Sound of a new dawn
The earth holds its breath in winters grasp
Trees stripped bare, thin scars against a grey sky
Empty fields swallow the echoes of a bitter wind.
Silence falls, heavy as the frost
A new sound pierces the the frozen tundras heart.
Natures alarm clock
Melodies of birdsong weave through a warming breeze.
The earth slowly awakens
Shaking off the frost.
Impatient shoots of green
push past the tired soil.
Daffodils emerge, tiny lanterns
Shining light on a forsaken landscape
Hope renews, blossoming in the garden of our soul.
