I know it's not related to CYZJ, but I decided to start watching the new season of Youth With You and I have nowhere to talk about it so I came to my Chinese music show blog to say this: Drcchen got r-o-b-b-e-d on his first ranking! HolyfuckballsHOW?! He did that with such a cloyingly sweet song when the other team went straight cutesy with it, and somehow it didn't have enough feeling? He looked like he had tears in his eyes when he finished! Liang Sen said he almost cried watching it?! When the rest of the trainees were, for lack of a better word, shook? They gave him a non-rank?! My panties are in a bunch, and I am displeased. (Also, kudos to him for calling out the reporters at the press conference for the lack of questions for the other trainees. That takes gumption, dude.)

I was totally happy to just sit here, casually watching and enjoying it by myself, but after that I'm definitely feeling the need to process this show for real just like I did with CYZJ.

If I were to go fully down that rabbit hole, would anyone be interested in seeing that here, or should I start a different blog for that and leave this purely CYZJ and CYZJ adjacent?

Firstly, thank you! I’m glad people actually got a kick out of my rambling nonsense. And to answer your question, I do not! Fun fact - or maybe ridiculous fact considering I have a blog dedicated to the show - I still haven’t watched episode 10. ...Yup. 🤷‍♀️ [tl;dr ⬇️ - I do want to make one]

Someone on here spoiled the winners for me immediately after it aired, and that ruined a lot of the anticipation and fun of watching for me. (I’m still sour about that.) Plus, by the time the subs were up, the holiday season was rolling around here, and I just didn’t have the time to dedicate to it. [It takes me on average twice the run length of the episode to do a reaction because I pause it to hand write my thoughts and watch the performances a couple times. For the monster of an episode that 10 is, that means at least seven hours! I know I can break it up, but still, that’s a lot!] This year’s had a lot of stressful life stuff going on that I just haven’t been in a place mentally to sit down and do it. Oh, and I moved at the end of June and didn’t have internet until a couple weeks ago. Makes it hard to watch if you don’t have access!

Obviously, I still want to watch it! My intention is still to do a reaction to it, but I need to get my computer set up so I can use one of the alternate methods to watch now that it’s been blocked from CYZJ Subs’ youtube for copyright. At this point, I’ll probably end up rewatching the whole damn thing to refresh. At least it’ll give me a chance to do the reactions for the first few episodes, too! I’m not making any promises on time frame because rewatching and reacting to the earlier episodes makes the process that much longer, though.

hi this question is sort of random, but do you know if cyzj is popular/well known in china? because i love the show and i want to ask one of the chinese foreign exchange students in my class if he’s watched it, but i don’t know if that’s rude. (the reason i want to ask him about it is because he really loves music, not just because he’s chinese, but if it’s not that popular in china i won’t bring it up) thank you!

The short answer is that I don’t know 😅 I’m from the middle of the US and I don’t speak Chinese, so I’m not really sure!

I have seen some people say it’s not very popular there, but I’m really sure if it was based on actual ratings or if they’re Chinese or what. But that’s okay! If he likes music, he may still know some of the contestants, so you guys could still have something to talk about even if he hasn’t seen it. If you don’t want to ask him about the show because it’s not well-known, maybe ask him about one of the cast that you want to know more about instead. Like “you like music right? I was watching this music show called CYZJ and I really like so-and-so. Do you know his music?” Unless you start yelling at him for not knowing the show or the people on it, I wouldn’t say it’s rude. Even if he doesn’t know about it, maybe he can tell you about some other music you might like!
