"Whether he's terrorizing the streets of Hell or just another city far away from here, it doesn't change the fact. He's not coming back."
Though they both know which place he likely ended up at Mori smiles at him like he knows something Chuuya doesn't. Which he probably does. It's in his business to know. It's in Chuuya's to fly straight when he's told to pull the trigger. Bullets don’t ask questions, so Chuuya won’t pry.
"Perhaps. Still, I think l'll consider the position in reserve for now. "
Mori's never been one to nurse sentiments. Certainly not ones warm enough to keep doors unlocked. Like he hopes the warmth of empty seats won't cool off. Mori knows this place is not one to come home to. But, when it came to Dazai, Mori always had seemed more family physician than army doctor than a man of his station really ought to. Bullets don’t have feelings either, so Chuuya won’t argue.
"Whatever, I doesn't matter to me. Boss," he nods as he heads for the door.
If Mori suspects there's even a chance There's no chance. The odds had never been Chuuya's thing, that had always his area of expertise. But, if Chuuya thought about it, it wasn't so unusual. The Sheep had chosen their side, the Flags never really got the chance to. There's no use dwelling on it now. He looks down at the file in his hand and sighs. This was just another name on Chuuya's long list of one-sided goodbyes.
just watched the jjk hidden inventory movie and i have some thoughts- (spoiler warning obviously)
i miss how angry dub Utahime sounds
she really is bbg tho
Shoko!!
sad again that the animation splits up Geto and Gojo more often, it works better from a pacing standpoint but we are missing out on the iconic duo poses T^T
i will never be a toji apologist (hes a good character i just hate him)
wow, they made the curse Kuroi is riding on so much bigger lol
they did a really good job of making toji uncomfortable/gross
which ig goes along with his 'i decided to stop respecting others and myself,' hypothetically to keep himself from acting on pride and getting killed-fat load of good that did him
or like the human weakness of caring about others which would make killing harder
this is really turning into a toji post ain't it?
the way Gojo and Geto just stand in the background while Riko is doing her thing in the aquarium is so funny
the score is so fucking good
the way everything goes to B&W when toji kills b/c he did it without cursed energy is so cool
how old is toji? he always read as a 30 something to me, maybe closer to 40? but ig given the timeline he's probably in his (late) 20s. o_0
the inventory curse was probably a baby who died choking to death on a toy or something similar (mommy, they way it eats things that aren't food, its face-)
animation may capture how toji fights like a wild animal better but dang nothing captures his sheer aura better than the manga
i did not realize that Gojo was dead dead for a while there
Geto's an asshole and extremely powerful, he's just overshadowed b/c Gojo's a bigger asshole and more powerful (though i would argue that before gojo 'awakens' geto is actually more powerful did you see the moves he was pulling in the star corridor-)
KUCHISAKE-ONNA SHOULD HAVE GIVEN toji A BOWL CUT!!!
the death of the rainbow dragon always makes me lowkey sad ngl, i loved that funky reptile
when Geto says monkeys he saying it to toji at least 40% of the time
Gojo is gods favorite solider, this won't do him any favors
Megumi!!
Megumi looks so downcast in tojis' memories (poor bb)
toji , Megumi
in @nosferatuix 's The Pink Lighter Gojo can see the peoples' cursed energy as their signature colors and it always threw me off that Geto was blue (like ik it was b/c he was Gojo's blue spring, i always just thought of him as gold) but then the scene with Geto standing in the Time Vessel Association building surrounded by clapping came on and the blue ground before his feet goes black and, oh no, i get it now ;-;
Yuki's comment about wanting to study toji, girl me too
they are my crack ship fr ( @nosferatuix 's The Pink Lighter)
having the cult members and the people on the street have more realistic faces unintendedly makes them look super uncomfortable, almost like monke-
Geto walking away from Gojo was absolutely a suicide attempt, like 'please let me be part of one last meaningful thing' b/c he knows that killing all non sorcerers is impossible-
-was that Shui Kong!?-
Megumi cares so much about his sister from the get go lol
Gojo was crying after that nap fr
toji is a unfortunate parallel to Geto. Born into a family unlike them, who could never hope to understand them, the most powerful of a generation still refines their unique destructive potential throughout their youth. After becoming disillusioned to a system that demonstrates little regard for them again and again, they defect to play an antagonist role born out of resentment. They target the next generations' greatest, which ultimately leads to their downfall. Geto poses a threat to jj-society the likes of which was only previously matched by toji. They both get killed bY GOJO! THEY BOTH COME BACK WRONG-
an unexpected parallel to Gojo was Tengen. If Tengen is passive defense for jj-society, Gojo is active defense. Like the whole thing of 'Evolution' w/ Tengen is basically what has been happening to Gojo until he dies at the end of jjk. He ascends to godhood, has to give up his will, unable to connect with people as he drifts higher and higher into his power and further and further away from others, no longer Satoru but 'The Strongest,' all while being used a tool for jj-society. Are you kidding me?! For Tengen this is a potential doomsday event but as long as its Gojo it's just Tuesday. it doesn't matter, it was always just business anyway. (i'm legitimately pissed on his behalf, lol)
i've had this thought before but i wonder if Yaga put in the trial/interview on why you want to become a sorcerer b/c Geto defected. So he could try and sus out those who might go down similar paths. If you think about it Gojo does sorcery b/c he can conceive of nothing else, Yuji does it so he doesn't have regrets, Nanami b/c it is the better of two bad options, Mei Mei does it for money, Nobara for a place to live, Megumi for his sister, Maki out of spite, Yuta so he can be around peers without putting them in danger, like you have to be neutral to selfish about it. You can't be waltzing in with these lofty ideals about the way the world should work, or good and bad, or duty and responsibility like Geto did, b/c that's liable to break under the pressure and be twisted into something else.
