The blonde nonchalantly shrugged her shoulders. âNot my problem.â Jolene spoke; logically speaking, it really wasnât â- they wanted attention, then it was their problem to begin with. Her hands would be dusted off and sheâd sleep like a baby. Nodding her head, time and time again, playing with the straw in her mouth, Jolene listened as the redhead spoke. âYeah, maybe Iâll turn around and go after some good looking guy. Or I could turn around and fuck a girl instead. Iâm not picky.âÂ
âProbably a better choice. Girls know what girls want- thereâs no fucking guessing game.â Her eyes widen just slightly as she nods, tearing off some more of the label on her water bottle.
it wasnât everyday in devinstone that you saw a girl fast asleep on a bench. in fact, you rarely ever saw such a sight, but that was the least of hayleighâs worries at that point. squatting down next to the other, the blonde poked the girlâs cheek, âwake up.â
Brook squints her brows, own hand coming up to swat at hers. She really doesnât want to be bothered right now. âNo, five more minutes.â She says with a groan.
Nat came to a stop a few minutes ago when she spotted the girl sleeping soundly on a bench. Her eyebrows furrowed and arms crossed across her chest while she waited for her to, at least, move. She wasnât sure if she was dead, though if that was the case, sheâd end up having to deal with a lot of paperwork. Finally crossing the distance, her hand fell on the girlâs shoulder to shake her. âHey! You might wanna wake up, vultures are gathering around you in hopes you donât move.â
The hand scared her and she startles, but wakes up eventually and blinks a few times. Eventually she gives up from blinking the sleep away from her eyes and keeps them closed, rubs at them as she sits up. Slowly. âThose are uh... the birds right?â
âI donât care what they want.â Jolene began; the last thing she wanted to do was give someone attention just because they thought themselves entitled to such. âThen they can go dance around naked in the mall. Thatâll give them attention.â The girl added, shrugging her shoulders nonchalantly and taking another sip of her drink, keeping her eyes on the redhead still. A scoff escaped her as she put her half full cup down. âYou and me, both. Sometimes I wish I wasnât attracted also to them.â
âThatâll get them arrested.â Brook snickers, eyes on the bottle in her hands. Little pieces of the label started to pile up. âYou say that but the next thing you know youâre going after one. I go through this process all the time. And I never seem to learn that all of them are the same. And the ones that arenât are either already taken or gay, so.â
Heâd been standing by the side of the bus stop bench for a little more then a minute now, a cup of coffee held against his chest, as he waited for the girl to come to her senses, but she was pretty much dead to the world at this point. Finally, he lifted a hand and reached out to poke at her cheek. âHey,â he called out. âYou dead or something?â
Brook swats at his hand, and she wakes, startled. The girl shoots up.  She takes in a deep breath and lets it out slow, and eventually looks at who it was that touched her. âIf not this headache might just do it for me.â She says, hand coming up to rub at her face.
People sleeping on benches, a sight Caleb assumed only happened in the city but apparently he had been proved wrong. He had jogged past the woman at least five times and she hadnât moved, so coming to the end of his run he stopped beside her and caught his breath. âHeyââ He said quietly, eventually reaching out poke her shoulder gently. âYou alive?â
All it takes is one person like Brook in the suburbs and youâll see a lot of stuff you assumed only happened in the city. The tap seemed to wake her up though, as her eye brows raise and she takes in a deep breath, finally her eyes open and sheâs staring at the man, blinking away the sleep and adjusting her eyes to the sunlight. âWh-â She begins, eventually rubbing at her eyes. âYeah- what? No yeah, Iâm alive. I think. Am I bothering you?â
Madeline let out a groan as her fears were answered and she tried to turn her head in an effort to check the damage though she could only catch a brief glimpse of the red paint. âThe red doesnât really work with this dress,â she sighed, shaking her head. âCouldâve worked, didnât work, but thank you anyway.â
âYou never know until you try it.â A lot of her clothes have came from being fucked up. Accidentally cut something wrong, accidentally had the wrong shade of paint- it doesnât matter she just worked with it. âYou donât do much of customizing you own clothes, do you?â
The girl had quite a night, bits and pieces were missing from it. She looks quite comfortable on that bench, unfortunately sheâs taking up the entire thing. Itâs bright and early, maybe she should get up for work anyways. However sheâs fast asleep, and the sounds of cars and people and birds in general just wasnât waking her up.
Maybe he should have paid more attention to his surroundings but the cat video currently playing on his phone had captured his attention entirely. At least until he found himself walking straight into a lamp post, stumbling back as his hand flew up to keep his glasses from falling off his face. Perfect, exactly what he needed. Looking around, he realized he wasnât alone on the sidewalk, far from it, and he cringed as he half-waved at them. âItâs fine, Iâm okay, I meant to do that.â
âYeah, CLEARLY you did, big guy.â Brook laughs. Its a warmhearted laugh, not meant to offend him but it may have come off that way. She canât help but to smile at him, however. âWow, whateverâs on that phone really has you distracted. Is it a pretty lady?â
âWeâre going out tonight, right? You better say yes-â Of course sheâs joking, although her tone suggests otherwise, but she might tease the girl a little had she declined. âCause I aint about to stay at home tonight.â // @thecassiemorgan
âNo, mom, I canât bring her around until next weekend,â Madeline sighed into the phone as she sat down on a bench, completely missing the âwet paintâ sign and only realizing her mistake when she heard a snicker from a group of kids. âIâll call you back,â she muttered, quickly ending the call before getting up, her eyes widening at the sight of the sign. âHey!â She called out to a person walking past, turning around so her back was facing them. âIs there paint on my dress? Please tell me no, I only just got this yesterday.â
âUh...â Brook has half a mind to say no, there isnât when clearly the bright red paint is, IN FACT, there. She squints her eyes a moment as she studies the dress. âYeah. There is. But like, itâs good, itâs cool. Just get some red fabric paint or some shit and splatter it when you get home. Bam, instant newer dress.â
Jolene couldnât help but let out a small chuckle when she heard the teenage boy trying to act all smooth and failing â- and he even sounded a little bit sexist, so that was the cherry on top. âLook, tween,â the blonde began; she really had no qualms with being a bit of a bitch to a pre-pubescent meninist in the making, âwhy donât you go back to your bros and tell them how I turned you down good? Iâm not in the mood.â Jolie ended her reply with a sharpness in her tongue that could cut diamond. As the boy left, a scoff escaped her, talking to and looking at whoever was near enough to hear her. âDo I have âplease bother meâ written across my forehead in bold letters, is that it?â The mechanic spoke, putting the straw of her drink back in her mouth and taking a sip of her smoothie.
âSometimes boys just want attention.â The redhead shrugs, brows raising slightly in unison. âAnd sometimes theyâll do whatever it takes to get it. Either that or he thinks that by acting like a douche heâll get in your pants.â Brook tears at the label of her water bottle. âSometimes I hate boys.â
âOkay I know this may be crazy or even stupid but I was wondering if you could help me with something?â The man questioned the other, the Irish accent still obvious in his voice even after all the time away from his home country. âI found this dark looking abandoned house â that Iâm pretty sure is haunted, by the way. I need to take pictures of it and I think it would look thousand percent better with you in it.â
The question doesnât catch her off guard. Itâs actually welcome, and the thought of having her picture taken floods her thoughts almost instantly. Was it her striking red hair? Cute face? How unbelievably short she is? Whatever the case, sheâs up for it. He had her at haunted house, however. âHmm, okay, but donât try nothinâ funny. What kind of pictures are we talkinâ about?â
