The Future Who

Unpredictable, even in faith, the future holds nothing but opportunity. These opportunities are limitless in physical and mental possibility. I have plans, goals, ambitions, beliefs, physical and mental being in present, though have no true understanding of what I’ll become in the future. Only my drive and pursuit of passion will send me in the direction I want. 

Nicholas Rufenacht, 27, has become an internet sensation. Through his contributions in cinematography and film, he has created a new standard for content creation. Working on numerous films since he was 21, Nicholas has achieved the status of the first person under 30 to become a billionaire through personal contributions and effort. He is most notable in his film production of documentaries on urban life. His documentary series was focused on the effects of brotherhood in gangs and their purpose in all attributions of society. The film touched the hearts of many far and wide, appealing to many audiences. 

Since then, Nicholas has become a self-managed entrepreneur, with the ambition to continue and pursue his passion for film and other content creation. Furthermore, Nicholas has contributed to many foundations for young students showing an interest in any form of fine arts. He had this to say when we asked him about his contributions; “I didn’t come up with much. I had food, a roof over my head, and a place to sleep, but I wasn’t provided with the resources to do what I do now right away. I had to work for what I have now, and I would never trade what I did for anything else. What I do now, is to help those kids be better than me.” 

Nicholas’ fame came from his early days at the age of 17. Him and Peyton Keller, a now also well known writer and beat maker, came up to their fame over their song ‘Ho Gang’. ‘Ho Gang’ was a Christmas parody off the song ‘Gucci Gang’, which was a popular song for the year, bringing in hundreds of millions of views across all platforms. While the duo’s parody song didn’t near the publicity of the original, it gathered the attention of many, bringing them to an almost instant fame. They capitalized. 

Nicholas is expected to play a lead role in the film ‘Avengers: Infinite Return’. Acting is a new ‘pick-up’ for Nicholas, and he plans to put all of his efforts into changing his career path, stating “It’s time for change, and that’s always good. I’ve gotten too comfortable and I need a new sensation. I am optimistic acting will do this for me.” 

‘Avengers: Infinite Return’ comes out in July 2028.

I Hate It, You Love It

‘Hocus Pocus’ has no focus and should’ve drowned out of the box, office that is. Racking up an all mighty impressive 32% first rating on ‘Rotten Tomatoes’, It’s no surprise people came around to like it. That is how most movies go isn’t it? Starts off terrible, then finds a way to get people to like it regardless. Maybe everyone just fell in love with the movie’s stupidity, or maybe, they were just spelled.  

Either way, I think it’s only fair to comment now that I agree with the ‘Rotten Tomatoes’ rating. ‘Hocus Pocus’ has little background to start with, leaving the viewer guessing constantly as to what is actually going on. It seems to have characters born into the role of facing danger and death without actual concept of danger and death. It is unrealistic and corny, leaving no surprise as to how It became an oh-so popular Halloween classic. 

Terrible make-up gives this movie the wrong vibes the writers were looking for. While centered around Halloween, you’d think that some of the main characters, like the witches, would actually have good costume design, featuring grotesque detail of every imaginable way. You’ve been duped by the crowd again! The movie feels like a constant drag for attention at a Halloween costume contest, battling between modern day age and a century before. 

I’ll cut you the word count, and move on from any superficial argument. Though valid to a movie critique, I have a tingling sense that anyone looking at this may just want to argue the simple fact that It is a “classic”. By no means will I discredit anyone’s thoughts on that, for even I can admit I still watch it in an overly giddy excitement every season. 

‘Hocus Pocus’ seems dedicated to trying to develop a plot, though lacking any character development to intrigue me in it any bit. I’ve already distracted myself with poor acting and overly dramatized ‘scariness’ to even find any interest in a plot. Perhaps that it is the plan all along, to trick people into thinking that poor movies actually have value. I mean, come on, have you seen ‘Sharknado’. Or any of the 4 million sequels that somehow got CGI funding, yet had no one that knew how to work it?

I’m no Grinch to any season, but a speculator on anything anyone considers to be ‘good’. I welcome anyone to disagree, argue, or complain that what I say doesn’t even matter anyways. No time spent, is any time wasted, and I’ll still find myself spending time sitting down eating my siblings Halloween candy, watching those oh-so great classics. Though, ‘The night before Christmas’ actually is an oh-so great classic, so, fight me.