i wonder if Geto was more selfish from the get go, if he would have been able to stay at jj-tech with everyone
Eldritch Sorcerers: Megumi & Yuji
2nd installment in this series
Megumi
He’s almost completely silent when he moves. Not a breath. Not a footfall. The only sound that accompanies him is faint rustling, like leaves brushing against each other in the breeze.
Light doesn’t affect him properly. Even when it’s sunny all the shadows on his body are just a bit too harsh, drawing unforgiving lines across his features, dedicated to keep his form protectively obscured.
Inexplicability things tend to dull as they try to reach Megumi, creating a grey haze around him, as if he was caught in a particularly overcast day and forgot to let the sun back in.
Megumi would never be under the impression he has a smooth voice. Even so, when he speaks, he’s still surprised by the way it groans and falters from lack of use. But it’s deeper than just being out of practice. It sounds distant. Submerged. Like someone’s last wish garbling up from the bottom of a forgotten well.Â
Megumi’s shadows are strangely… sticky. Seeming reluctant to catch back up to their caster. Not only that but they're deep. Too deep. Rippling like the surface of the sea. And they bite, which is strange because one wouldn’t expect the silhouette of man to have a two squabbling sets of fangs and tails and ears. And it might just be because of the dappled light but you’re reasonably sure that’s not how shadows are supposed to work at all actually.
He has his father’s eyes, a stern black so cold they are almost blue. But under the shadow of his hair, they flash with vicious emerald. When he walks down the halls at night, the faint moonlight filtering through the windows is enough illumination to make them reflect, like a wild animal caught on film, an unmistakable fluorescent green.
He smells like the woods after rainfall, but not in a clean way. There’s a dankness to it.
Yuji
Yuji’s footfalls have an echo, a distinct second thud at his heels. When he runs, it sounds like he’s being chased.
His reflection…misbehaves, is probably the best way to put it. Regardless of which ways he’s facing or onto what surface he’s reflected, its always looking straight out, trying to stare down something unseen.
Looking at him out of the corner of your eye, your brain seems to be unable to properly overlay the two images it receives. They don’t look the same, one of them is wrong somehow. For a second you’re not even sure if you’re looking at the same person.
Yuji’s voice will distort randomly, pitching down into a growl with just a touch too much edge to pass as being groggly with sleep. And by no means is Yuji a quiet kid, but even if he’s trying to use his inside voice, it’s still louder and goes further than he ever intends.
He casts 2 shadows. One, a normal silhouette of a boy, but then, another pale grey apparition, offset from the original. The shadow of a shadow. That shadow carries itself in a distinctly different way, flickering with aggressive, antagonizing movements, even as Yuji’s standing still.
Yujis’ eyes tend to drift in conversation. He’s not trying to be disrespectful, but it seems like he’s distracted by something ever so slightly off to the side. His eyes follow the movements, flashing over with the faint reflection of a red horizon. It looks unnecessarily harsh against the soft amber of his irises.
Yuji had noticed that his teeth had gotten sharper within the first week of becoming a jujutsu sorcerer. But he hadn’t noticed that his nails also had until he cut the inside of his lip while flossing weeks later. He decided not to mention it. To his credit nobody else has either, but that doesn’t mean they haven’t noticed.
Yuji can see Sukuna’s tattoos. They rise to kiss against the underside of his skin, never quite reaching the surface, only to fade back into the abyss of his flesh. Pulsing along with his heartbeat. They itch, even when they aren’t visible. More than once, he’s been caught absentmindedly scratching troughs into his arms trying to dig them out.
