Sonny’s imitation of his father spills out of him without much thought, and then it’s like it usually is, like he and Amanda are the only ones in the room. It’s not long before they’re both chuckling as he recalls how terrible his parents are at working the camera angles during the always-chaotic biweekly Carisi family Zoom calls.

“It’s a nose and mouth,” Sonny says, bemused, his hands motioning emphatically. He shakes his head. “There’s no eyes. It’s just nose and down.”

Amanda’s laughter is warm and infectious, like when you find a patch of sun outside on a chilly day and instantly that’s the only place you want to be - it always draws him in.

For the first time since before she got the initial call about Jim, since before Atlanta and hospital waiting rooms and the distance that’s crept up between the two of them, Sonny sees Amanda’s shoulders relax and her smile reach her weary eyes. Selfishly, he’s glad he gets to be the reason - glad he gets to be her respite, her relief, her comfort.

It’s never been clearer to him and he’s tired of pretending otherwise: all he wants is this, her, them. He wants them doing life together, when it’s good and easy, and when it’s not; long enough that they become the next old, married Carisis everyone speaks fondly about, especially when they’re making fools out of themselves without a care in the world.

Today of all days, after everything, something tells him Amanda Rollins might want all those things now, too.

i’m gonna say my peace and then dip but carisi getting into a “relationship” or whatever right now the writers are doing is soooo out of character it kinda hurts. and i hate more than anything the troupe of “he gets into a relationship and THEN she realizes her feelings” if that’s what they’re trying to play off of 😭 it’s not cute. love triangles aren’t cute. i appreciate and respect a slow burn more than anything, but it could be done without these middle school plot lines.

okay i assume you were talking about the scene in sonny’s office and yes it was for sure soft and they’re in love but i’m really not getting my hopes up i’ve already been hurt by this show too many times before aisbdsjsj -(sunnyrollins)

That was the scene! Usually it's Sonny trying to calm Amanda down and now we have two instances of Amanda being the supportive one saying DOmiNiCk. It just seems to be a slightly elevated level of intimacy. Not necessarily in a sexual way but in the we're-becoming-closer-as-human-beings way. Couple that with the teaser of two characters supposedly getting "closer" by New Years and there's good cause for speculation that there's some Rollisi on the horizon.

That being said, there's some serious issues to be worked out *cough* Amanda and her past choices in men *cough cough* and I would really like to see it on screen before they would ever officially get together.

But still, tonight's little tidbit is certainly more promising than not!

THINKING about how Taylor Swift’s “Ms. Americana and the Heartbreak Prince” would be the perfect song for Rollins and Carisi to finally kiss or get together in some way and here is why:

This song is inherently telling two stories at the same time: a love story and a telling about living in a tense and disappointing political climate. It hides behind phrases like “paint the town blue” and “voted most likely to run away with you”

Narratively, we have two stories sort of parrelling each other in different experiences but similar emotions. WHICH is a perfect way to describe the way svu is written in terms of storylines and relationships.

Also the BUILD UP in the bridge is truly one of my favorites ever. It chants the same disappointed, cynical mantra “cause I don’t want you to go, I don’t really want to fight, cause nobody’s gonna win.” then the last line ends hopeful and optimistic with “and I’ll never let you go, cause I know this is a fight, that someday we’re gonna win.” WHICH!!!!! i love a good parrell

The sort of innocent hopefulness this song also has in the melody and beat would fit perfectly in a ~special and important scene.

Lastly, Taylor Swift openly loves SVU. It would be cool to feature one of her songs. 🥺

You should writing a fic based on the last rollisi scene in the finale. Jk... Unless..

omg haha. i haveeee considered it to be honest but also that scene was really well done that a part of me doesn’t even want to mess with it. but who knows i might change my mind one day 👀 we’ll see.

also, while i have you, a part of that scene that no one has talked about that i have seen is the last second carisi watching rollins walk away and him exhaling when she’s gone. oof. i’m STILL crying about it lol.