Writing Prep

I feel like, and for the sake of this being a public post, I should title it appropriately. Hence the name Writing prep, as I’m not really sure why I’m even giving this a public domain. 

My Feature Story is going to be focused around the concept of influential teachers making a change in the way they treat the classroom. Furthermore I will focus directly on what the teachers are doing differently, if there are studies that suggested the methods, and whether or not they are seeing it becoming an effective and widespread adopted methodology of teaching a classroom. 

In the context of asking questions and developing interviews, I do have a few rough ideas of questions I want to ask. For example, I believe that it would be beneficial to ask as I previously mentioned; “What are you doing differently than other classrooms?”, “What motivated you to teach this way?”, and “Has this been effective in reaching goals?”. Furthermore than questions focusing just on the method, I’d like to get slightly more personable, asking where the teacher went to school, what the classroom was like, and whether or not they enjoyed it. For the sake of adding questions for brevity, I think a few yes/no questions would be appropriate as well. Such as ‘would you like to have been taught in a classroom like the one you teach?’. 

Other than asking the teachers, asking the students what they feel about the style of teaching is  valuable as well. However, the hard part comes onto me on how do I reach out to not only these kids, but their parents, to get permissions to give them some questions. That being said, my brother is in an alternative learning environment at his school developed and taught by his teacher, that gives me an inside source of information that I can use. 

Granted, this is a standard outline, though my information previously given will suffice to fill it out. Given this is insight into my own process of writing, I need a generic outline which I will later on then develop, then further into a paper/story that makes sense.

Happiness Is Not Alone

I’m not going to dramatize anything. I think that happiness is a great feeling, though always temporary. I tend not to think too much about my feelings let alone give anyone else a window into seeing what I’m feeling. I see it as a sort of safeguard for my temporary self. I can’t even think of one time that I let someone know of how I was feeling without someone then later on, somehow in the worst timing, ask If I was still feeling okay. So forgive me, I’m no good at exploring my personal thoughts.

The happiest moment of my life would probably be when I came to the realization that my best friend would always be my best friend. Now, I say the word probably in thought that there really is no telling when I was my happiest. There is no magical scale to deem one moment happier than the other. I chose this moment though, while not timestamped by a specific date, in hopes that I would look back in so many years and be able to feel what I felt.

Coming to the realization that my best friend would remain so, happened not by particular event but by random thought. It was constant communication back and forth of the things we enjoy, and our similarities in what we want to do in life. I understand we are young, and I understand life is a curveball splitter with no true destination. Unless of course you for some reason believe that there is some fate that exists in this world. To each their own I suppose. 

Through communication, not talking, not listening, but both, I came to my thought in pure happiness. It was our understanding for each other that drove our friendship, and it is the character of our personalities that made us so compatible. 

My feelings for this were pure, clouded by no other thought and no conflict, as they tend to be. This feeling of purity made me ecstatic, imagining a perfect life for not only myself, but now him. True friendship is looking forward to not only your future, but your friends, for their interests and not your own.

 If it wasn’t for him, I probably wouldn’t be typing this.

A Narrative?

‘It’s just the wind’, I told myself as I drifted aloft in space. ‘It’s just the wind’, I said as I tried desperately to remember home. But that’s just it. It is, ‘It is’, as if there was an it, but there was nothing. If of course nothing meant something, then yes I remember the nothingness. I couldn’t tell you about my trip because the story is short and without depth to keep you interested any longer than it takes you to say ‘tell me more’, I’d be done saying ‘nothing’.

Space is unlike anything else. When we look up at the night sky we see something, but only define it as space. But space implies that the area is unoccupied. Now we, no, I now, just me alone, occupy space. It is no longer space, it is my home, population, me. Pry and pry as you did against my own will, I will divulge into my journey through my new home that I will never call home.

