent. (with apologies to Jane Austen) Please Repost! 😉
Slimming World’s Awards night is a highlight of the year. And this year was no different. Slimming World took over the ICC in Birmingham and invited over 1300 Consultants from all over the country. I had the great pleasure of being the announcer on the night. It was great fun and wonderful to be associated with such a great brand.

Great to have a small part in this as ‘the voice behind the curtain’ :-)
Killed facing dangers he knew, fears he loved; betrayed by a machine he had built himself.
The full screenplay behind the life of the man who died in this car is complete.

New Children’s story on Kindle
Just published a children’s story on kindle, a fully illustrated story about a grumpy dragon - https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B088D2XBNM/ref=sr_1_1?dchild=1&keywords=dragon+g&qid=1589012558&s=digital-text&sr=1-1

WFH? Avoid slippers!
One of the problems with working from home is the relaxing effect of wearing slippers. They’re comfy, soft, and ideal for slobbing around the place. Only when you’re working at home - you’re not slobbing - and the damn things turn me into and informal, slapdash, ne'er do well!
So the slippers are off and I’m onto some stout sensible shoes. Brogues are a good start if you want to be taken seriously when ordering pizza or more wine! Or, indeed when carving out cutting invective from the raw core of gold that is lurking in my befuddled brain…
Bring on the Grensons!
A poem I wrote some time ago...
Maureen is sixty
Maureen is sixty,
Oh jolly well done old thing,
And some-one has put a sign up,
It’s enough to make you sing,
Maureen is sixty,
Her friend has let everyone know,
He tied a sign to the pedestrian bridge,
Fifteen weeks ago,
Maureen is sixty,
At least that’s what I read,
The sign’s been up so flamin’ long,
I think she’s probably dead.

Talking Quickly - the bit at the end of the ad.
Radio Ads can be brilliant, they can be lousy too. But they all have a little strap line at the end that contains the legal catch all. Here is my take on it.
Kindle book store
I have just published three children’s stories on kindle. They’re perfect for five to eight year olds and feature the adventures of Patrick and his motley crew of pirates. Here’s Ruby, she’s one of them. The link below takes you to ‘Patrick and the Whale’:-

Tuesdays are the crappiest day
Tuesdays are rubbish. The worst day of the week by a mile. They are just a nothing.
Monday, OK it’s a bit of a drag, back to work and all that; but Tuesday - God! It’s nothing like as good as Wednesday, which is a great day;
‘Humpday’ the middle of the week - get over this and we’re nearly at Thursday!
Hurrah for Thursday, the day before Friday and we all love Friday.
You can even have a bit of a late one on a Thursday with a few bevvies thrown in because Friday is a nice easy day.
I really hate Tuesday - it’s a nothing day; except that all the crap things happen on Tuesday and there’s nothing to make you feel good about turning up.
Next Tuesday - just stay in bed!
Posted this in a Thursday - only just recovered from last Tuesday…

Bloody Raspberries
I’m going to have to paint my lawn green and it’s all because of the Bloody Raspberries.
On a whim this morning, before it got too hot, I decided to cut back the old raspberry canes. Then I intended to tie the new canes to the fence panel straight away but realised it was badly in need of painting first.
After a trip to the shops, to buy paint and brush, I painted the single fence panel in the same green colour as before, and can now tie the new raspberry canes in place.
The only thing is, now all the other fence panels look shabby.
So I start on them, it’s now near lunchtime, and nail the tops of the panels back in place. After that I trim the blackcurrant bush ready to tie that back too but I have to put some support wires in place and then paint that panel…It’s close to tea time now!
Then I noticed that some fence paint has got on the lawn. A single green patch of lawn on an otherwise parched desert.
So now I’ve got to paint the lawn
Bloody raspberries…