Eldritch Sorcerers: Yuta Okkotsu
1st installment in this series
Despite his heavy eye bags, Yuta Okkotsu, blessedly, looks normal. He really does…mostly at least.
One would think that with how much Yuta makes a point of keeping a positive demeanor he would be able to smile more convincingly. But no matter how wide or how frequently he smiles, his slate grey eyes stay fixed. Flat, dull, and heavy, like a tombstone.
Yuta was always a pale guy. Somehow sickly pale during summer, somewhere past sickly every other time of the year. After living in Africa, he’s not pale anymore…exactly. But he didn’t tan, not in the way one would expect long hours under the sun to warm the body into a lived-in bronze. His skin did get darker, but it’s a touch too cool and desaturated to look flattering. It’s also strangely blotchy, as if any color his body was able to produce got stuck before it could reach the surface of his skin.Â
You know the kind of people who can stretch and seem to be able to pop every bone in their body doing so? Yuta’s like that. Causing a disconcerting cacophony of pops and creaks and whines as seemingly more bones than you remember a skeleton having scrape past each other. The muffled sound of his body protesting against the mildest of movements. Cries he lets go unanswered.
But the scary part of Yuta, the really scary part, is not his body. Not really. It’s everything else.
Even on still water his reflection gets rhythmically distorted. Ripples chase themselves away from his face, as if a great beast were panting down his neck.
Where he walks the floorboards complain. Rumbling as they bow under a weight a boy like him is simply too scrawny to be carrying. He leaves the floor all scuffed. Littering it with long scratches that look a lot like claw marks, but they’re too big to be from any animal you’ve heard of.
When he goes down a street, all the windows start to tremble with the effort of trying to absorb an unseeable reflection. It’s not uncommon for them to crack as he passes, sometime outright shattering into a hail of fragments. He doesn’t break his stride as the glass crunches under his foot.
And Yuta’s a weird guy, so it’s to be expected that he talks to his shadow. What’s more unexpected is that the shadow talks back. With a growl or a hiss that doesn’t help explain the faint red outlines in his silhouette that snap to attention tracking something, then blink out of existence. Hopefully the way they look like eyes is just a trick of the light. But no trick of the light could explain away seeing a little girl’s shadow run up to grab hands with his. When he walks away, he's swinging their intertwined hands playfully.
Being near Yuta is scary, and it not because he makes one's hair stand on end or sends shivers down thier spine with such force and frequency someone may very well be dancing on thier grave. You wish that was it. You wish that was all it was.
People tend to walk away bloodied from Yuta. He never seems to touch them but he doesn't need to. Something about standing in front of him just puts people on edge. Enough to chew holes into the side of their cheeks or clench their fists until they’ve carved red crescents into their palms. Getting nosebleeds in his presence is not uncommon. Or bleeding from the ears and eyes, but that’s slightly less common. Rarely do people leave unscathed. If they do its only to be later alerted by the sting of soap to a dusting of shallow papercuts across their knuckles. Evidence of a fight they’ve never even been in.
Megumi H/Cs (but i give him my childhood, woops~)
Most, if not all of his non-fiction books are field guides of some kind
-> he can identify basically any of Japan's native wildlife
-> -> *Someone, probably Itadori, incorrectly identifying a songbird* Megumi, not looking up from his coffee, "It's a wren, not a sparrow, you can tell by the tail."
". . . how do you know that?"
"Its common knowledge." (its not)
-> ->*Itadori, asking about an animal he saw*"Why do you you keep asking me? I'm not your personal Google."
"But do you know?"
"Yeah, its a ..." (etc, etc)
-> ->*Someone, again, probably Itadori, pointing out a cat on their walk* Fushiguro, exasperated, "Do I have to explain what a cat is to you now?"
He's almost as obnoxious about plants/flowers but that came out of a combination of his emo middle school phase and Tsumiki's love for gardens
-> yes, he knows what all of them mean (Hanakotaba)
His favorite (non-fiction) movie is Our Planet. He owns both 1 & 2 on disc.
-> he listens to them to help fall asleep on bad days.
His favorite (fiction) movies are Mamma Mia(+ here we go again) and The Parent Trap(s, yes both of them)
if i really wanna push emersion His favorite show was Wild Kratts
-> he got a shitty abridged disc of seasons 2-3 from a bargain mart while shopping with Tsumiki when he was little
->and then Gojo introduced him to vpns so he could watch the rest off his phone
-> -> the shitty disc version is still one of his prized possessions. It sits right next to the other nature documentaries he's accumulated over the years (Gojo likes to buy him weird ones he finds while traveling).

