I was asked to design a three page Broadsheet newspaper demonstrating aesthetic us of typographic hierarchy, image and grid work. Through research and experimenting I developed my magazine idea of 'Cross Stroke'.Â
This magazine reflects the subject of 'Urban Greenery.' It uses the grid structure and look of Baseline Magazine. For this project I captured my own images. Â
MONOTYPE A Type Specimen For The Future
I was asked to design a Type Specimen that showcased the font family Agmena. This specimen could utilise media ranging from the printed page to performance or from digital to environmental. The language and communication has to be key to how we engage with the visual and textual world.
From researching the type family Agmena I discovered it was known as ‘The perfect book font’. I wanted to use this in my final design. I researched many books and gathered the dedications at the front of each book to display the font. I thought that this would be a lovely object to keep, interact with the reader, be displayed like a hard back book and also demonstrated what the font will be used for. To follow the brief I researched ideas to make the book interact with people.
My concept was to call the book ‘The dedication book’. Each page is a different dedication from a different book with the Author and Title on each page. Three different variations of Agmena are used on each page. The font is also used in different ways. Some pages have been laser cut and help up by people - physically interacting with the font. Some pages are wrapped in the font and other pages are cut out and dot to dot. Each page interacts with the reader in a different way. I used photography and bound this book myself.Â

Rebranding Dundee brief.
In this brief i was asked to design a packaging idea using the poet Sir John Betjeman and the greater of Velcro, George De Mestral. I began by looking at their similarities. I developed the idea of jam as this reflects how George De Mestral created the idea of Velcro. This also reflects Sir John Betjeman’s love for preserving victorian buildings. The front of the jam jar contains buildings from England and Switzerland (where they both originate from) that have been saved by The Betjeman Society. It also contains listed and victorian buildings.Â
