actual Tumblr Social Justice problems:
- antisemitism is often veiled as “combating white supremacy” - lack of focus on mental illnesses besides depression - honest mistakes tend to be poorly dealt with - “callout culture” (people looking for others to mess up, solely in order to defame them) - in-depth education on terms tends to be scarce, leading to people having only a vague understanding of terms, and using them - bigots are able to redefine these (poorly-defined) terms in ways that hurt the oppressed - emotional manipulation / guilt-tripping (“i see my followers ignoring this”; “why is nobody talking about this?”)
re-reblogging cause i thought of things
Excessive and abusive punishment of young teenagers over mistakes made in discourse they don’t completely understand by bloggers much older than they are
US-centrism
Reliance on fear of retribution for spread of information (contributes to rapid spread of misinformation)
Moral absolutism - the line between “perfect innocent angel” and “disgusting shit trash” can be as thin as one mistake
Reliance on followed blogs for education about social issues
Transatlantic Poetry Session 1: An Ode To Your Red Summer | 8/9/2015
jamesandrewcrosby and Jordan Alan Brown
This poetry session by James and Jordan is really interesting. First, both poets bring their own visual aesthetic that doesn’t clash but rather compliment one another. In particular, James’s thin and long handwriting offers the excellent opposition to Jordan’s bold and short handwriting. Also, you’re pretty much free to read this collection in any order. You could read horizontally, or up and down, sort of in a zig zag. Read them out of order at random. Make this narrative emotion work for you, in other words. Every approach to reading leads to a different response. Go on: play around with the order of the poetry a bit. See what you get.

Have you seen Tony Valente’s French Manga opus, Radiant? It was recently acquired by Japanese publisher Asukashinsha just days ago, thanks to the help & support from One-Punch Man artist Yusuke Murata. This puts Valente in rare territory, marking his manga as the 1st French Manga published in Japan. Awesome guy, too. Thanks for the signed copies, bro!^^

Star Wars looks beautiful reimagined as Japanese prints. The technique being used is known as ukiyo-e, a style of printing that was popular through the 17th to 19th centuries in Japan.