After Earth finally caught up with human progression, it realized it didn’t like what we were doing, and created its own plan to destroy us again, just as God did before with his oh so ‘Great Flood’ that we survived. I suppose here you could call me Noah, and my ship an Ark, but that gives off the idea that my intentions were to save humanity; Rubbish. I took my leave from that dying rock and came here; home away from home, never ending nothingness on my own free will, without any company. Its been at least 7 counts through my fingers for months and a toe here and there, but I began to care less and less for my humanity and keeping track of the days that we created on space rock one. I found it disturbing to consider that I was trying to maintain constructs from the very place that I voluntarily left alone. More comforting to me now to think that I am in control of what I call things. When I find home, number two, three if you count the nothingness, I will start it day 1. Years will be 6 months long, months will be called snappers, and days will be called Nicks; because what great voyager and founder doesn’t name something permanent after himself?

I am no holy deity to my own eyes, and to my understanding, probably no one else. Especially the count of people I left behind. I took off without them for fear they would want to call the new days after themselves and not myself, the original one with the idea to leave. I had little remorse for them and their sorrow, maybe a little for the children, but to Hell with that emotion because I have run out of food. Probably at least 3 toes and a whole 4 counts through the fingers earlier if I had brought them with, so I am grateful for my arrogance.

I wrote this letter to you, whomever you may be, and of course should you care enough or even be not stupidly primitive enough to understand it; let us hope you aren’t, so that you may not wonder who I am, what I am, or where I came from, but rather wonder about my legacy. I wrote this to you so that you may see that I am a person, and not food, unless of course you are in my situation without any, and wish to consume my most flesh like parts. Though these last few weeks I’ve been rationing the crackers, and the flesh left on me may be fickle and lack luster to your desire. If in the case that this is your situation, please, eat me.

My name is of no importance, but for the sake that you may want to create a statue in memoriam of me, call me Dick. The greatest and only Dick to ever voyage through space on his own. Good day, and good night.

Revolutionary Songs of The Modern World

The quickest way to look back into our modern history and see how we’ve progressed and changed is through the music of that time. Here I will be reminiscing about the greatest songs that have ever hit the public.

Taking it back to 1991, and starting off a bit slower paced, my first song is ‘I do it for you’ by Bryan Adams. 

This song was revolutionary in its ability to not only change a teary moment into a monsoon from the eyes, but also that it topped the charts for 16 WEEKS straight. This song will never be outdated, and it will always have a place in our world.

The next song is ‘Macarena’ by Los Del Rio.

This song’s importance and relevance to pop culture was a message of diversity and acceptance, if you cared to look that in depth. Most of us just can’t help but dance around and do the ever so famous dance whenever this comes on.

The third song is a total change of genre, yet still as influential as any other. It is ‘Crank That’ by Soulja Boy. 

This song is not only catchy and fun to try and sign along to, but it is also ‘that song’ of its decade, and whenever that came on, everyone knew what to do. Not to mention that the video is a nice break from the skinny jeans everyone is wearing now. Though the rumor is that 10 years later, his clothes still won’t fit him. 

The fourth song is ‘Happy’ by Pharrell Williams.

This video is a bit more modern than the others, but is so important and influential in its uplifting vibe and story of bringing people together and celebrating happiness. This video HAD to be in the list. 

The fifth and final song was a hard one. The artist was easy, but the song was near impossible. The fifth song is ‘Love you like a love song’ by Selena Gomez.

Given Selena’s an absolutely beautiful person with the power to influence many, many people, she deserves a spot on this list. This song in particular is talking about new beginnings and fresh starts of love and romance. This is important to a society so caught up in lust, to remember that there is something great, and it is fresh love for someone.

Writing About The Dead

I’ve got to say it’s funny, writing about someone you don’t know. For most people, they look up to stars, celebrities, idolized figures in society whom they have quotes, pictures, videos, and so many more sources to pull from to serve their point, trying to persuade you to understand why they are so great and almighty. To each their own, by I’d rather stick closer to my heritage.

The most influential person I’ve never met has to be my grandfather. While my older brother had the pleasure of meeting him, and being with him in his last few years, he passed a year before I was born, leaving me without this experience. While I wish I had met him, as I’ve only heard great things, I can’t help but think who I’d be as a person now had I met him and understood that he wasn’t all great as I’ve been told... because let’s be real for a second; no one talks bad about the dead. 

