Marley has never been the best at packing, she still hasn’t quite perfected fitting as much in as possible, as neatly as possible; something her mother has always been excellent at.
All throughout her childhood, Marley recalls her mother being an absolute wizard when it came to packing. In fact, up until the age of fourteen, she refused to pack herself, because she knew her mum would do a better job; When the day came where she had to do it herself, it was not the happiest for her.
Now, even 12 years later, she still hasn’t quite mastered it. Usually, she gives up half way through, and just hopes that the suitcase or bag shuts when she’s put everything in. But, regardless of how messy the case is packed, she always makes sure to bring three items in particular: fluffy socks, an extra of each article of clothing, and her skincare/shower products.
The fluffy socks has a very simple, and perhaps obvious reasoning: for comfort, and warmth, because she has been to far too many hotels, holiday homes, caravans etc. that just were not warm enough. The extra clothing is fuelled by her paranoia that she’ll run out, or some outlandish emergency will arise which will mean that she absolutely has to have extra underwear to hand.
Whilst she isn’t sure if this is a popular or unpopular opinion (although she cannot see how it could ever be unpopular), she always makes sure to have her own face products, body wash, and hair care; "The stuff that the hotels and such provide just don’t cut it, it’s shameful how awful they are!" Marley Kim, anytime someone tells her she’s being ridiculous, or need not pack that.
If Marley forgets the socks or the products, she’ll buy some, because she knows they’ll be put to use after the trip is done. But in terms of the extra clothing, she absolutely never forgets. If she ever did, she'd probably have a melt down, and go out and buy the missing articles.
