“you should tell ‘em that, maybe they’ll listen to you. no, it’s just a saying. well you’re dad’s not here and his friends for sure aren’t getting in here so, i think you’re safe to fall asleep in here. plus, if you don’t sleep you’re just gonna end up back in here and i doubt you really want that. you should make ‘em tell you. you deserve to know if your real name is tucker or corey. dunno, most of them annoy me.”

“welcome to the medical wing, where they never have anything good on ever. it’s just another way to say my neighborhood, sort of. why didn’t you want to sleep? no, probably not. so don’t tell ‘em i looked i’ll probably get in trouble. but if they said it’s your name, they probably didn’t give you the wrong one. did you ask ‘em about it? yeah but your dad also wasn’t the best, we’ve been through this. that’s what you think, bub. ‘cause you’re one of the few people i actually like in here.”

“the chaos theory? i dunno if it’s real, but i do know that i’m going to kill you. you’re on my turf and don’t even tell me? not to mention you disappeared and no one would tell me where you were so here i come to find you asleep and still no one would tell me why you were in here so i had to do some snooping and i think they have the wrong medical chart because it says your name is tucker so you should probably tell them to fix that. but anyway are you okay? i’m going to kill you if you scare me like that again. i thought you left forever or something, i almost lost my mind.”

“why? d-do other teenagers lie o-or somethin’? they m-might. i saw on 60 m-minutes how someone was attacked b-by a dog. i d-dunno, i think it might h-hurt a bit. ‘cause th-they have sharp teeth. 'k-kay, i trust you.“ 

“yeah, all the time. it’s kinda what teenagers are known for. i feel like 60 minutes always exaggerates things. plus, you met ‘em. you think they seem mean enough to attack you? good.”

“therapist talk doesn’t suit you. anyway, i’m not keeping a journal. i’m sure if i did keep a journal you guys would say you have to read them or something. you’re all too nosy for your own good.”

“you don’t think? you might be the only teenager alive who doesn’t lie. i don’t think they’re gonna bite you. kat wouldn’t get dogs that bit people. and even if they did i’m it’d just be a little nibble and you’d barely feel it. because i know, you just gotta trust me.”

“i won’t, but then you can’t lie to me ever either. scary? even though all they want to do is cuddle and play? i guess, but i don’t think you’re gonna step on one and even if you do it’s an accident. i think the pup will forgive you.”
