We have to choose joy and keep choosing it.
Henri J.M. Nouwen (via psych-facts)
Today I told them. I told them all. I didn't stand on a podium or in front of a camera, I wrote the words and they read them. And I will now tell you. I have depression. I have kept this secret in some way or another, without knowing I was keeping it, for almost half of my life. Silence has not helped me. Silence has not helped my family, friends or anyone in my life. Silence has crushed me. Weighed me down and left me trying not to cry too loudly in case someone may hear and feel uncomfortable. I have been fighting my depression and anxiety for years and while they ebb and flow in worseness and goodness I have not been able to shake thus monkey from my back, yet. I will continue to fight.
Jellyfish Rise, created by James Gardner using Modo and Photoshop.

"You are still young, free.. Do yourself a favor. Before it’s too late, without thinking too much about it first, pack a pillow and a blanket and see as much of the world as you can. You will not regret it. One day it will be too late."
Jhumpa Lahiri, The Namesake (via vacants)
