Virginia Woolf, from a letter to Vanessa Bell written c. August 1937
“Not all toxic people are cruel and uncaring. Some of them love us dearly. Many of them have good intentions. Most are simply toxic to our being simply because their needs and way of existing force us to compromise ourselves and our happiness. They aren’t inherently bad people, but they aren’t the right people for us”
— Daniell Koepke (via purplebuddhaquotes)
i am too afraid to be with anyone after him.
sometimes i feel that no one in the world could understand the love we share
we love each other passionately,
madly,
violently.
love that makes your skin burn
it’s a love that makes you want to reach into your chest and rip your heart out
because at times you think it’s too heavy to hold anymore love for that person
your person
we all want to belong to one another
but what happens when you hold each other so tight you can’t breathe
and you try to morph into one being
what happens when making love doesn’t just feel like love but it feels like
even that’s not as close as you want to be
as if having him inside you isn’t enough
you always want more of each other
of course it becomes
exhausting,
terrifying,
traumatizing.
but you stay
you know how the poets say
love is destructive
it ruins you,
drives you to a point of insanity
and i know it’s true
but only for people who are not meant to be
because you can’t live with this kind of love
you have to find the right kind
but who can say what the right one looks like or feels like
i am just afraid I’ll find it one day
but will still be searching for you
for our love
the one that’ll kill me
“You are the knife I turn inside myself; that is love. That, my dear, is love.”
— Franz Kafka, Letters to Milena (via wordsnquotes)