Eldritch Sorcerers
This is going to be a series of hcs about the special grade sorcerers in jjk. While these writings are original a big shout out goes to @getougender and the corresponding tags choir for giving me a ton of inspiration/motivation to finish this. Please go check out them and their tag uncanny sorcerers, its super fun!
Despite sorcerers having a better grip on cursed energy than the average person, containing that energy does physically affect them. In most cases it manifests mundanely. Maybe as body aches or a continuous sinking feeling in the gut, akin to when an elevator first lurches to life. It’s primarily internal— from the outside looking in they are just like everybody else.
However, that’s not the case for special grades. They have such a repository of cursed energy that the body cannot contain it, and it leaks out a little. Fraying at the edges, flickering under the skin, lingering in the back of the eyes for a moment only to be blinked away the next. Functionally, they do still look human, assuming one doesn’t look too hard. But. If one looks. Really looks. There is something there, and once it is noticed it can’t be unnoticed.
In a room full of people, they are incomprehensible power wearing human skin. In a room full of people, they are completely, and utterly, alone.
~Anybody with the capacity to detect curses (even if they can’t see them) can detect the manifestations of this power overflow. However, the difference in power between the two dictates how pronounced the effects are. The larger the gap, the more intensive the experience. Conversely, people closer to the same level would never notice unless it’s pointed out to them. Those who can’t detect curses can still tell something is off, but they have no idea why their body just activated fight or flight, it’s purely instinctual. ~

~Kinda a continuation of this post~
Maki (and Mai):
They share the same base, a fresh evergreen scent that was pervasive around the Zenin clan mountains. Maki is more chypre; a commanding, energized scent that leans decidedly unisex. Mai is more floral and feminine, with sultry undertones and a softer finish.
Maki's Notes: violet, juniper, vetiver
Mai's Notes: jasmine, lavender, sage, patchouli
Shared notes: cedar, cypress, white musk, nutmeg, bamboo, mountain iris
Inumaki:
Very, very strong/distinct scent, almost unappealing. Citrus forward in an artificial soda pop flavoring kind of way. Underneath, providing frankly bizarre complexity, there's a vintage medley of gentle herbaceous scents.
Notes: Soft sunny smells from grandmas herb garden (lemongrass, thyme, rosemary, mint). Next to it the linens drying on the clothesline (soapy old people smell included). Sparkly carbonation from club soda, refreshing cucumber, and bright lime (nice version). Mountain Dew (honest version). Pool chlorine
For a flattering designer spin on this One Summer 2012 & One Summer 2015 by Calvin Klein
Yuta:
Smells clean and masculine with a slight nod to boyishness. Chic but completely unremarkable. He's definingly the type to buy with the trends but also never really expand into anything interesting. After he did his semester abroad in Africa he has the faintest whiff of something warm and exotic(compared to his previous standard) but its unplaceable.
Accords: cool aquatic, department store man smell (only slightly derogatory), fresh bright ephemeral scents like the breeze or sunshine, fabrics and detergent, a hint of sweet/smokey oud.
Note are from SeaZone by AVON (which sounds like a genuinely beautiful fragrance, so don't let it's simplicity be misleading)
Nobara:
Rose heavy with femininizing white florals and sweet/tart fruit, but there's an uncanny edge to it. Frequently layers perfume samples she gets from her shopping trips, which can make her overall scent toe chypre from time to time. Her favorite brands would be Confessions of a Rebel and Juliet has a Gun.
Notes: vanilla, green chypre top and base, sun-ripe red fruits, white florals, rose, metallic notes, pink peppercorn
Yuji:
(Lovingly) he smells exactly like a teenage boy would smell. His deodorant and bodywash/shampoo save him a little bit, though. In a obviously masculine way he smells bright and citrusy with a childish sweetness to it.
United Dreams One Summer by Benetton and Citrus Circus by Snif are the nicer versions of what is realistically probably (axe body spray) some convenience store products.
Not gonna articulate this well but.
I was thinking about the wording of Atsushi's goodbye(?) to Akutagawa in the new chapter being so reminiscent of something that Akutagawa himself would (and did) say. And then I realized when Atsushi throws himself in front of the blade and says that, he's not trying to get Aku to remember who he (Atsushi) is, he's doing it so Aku will remember himself.
Some Atsushi design notes/headcanons
Misc. Chuuya HCs
He has serval ear piercings, but he doesn't wear them at work, often they are hidden by his hair.
