Writing Tip Number 6: Writers Block Solution 2
Something that happens to me occasionally is this: I'll be writing, and I know what I want to happen eventually in the story, but I don't know what I want to happen in the next chapter.
If that's something you relate to, it's OK. Why don't you open to a new page in your notebook, open a new Google Doc, Word Document, or whatever you write with, and start writing about what you want to happen later on? Believe it or not, this can help a lot with inspiring you for what you want to happen immediately after the last chapter you wrote!
What I do personally when I have writers block is this: I wrack my brain for a few hours about some tiny detail about the next chapter. One time the only thing I knew that I wanted to happen in the next chapter was a small piece of dialogue. So, I typed it out, and by the time I had that conversation finished I knew how I could work it into a complete chapter!
There's even some authors who write the ending of their story first. In other words, you don't have to go in order!
