The Christmas lights cover the whole entire room, the large tree in the corner of the room giving it an extra glow. Making it more Christmasy in a way that makes it more real. Despite the season, Chris can't really say it's ever been more excited for one holiday just yet.
Not as excited as he is now.
Christmas just a mere few hours away.
Chris watches his girlfriend from where he stands, a red solo cup full of some non alcoholic egg nog. His band mates at his side mid conversation, one had he dazed out of long ago. The moment his eyes found where his beautiful blonde girl was. Her smile painted on wide as she talked to her parents.
Absolutely perfect in every way, he has to suck in a breath.
He's absolutely making the right decision.
Ricky looks to his friend, a hand coming to rest on the taller man's shoulder, sending Chris out of his trance.
Chris nods, "More than you know."
His hand goes into his pants pocket, sighing a breath of relief when it's there. Despite it all, that's the most nerve wrecking part. Making sure it doesn't leave his pocket. He could get through the rest. This part he couldn't. It's a lot of why he asked for help from his closest friends and band mates.
The very ones Kelly adores more than anything.
The longer he stares at the five foot girl, he is more than ready. If he had it his way, he'd pull her to the middle of the floor and get down on one knee now. Profess his undying love in some weird way with multiple detailed stories long the way before popping the question, but patience is a virtue.
He has to remind himself that right now.
She moves across the room effortlessly in her red heels, identical to her red dress that she purchased just a few days before. She isn't big on getting new clothes for each lavish event but for her Christmas events, she makes an exception.
Especially when she spends most of the day before hand decorating and prepping the food. With little to no help, despite how much Chris wants to help. She's stuck in her ways and all he can do is just support her, help when she needs it or asks.
Although that's not the main reason why he had decided to do his plans today. That was entirely different. A sudden realization that hit him earlier this year. A chaotic year that it was, his music and touring being put on hold. He had been stuck with more than enough time to think things out.
It's the feelings he gets when he looks at her, the way she smiles up at him when she is laying her head in his lap. The way she tolerates his horror movie love even if it's something she isn't into. She took all of him with such a love that he had never once experienced before.
He adores that more anything. It's why he understands now why things didn't work out with anyone else. It's a lot why he had gotten soft despite his tough guy look.
She's such a sweet girl with such a sour side for him in so many ways in the bedroom and all the while, she took it with such an acceptance. A true need to learn all that she could about him.
His girlfriend, she's just perfect.
The sound of a cheer sends him out of his thoughts, his eyes finding their way to the center of the floor where she stands with a clear glass in her hand. No doubt full of some nice red wine she had made sure was nice at that. She had definitely bought enough bottles to make sure it tasted just right.
Her glass goes in the air, raising it with a smile and back down to her chest as she looks around the room. A smaller party than she is used too, but it's filled with everyone she adores more than anything in the world.
"I wanna say thank you all for being here."
She smiles, her hand going to her chest.
"It means a lot to celebrate this year with everyone so dear in my life."
Her eyes find her parents, arms wrapped around each other's hips. Dressed in their best clothing and she can't help but feel the nostalgia hit her as she looks at them, tears flooding her vision.
Her words stop as Chris's slides to stand beside her, his arm finding itself to wrap around her before she finds his big brown eyes. The very beauty of them finding hers as he presses a kiss to her temple.
Her words lost as he hands the red solo cup to the father of his soon to be.. well, that's if she agrees.
Sure he is used to the eyes on him, he has been for years but nothing quite beats this. Especially with a few people knowing what's coming.
His hands going to hers, his tattooed hands bigger than hers. The way they fit together when she links them together. The amount of feelings that find their way to his chest. He can't help but feel the way he does as she allows herself to meld into him. It makes him feel whole again. A feeling he never thought he'd ever have again.
Kelly smiles, her hand squeezing his. Her mouth repeating his words back to him. A frown coming to her face as he removes his hands from her before he turns to face the crowd. A nervousness there that wasn't there before.
He clears his throat, turning to find her again.
"She had bumped into me on the side of the road, probably my fault if i'm honest."
"It just, it clicked. Something clicked the moment i looked into her eyes. It was like i just knew. I knew that she was meant for something in my life. I wasn't sure of what yet, but she was meant to be there."
Chris brings her hand up to his mouth, pressing a kiss, "I never would have guessed it would have meant as my girlfriend, but i'm more than happy to have that. I have you now and i'm more than pleased to keep you where you are meant to be."
He smiles before kneeling down, the room going into gasps from the very ones that had no idea. His band mates in the back cheering him on as he looks up at her with an admiration he hasn't had in so long since Kelly.
He can't help but make that known.
He smiles, pulling the box out of his pocket.
How he managed to keep that there for this long, it's a mystery but nonetheless, he opens the box. The lights hitting it immediately to show its shine. Despite it all, he wanted the most flashy ring possible. Kelly, his sweet beautiful girlfriend deserves it.
Tears run down her cheeks, her green eyes twice as beautiful as she looks towards him versus the ring. He could propose with even just a ring pop and her feelings wouldn't have changed. It's probably even another reason he fell for her. She wasn't out to use him, a feeling that had been his fear for years.
The words get lost in her throat, but despite that. She nods, her hand coming down to rest into Chris's. A small whimper escaping her lips as she looks at him with pure happiness. The room full of people she loves cheering.
It's when he slides the ring on, she feels twice the happiness she did since the day began.
She is engaged to her best friend, her future, the very man she had hoped for since childhood even if some see him as villain. She is happy to be by his side.
