"my lord with all your heirs are you not worried of a succession crisis." Said the advisor "trust I have asked them many times and all but two deny the throne." Said the king "my oldest thinks it's his obligation to take it and my youngest thinks it allows her to eat ice cream for dinner."
Santos: From now on we will be using codenames. You can address me as "Eagle One"
Garcia, codename: Been there done that
Al-Hashimi is: Currently doing that
Javadi is: It happened once in a dream
Whitaker, codename: If I had to pick a dude
Dana is: ...Eagle Two
Dana: Oh thank god.
I spend an unhealthy amount of time thinking about Juliet Burke and Kate Austen.
Finally started watching Heated Rivarly, this is pretty good
Them tbh
This might be a hot take but I think that everything or almost everything the characters did on Lost was completely reasonable considering during their first week there, multiple people died, some people got attacked by a polar bear (while they were on a very tropical island), there was some sort of creature in the jungle that sounded like a nightmare fuel dinosaur and multiple expeditions resulted in more than one of the people in leadership positions to act incredibly cagey and get a haunted look in their eye anytime someone asked questions.
Also if you try to say that they should have moved on from that, let's be reasonable. Even the most terrifying/put together people on that island (Locke and Sayid for example) ended up being beaten up/attacked, or staring in the distance in what could be described as abject terror after an adventure gone wrong.
Also if you really want to get into it, Jack didn't want to be the leader in the beginning. He hated the idea. Having to be mostly responsible for a huge group of people on an island where serious injuries could only be treated with airplane alcohol and sea urchin spines, he had the right to crash out a few times.
Sawyer's actions in the beginning were a result of his traumatic childhood, rocky adulthood and the fact that in his experience, most of the time you couldn't be nice and still survive. But his character development was top tier. He grew into such a better person.
Kate was running from the US Marshall's because she blew up an abusers house whole he was still in it. She was doing something that she thought would save her mother. And her trust issues are not unfounded considering even the sweet old farmer who gave her food and a roof over her head ended up betraying her for money. She has helped people at every turn (delivering Claire's baby, protecting Claire from Rousseau, volunteering to help Sayid multiple times, trying to find the Blackbox way back in the beginning, being one of the only people to give Sawyer a chance and also being the one to convince Jack to help him with his headaches, having a part in taking down Ethan, etc). Sure, she might be selfish, and it was annoying that she couldn't choose between Jack and Sawyer for like, the majority of the show, but come on, give a girl a rest.
And Juliet. Stop hating on Juliet please. She went to the island voluntarily, and then was basically just never allowed to leave. She had to leave her sister behind, with only the image of her pushing a child on a swing that Ben showed her to prove that she hadn't died from cancer. She was also basically stalked by Ben, who was obsessed with her, forced to play out a role in saving said man, and ultimately ending up dying horrifically in the arms of the man she loved who she thought was still in love with another woman.
There are so many more characters that I could try to defend, but my point is, they were traumatized, forced to survive on an unknown, 100% supernaturally influenced island, and deal with internal conflicts at the same time as external attacks and dealing with the reality that they were probably going to die there without ever seeing actual civilization again.
Also feel free to tell me if I got anything wrong. I am rewatching and I am only on season 1. The chance of there being some sort of inaccuracy with the later seasons is very high.
dennis and trinity enter a marriage of convenience for the legal benefits bc being each other’s emergency contact isn’t enough sometimes and also for the tax benefits
they keep their last names and don’t tell anybody about it and at some point they forget that they’re even married
they realize the downside of this plan bc both of them are falling for their much older attendings (robby and baran) and don’t feel like they can pursue them in good conscience while legally married
dennis and trinity have spent long nights lamenting about robby and baran respectively and know that they’re too down bad for it to just be a crush
one day trinity walks up to dennis with a large folder and, in a not so subtle manner, abruptly says “hey huck, i think we should get divorced. I already found a lawyer and here’s some paperwork. we can fill it out in the break room”
everyone stops what they’re doing immediately.
no one had any idea that santos and whitaker were married, let alone that their marriage was apparently falling apart to the point where she would publicly declare divorce.
they all stop and watch whitaker to see how he’ll react, expecting him to act shocked or hurt.
instead he just looks up from his computer and says, “yeah one sec. let me finish up this chart and i’ll meet you in there”
santos nods and ruffles his hair before heading toward the break room. she doesn’t notice the way everyone is staring at them.
I don't think I could ever accurately portray my genuine heartbreak that I wasn't on the set of Lost while they were making it. The cast seemed so fun, the storyline and all the different plot points seem so exciting to act out, and I just will forever be jealous of everyone who got to be a part of the making of that show.
And actually, while I am on the topic, I hope I am not the only one who would have wanted to live on that island. Like, obviously there was a lot of terrifying stuff going on, but being able to hang out with everyone in the caves or on the beach and go on stupid expeditions where someone is always in danger of dying or being killed, and you get sand everywhere but it doesn’t matter because you crashed on this island and if you get sand in your hair literally no one cares.
Plus, I just feel like having that freedom of society seems like such a relief. The best example would probably be Kate, who ended up being able to live freely on the island in a way she never would have been able to if that plane had made if to Los Angeles. Even if she escaped from the Marshall, she would still be running for the rest of her life. On the island she didn't have to worry about that.
I also for some reason will always be curious about how they adjusted to living their regular everyday lives again. But in a more in depth way than the Oceanic Six portrayed. Like, what is it like to go from a tarp over sand to a comfy mattress? Would they need white noise to sleep because they got so used to it? Would they mourn the feel of a fire every night or would the smell of smoke trigger some sort of anxiety attack that they were back? Would they miss the island? Would they be really close friends with the other survivors because of the trauma bond or would they never want to see their faces again because it reminded them of everything they had to go through.
Like I just love Lost so so so much and I envy literally everything about it.
Could somebody tell me why the whole island could've kissed each other and it could've made sense? I mean what the heck was in the air in 2004? Love potions?
The chemistry pairings that could've happened between the losties will forever be a missed opportunity in my opinion.
I am so happy that Kate and Claire are about to watch Aaron graduate college together.
