alpha magnus.
an alpha magnus (’magnus’, from the latin meaning ‘great’) or ‘great alpha’, is a wolf who was ascended in power above the status of alpha. a great alpha has an influence of at least three packs, each with their own alpha. it is not uncommon for the packs and their alpha to act independent of their great alpha, however are called upon by their great alpha when they are required. alternatively, some great alphas chose to ‘rule’ with one large pack and several alphas acting as their ‘inner circle’ of the pack.
in history, the title of ‘wolf king’ is believed to have been used to describe a great alpha.
although some wolves are believed to have striven for the status of great alpha in order to achieve power and, in some documented cases, a wolf army of sorts, there have been cases of great alphas achieving and extending their influence in aid of peace by uniting warring packs and ending blood feuds.
the becoming of a great alpha, much like the becoming of an alpha, has several paths. some are more violent and aggressive, while others a more passive route.in some cultures, the paths are referred to as ‘dark’ and ‘light’, or ‘chaos’ and ‘order’. much like when a wolf can challenge an alpha to achieve their status, an alpha can challenge a great alpha to achieve their position. however, although to become an alpha, a wolf must simply kill an alpha in battle, to become a great alpha, the wolf must kill the great alpha and eat their heart filled with their blood. this is considered the violent, aggressive path. however, unlike when an alpha retains their status if their pack were to abandon them or perish, a great alpha needs the support of at least three alpha-led packs to retain their status, as three is a number of power observed by wolves (as well as witches).
the more passive, non-violent path is when a wolf receives the respect and loyalty of a pack. this concept, typically referred to as a ‘bond’, has been documented in various forms of lycanthropes, but is more prominent in those who transform into beasts that typically live in packs. the ‘bond’ is not simply a spoken agreement, or even a physical union or display, but is described by those who experience it as either a spiritual experience, or as something similar to ‘gut instinct’ - something that occurs deep within their very selves that affects their minds and bodies. other instances of such a ‘bond’ has been documented in the instance of ‘true mates’. however this ‘bond’ refers to a wolf, in this case, an alpha, declaring loyalty to another. much like a nobleman or knight would swear to serve their king, for example, an alpha is bound by more than simply duty, but the ‘natural order’ to protect and fight for the other.
it is though the influence of at least three of these particular ‘bonds’ that a wolf, typically an alpha, can achieve the status of great alpha. in modern terminology, no widely used term to describe this ‘bond’ has been documented - wolves may simply ‘declare their loyalty’. however, in documented history, terms such as ‘brother’ - ‘blood brother’, ‘wolf brother’ have been used.
Wolf Body Language
Affection – nose-pushing; touching with forepaw; jaw-wrestling; cheek rubbing; facial licking
Afraid – wolf tries to make their body smaller; ears flat on the head; tail tucked between the legs; arched back; whines or makes short, sharp barks; runs away with its tail between its legs
Angry – ears erect; fur bristles; lips up and curled back to reveal incisors; snarls; wolf crouches as it prepares to attack; tail held stiffly and horizontally
Calm – tail points straight down; wolf sits or lays down on its side; wags tail slightly
Dominant – wolf stands tall; ears erect and forward; fur bristles; tail held vertically; stares at submissive wolves; may bark and growl. Asserting dominance: dominant wolf will bite the neck of the inferior wolf and hold it for a moment or bite the snout of the inferior wolf
Happy – tail wags slightly; tongue lolls out of mouth
Nervous – wolf narrows eyes; ears flat against the head; tail is parallel to the ground
Playful – tail is high and wags; wolf frolics around; may lay low while holding the rear high in a manner reminiscent of domestic dogs; littermates may bite each others’ jaws
Active submission: body is lowered; lips and ears drawn back; tongue thrust in and out of the mouth rapidly; tail placed down or between the legs; muzzle points toward dominant animal; submissive wolf may lick the muzzle of the dominant wolf; the more the back arches and the tail tucks, the more submissive the wolf is; sometimes used as a form of greeting
Passive submission: wolf rolls on its back to expose throat and belly; paws drawn into the body; wolf whimpers

I want you to moan. I want you to gasp in my ear, pretending like you’re trying to hide the sound, like you’re trying to smother it, but I still hear it. I want your fingernails to dig into my skin and your lips to move faster and harder and deeper against mine. I want your eyes to roll back in your head and your body to push into mine, until we’re sticking to each other’s skin. I want to feel the heat radiating from your skin, I want to feel your muscles shake against my flesh. I want you to beg and I want you to throw your head back, shuddering for breath. I want your neck to be exposed for me to bite and your chest to be bare so it can be skin on skin, flesh on flesh. I want your legs wrapped around me, I want us to grind on each other so hard it makes your muscles clench and your jaw drop and your eyes have a look of pure ecstasy.
I want you. (via kristenstrewart)
There’s a lovely old English myth that if someone who truely loved and trusted the werewolf called it by name that it would turn back to human.
Others include throwing their human clothes at it and it’d turn back but that’s a bit less romantic
In truth, you like the pain. You like it because you believe you deserve it.
