last night, you returned to me in a dream. i opened my diary this morning and found a page marked exactly one year ago:

a year has passed and still i am here, carrying the same ache unable to lay it down. something in my soul keeps reaching toward something in yours, a thread i cannot name.

maybe it was only ever real inside my mind, a world woven of shadows and hope. and yet… what choice do i have?

perhaps this longing is the shape i will carry with me, quiet and unspent, until the day i leave this earth.

In the end, she comes to terms with life’s bitter unfairness, and moves on through the light of forgiveness.
