Since I was still in Tallahassee, one of my lunch stops was Genghis Grill. It’s just off apalachee parkway and a place I have only been to once or twice before. But I never forgot it because it’s just so awesome and vegetarian friendly! I went just in time for the lunch special so I only paid $10 for this big bowl of deliciousness. Ingredients: spicy sriracha tofu, regular tofu, sprouts, udon noodles, steamed rice, scallions, onions, peppers, potatoes, mushrooms(my fav), carrots, and egg. I also used cayenne pepper for spice and of course some garlic and salt. For sauce I used their special house one and topped it with some sesame seeds. I got pretty full towards the end but I finished my bowl and left feeling very satisfied. The only issue I had was that I thought my rice wasn’t in there because it was at the bottom. But flavor wise, everything was fantastic. I highly recommend this spot. Overall: 10/10
Today’s breakfast was from ihop once again, this time in a different city. I ordered the strawberry banana French toast and was asked if I wanted to make it a combo (of course I said yes). So I received hash browns and extra eggs in place of the meat I would have gotten. Everything was satisfactory, however the strawberry glaze tasted a bit too artificial for my taste. I definitely would have preferred natural strawberries but nonetheless I cleaned my plate. Except for my eggs. I was in a hurry so i was unable to finish those but I saved them for later! Anywho, my waitress was really sweet and even though the food took a while I enjoyed my visit. Overall: 7/10
Jason’s Deli was pretty good yesterday. I ordered the chicken pasta primo (minus the chicken) and a French onion soup bowl. The pasta is comprised of penne, tomato basil sauce, and topped with Asiago. The first time they brought it out they forgot to make it without chicken so I had them remake it. The only changes I would have liked to have is that the sauce could be more seasoned. The noodles themselves were also slightly al debate but not too hard. Also, if you’re ordering pasta dishes and you don’t want meat; make sure to remind them to reduce the price! The cashier was going to charge me about a dollar more if I hadn’t said something. Oh and the French onion was good as always. It’s one of the few times I can enjoy the soup since it’s usually prepared with beef broth in other stores. Overall: 8.5/10
Tonight I went to IHOP with some friends and immediately wanted to try their red velvet pancakes. Usually when I go to IHOP my experience isn’t too good, but it was close by so I went anyway. Now, I eat a lot, so I knew I needed more than just pancakes and ended up doing a 3&3 combo. It included 3 pancakes and 3 eggs (I was charged extra for the pancakes since they weren’t buttermilk) & I added a side of potatoes. My eggs definitely needed seasoning, which is common when I go to restaurants since I’m used to adding my own at home. The potatoes were pretty good, they were red and I added ketchup as I often do. And finally the pancakes…they were mediocre. They weren’t awful BUT they weren’t what I had gotten my hopes up about. The whipped cream and glaze definitely saved them because otherwise I would have just asked to switch them out. Oh well. 5.5/10
