A fun meme for y'all
iâm sorry what
Pog as slang comes from the twitch emote, taken from a video with pogs in them. What is a pog? A small cap from a juice drink that is traded and used in games by 90s kids. The juice drink was called POG, short for passion fruit orange guava. Passion fruit was named after its flower, the passion flower. Passion flowers were called "flower of the five wounds" in Portuguese, eventually being translated as passion fruit by the English in reference to the passion of Jesus, aka his last moments alive before being crucified.
I love history, language, words, communication, and humans.
I want to see more shit like this

WHO DO YOU THINK YOU ARE I AM
Iâm his crying wife
You have to understand the part thatâs so iconic about this is this isnât a clip of him winning the tournament this of a clip of him coming in fourth
Oh my fucking god no itâs not XD He won with that strike. That was like his fifth national championship win. Why would you lie about that. Why would anyone lie about that.
tumblr is like old friends senior dogs sanctuary for humans
This is a great response and I am going to use it!

bring back the habits that made you happy as a child. thereâs no reason you should ever have to give up harmless things that bring you joy. you donât have to age out of having fun. finger paint. write mediocre fanfiction and questionable poetry. put chocolate chips in your waffles. sing in the bath, and while working in the yard, and while washing your hands. hammer tunelessly on a piano. spin in circles until you fall down. climb a tree. just because youâre now in charge of your life doesnât mean youâre expected to give up on the things that make life feel worth living
If I could impart one thing to a young adult - it would be this. This is literally the secret to being okay your entire life.
This is a callout post for the TSA agent who was incredibly thoughtful and concerned about me flying across the country all alone without an adult and wanted to make sure I knew how to go through security and felt safe and comfortable and explained that, as per the signs, children under 12 can keep their shoes on, and directed me specifically to another agent to help me so I wouldnât be overwhelmed or afraid.
You were super sweet and kind, and the look on your face when I handed you my driverâs license and you realized I was 25 was priceless.

being an adult is just saying to yourself âthis is the weekend iâll clean my [x]â and then proceeding to not do that because itâs the weekend and you deserve to relax, goddamnit
Some said they didn't know their thermostats were being accessed from afar until it was almost 80 degrees inside their homes.
Without anyone touching it, they said their thermostat was changed while they were sleeping, making their home unbearably hot.
âWas my daughter at the point of overheating?â English said. âSheâs 3 months old. They dehydrate very quickly.â
His wife received an alert on her phone soon after that. The family said their thermostat had been changed remotely, raising the temperature of their home during a three-hour âenergy saving event.â
The familyâs smart thermostat was installed a few years ago as part of a new home security package. Many smart thermostats can be enrolled in a program called âSmart Savers Texas.â Itâs operated by a company called EnergyHub.
The agreement states that in exchange for an entry into sweepstakes, electric customers allow them to control their thermostats during periods of high energy demand. EnergyHubâs list of its clients include TXU Energy, CenterPoint and ERCOT.
Iâm reminded of a discussion I had in an engineering class about clean energy technology back in grad school.
They were saying âoh wouldnât it be cool to have a smart energy grid with surge pricing, to spread out the load on the gridâ
And Iâm like ânoâ
And theyâre like âWHATâ
And they didnât seem to get that poor people who absolutely canât afford surge pricing, and also would be in danger during a heat wave, exist
And deserve to live
Theyâre like âbut it would be GOOD for poor people because theyâd be able to lower their energy usage at peak hours and save money overallâ
But like
Thatâs not how being poor works?
Poor people donât have as much control over their schedules as non-poor people! They canât just cook their dinner two hours later because electricity is too expensive right now, they just worked a twelve hour shift and need to get to bed!
Poor people are more likely to be chronically ill and really not able to âtough it outâ during surge pricing times!
The whole âif we all make little sacrifices here and there, we can Help Save The Earthâąâ thing is making some big assumptions about what sacrifices are possible to make, and enforcing it with pricing doesnât actually help the environment, it just hurts the poor
I know this is a tangent and not what the above post is actually about but itâs a similar kind of thing
âspread out the loadâ does not work in a society where systemic inequality exists
Tangent or not, this is an extremely good point

Take the time to watch this, itâs MAGIC

Ooh some conductive thread magic