Can do makeup, learned from Kouyou
Wears those hella expensive Italian leather dress shoes religiously.
Chuuya sleeps like the dead but wakes up like he's having a heart attack. He doesn't have dreams, or at least can never remember them.
His mind is strangely quiet/baren. That's not to say he doesn't have thoughts, but they aren't loud/layered unless he's really overwhelmed. Otherwise he's very grounded/concise.(He suppresses a LOT and has basically been running a refined fight or flight plan since he first got sent to the lab.)
He's actually a reasonably calm/level headed person most of the time. He can get annoyed easily if he's already stressed/irritated(which is a lot in the mafia ngl) but he tends not to blow up if its unreasonable. Conversely if it is justified or he's having just a truly shit day he goes from like 3 to 100 in seconds. He usually resolves it quickly though (through violence and/or cussing, maybe an apology later if it’s warranted). Interacting with Dazai or thinking about Dazai is the only outlier to this.
Is fond/has a soft spot for kids and is pretty good with them. He also is very friendly/helpful to the elderly and tends to be doted on by them. This attitude extends to animals. (He feels a need to look after things even if he doesn’t know how to.)
Nostalgic/emotional drinker, stressed/on edge smoker
Workaholic. Bit of a complex surrounding personal safety. (Would always take a bullet for one of his men, focuses less on self protection if more of them get hurt then anticipated because he feels he deserves it, trouble saying no to people in need, sacrifices too much of his time. ) This is not helped by the fact that he really has no sense of identity outside of the mafia so why wouldn't he sacrifice himself for the machine.
Owns property in France and just got back from there on a long term mission (several years) when we are first introduced to him. He was called back because of the weretiger. He left because of Dazai.
Has serval bits of paraphernalia from the Flags after they passed, which are kept at his apartment or on his person.
His hands are the most delicate part of him and have very minimal wear/scarring.
Part of the reason he wears his gloves so religiously is to protect the scar he remembers having before everything. It’s irrational but he feels like if it got messed up he’d lose his ‘proof’ of humanity somehow.
He has a small scar on the back of his neck where Verlaine and Rimbaud removed the identification he was given in the lab. Dazai got him the collar to be his dog (to cover it up).
Petite but muscular build, that being said his legs are the only part of him that are actually bulky.
Pre experimentation his hair was duller and his eyes were dark brown. Post his hair is brighter, and a cold blue has migrated into the center of his irises, leaving only a faded brown ring around their edges.
Can float/hover without using corruption but it takes a lot of his concentration and the effects are less impressive. It also doesn't feel very good body wise. The same is true for flipping gravity on himself but to a lesser degree. This is why he tends to prefer manipulating the gravity of an object and then hitching a ride.
The after effects of corruption are vicious, he basically just gets sick. Headache, ringing in his ears, nausea, weird lack of appetite, joint pain, muscles aches, creaky bones, fatigue, soreness, irritability, brain fog, vertigo, spotty/blurry vision. The effects dwindle over a few hours/days.
Every time he activates corruption he reopens hairline scars all across his body. They heal and fade quickly(couple days/months) but the longer he was using it for the longer it takes. He absolutely hates them even though they are barely noticeable. Dazai is the only other person who knows he has them. With each use they get worse.
Calustraphobic
Can speak French
Cusses frequently, not in an angry way its just part of his vocabulary. That being said he could out cuss a sailor if he's actually pissed.
Delicate features
Has a preference for plainer (non pretentious) dishes. This preference extends to exactly nothing else.
Likes harder music (rock, metal) but also jazz, and almost exclusively likes oldies. However, he does enjoy live music regardless of genre.
Has a surprisingly nice karaoke voice for somebody who screams so much.
Tends to be very direct in both communication and conflict resolution. (He cant be bothered to care more a lot of the time). This was a big point of contention between him and Dazai cus that mf would dance around the truth/point reflexively.
After corruption the effects of gravity linger on the area/him. Things get pull to a point/him or pushed away or they are heavier/lighter than expected.
Has mildly accelerated healing
Very intuitively math smart. Money savvy and can do complex physics with ease. He has barely a GED in terms of general knowledge/education though. Most everything he knows is by necessity and was learned by figuring it out for himself.
Cannot stand staying in hospitals. Before he was just antsy to get back to work and felt a little uncomfortable. After the events of Stormbringer he won't set foot in one.
I need to stress that this person fundamentally believes that their conception was a stupid, senseless, selfish act that was so morally obtuse their mother was disqualified from being respected. So why should they respect themselves. The useless bastard child who by all accounts should not exist. It’s all for nothing. Their only purpose is to settle the balance on their mother’s karma and burn out.