Though that isn’t the fate I got, and I love it, because it gives me this sense of moral obligation to strive to be the best person I can be so that no one has anything to think about me but too afraid to say after I pass. More so focusing on my grandfather, and a little less on me, his first name was James, as it is my middle name, for some odd reason I do feel a small sense of connection that was never there; call me crazy. 

The stories that I heard all revolved around his autonomy to society. Nothing was in his way that could bring him down, and he was always striving to be the best man he could be, for himself, not for anyone else.  While cliché and expected, I see it more personal than just a story everyone tells someone about a deceased relative. I truly believe that it is true, and that he really did impact the lives of those around him. I’m told that his nature was passed down to my dad and my uncle, whom I hold a lot of respect for. 

The charisma and character of my grandfather influenced me to only care about how things affect my life. While considerate of those around me, my life comes first in nature. My future and my opinions are the only ones that matter to me. Regardless of their truth or probability, as long as my truth holds some importance to me, who is to tell me not to believe in it. I plan to shape my life like this as I always have; to be the greatest man that I can be for myself.

Walking Into a Test I Didn’t Study For...

In the unfortunate reality that is the internet, we sure have found some awful things to laugh at. Given the video’s relevance to not only my life, but also my peers, this video really struck not only my funny bone, but also a nerve with me. We’ve all been in at least one classroom sitting down in the chair, wondering what in the hell everyone else is talking about. Or when your answer is roughly 2k numbers different than everyone else’s. This video embodies that true nature of not only school, but also life in general. That is why this is the funniest video on the Internet, in all of its awful glory.

Why Am I Here?

Why The Heck Am I Going to College?

 To sense of argument, I’m not going to college, yet.

High school is boring.

Coming from an advanced placement program where the sole purpose is to train and buffer students into idolized trophies; pounding piles and piles of work onto teenagers who will soon learn that contrary to popular belief, grades do define you, I came to a sudden and unfortunate realization that this was not the place for me. While I exceeded in my efforts, my work went unappreciated by many. Never good enough, and never soon enough, I didn’t feel I fit into their mold. I moved on after 4 years, into a public school, where I was overtaken by the new sense of freedom and lack of responsibilities, that I did not do what I had intended to do, and came nowhere near the class rank I desired. Still controlled by the ideals of ‘The Program’ I had a the mindset that I was still somehow unfit, as the work itself was far below anything I had done since my induction into that factory of a program in 7th grade. Hitting my Senior year, with no more higher level classes to take in the public school I saw myself with two options; To opt out and take an easy Senior half year, or to push what I know I can accomplish and move on with my life as I’ve always intended to do. I obviously chose the latter option.

But why College?

I found myself asking this over and over in my head when I first started my first two days, slightly overwhelmed by a new sense of responsibilities; a new feeling I’ve never felt before. It took about fifteen minutes into my first class to feel defeated and unprepared for the new life that I had taken on, but I knew I had to stick with it. For my sake of finding people I can relate to, as I have every year since I can remember, typically the year above me no matter where I went, was who I found my relations with. As they grew into adults and started applying to colleges, the options became real for me, and I knew that college was the right choice. I chose college because I had no other real option, even though I still gave myself the ultimatum of succeeding no matter what decision I chose to make.

College is not mandatory.

I’ve always been interested in film, not just the production of the media itself, but every single aspect that plays a role in it. I was interested in music, video, and creating a finalized product in modern media itself. Modern media outlets require no prerequisites, no education, and only mandate that you have a sense of responsibility to what you love and that you dedicate yourself to your craft. I am motivated and dedicated to what I believe in, and I believe there is no greater purpose to be on this earth than to explore your passions. I’d rather be homeless living on the streets, doing what I love, than making useless scraps of paper slaving away for someone else’s passions. College will give me the maturity and mindset that I need to adapt and dedicate myself to what I love, but It will never teach me how to do what I love. No matter how many classes I can take, nothing will ever completely encompass my intentions and my vision. College is no mandatory endeavor, but something I’ve been trained to believe is required. So why the heck am I in college? I really can’t answer that for myself, but maybe down the road I’ll revisit this post and know then.

If there was one saying that I could choose to end this post, it’d be that no matter how much you want to learn, if you never take a risk, you will never find knowledge.

College is my risk. Knowledge is my reward.
