Burmese Bronze Dragon Cannon, 1790 #practice #inksketch #throwback
A smattering of MRT / street scribbles. Almost everyone on the train looks down at their phone the whole time... perfect drawing subjects. But I wonder if the real world is that much more uninteresting to them?...
Haven’t made any chicken scratches for myself in a long while other than some train scribbles… Figures that this one is some Big Bang fanart, based on the m/v “Loser”. So depressing but it’s got such a catchy tune. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1CTced9CMMk Why are angsty korean guys so hot… (?) *edit: don’t understand why the preview looks so pixelated.. :<
I feel like a blue glass bottle stuffed with a pointless message, drifting aimlessly in the pitch blackness of an ocean... Everything is fading away. Only blood ties remain.
Chevy approves of the t-shirt rug I made using old shirts that I would have otherwise thrown away.
Pretty behind, but here's a few ink studies, playing around with brush pen and trying to practice better line control... starting to use pinterest more for reference pics.
I'm not very good at drawing T-rexes... T_T I guess I feel more motivated to draw if it's a gift for someone special. :> ...Time to make more gifts for friends, then! Ink on watercolor paper, with gold brush pen.
Some gift art I did a while back for family.
Any tips for someone who's but a baby in the artists' world?
• draw from life
• draw from that one anime that you feel guilty about liking
• realize there’s no such thing as a guilty pleasure
• draw whatever interests you, even if it seems self-indulgent
• realize that you’re allowed self-indulgences. that’s how you’ll make your strongest, most valuable work
• keep drawing
• don’t stop
• never talk yourself or your work down
• “networking” is a fancy word for making genuine friends. never treat people as business cards, it doesn’t work that way
• never wait for permission, validation, or acceptance. you won’t get it by waiting. you have to earn it.
All of history’s greatest figures achieved success in almost exactly the same way. But rather than celebrating this part of the creative process we ignore it.
This missing chapter in the story of success reveals the secret to doing meaningful work. But in the modern world, full of distraction, do we have what it takes to do great things?
The second in a two-part series about creativity.
Part One: Why Leonardo daVinci was no genius (and what means for the rest of us)
Great video essay on the long road to success.
Fanart of the character Kualo from the movie Seven Swords. One of my favorite villains... she totally rocked that side-shaved look before Skrillex made it popular. Love the costume, weapon and set designs in that movie.
evening stroll.. based on a photo I took a while back.
rough color study
Let's just say it's a bad headache.
My first carved stamp! Fun process, the carving part was most enjoyable. I do admit, I have an obsession with rabbits in art form.
For my bro, Han. Ink on watercolor paper.
