You slowly start to come to consciousness, to comfortable in your current state to open your eyes. Wrapped up in warm blankets, cuddled into the soft couch, and a weight over your middle.
Turns out, once your eyes shot open, that weight was Steveâs arm, draped over your side and holding you securely to his body. Your heart skipped a beat when you felt his breath fan the side of your face, and his fingers twitch across your stomach. Just to prove to yourself that this moment was real, you lifted your hips and butt-scooted as close as possible to Steveâs own hips without waking him up. Hell yeah, this was real.
For a moment longer, you quieted your thoughts as you felt and listened to Steveâs breathing, his chest rising up and down with your own. Something about being close to him was soothing, not just physically but emotionally as well. You havenât been this âcloseâ to someone in...well, ever. And you had to admit it felt fantastic. Especially with Steve.
But if Steve was awake, would he want this?
Suddenly thoughts of doubt came rushing through, your stomach twisting. What if Steve wakes up, and he freaks out about spooning you? Last night he seemed friendly and kind with you, making sure you were okay, but did he think of you as more of a friend? Would he want this? You slowly pulled Steveâs tight grip off of you, hoping to god he wouldnât wake up. Successfully scooting away from him, you lifted the blanket to stand, turning around to look at him.
He looked so blissful, nearly drooling on the pillow, hair ruffled around more than usual. You imagined that if he did feel the same about you, you could get right back into your spot and curl up into him again. You could run your hands through his thick locks and kiss his neck till he woke up, while his own hands could run distractedly over your skin. If only.
You forced your eyes away from his form, turning to walk down the hall. A shower. Thatâs what will help take your mind off things.
Once you shut the door to the bathroom, you started to peel off the top bandage, wincing as the adhesive stuck to your skin. Looking in the mirror you observed the thick slit of dried blood above your eyebrow, making your black eye seem less obvious. The second cut matched the first, bringing a lot of attention to the left side of your face. As for your busted lip, it looked about the same.
Sighing and pulling off the rest of your clothes, you started the running water. Steve would be able to hear the shower when he woke up, right? Yeah, heâd be fine. Hoping in, you ran your hands through your hair, making sure the water soaked through all the way. You could feel the dull ache in the back of your head as your fingers pass over the bump that formed overnight. This whole situation was going to be so fun to explain to your Mother.
âNow, remember, money for food on the counter, fresh cookies on the oven, and Dustin has a sleepover tonight. Iâll be back Monday night, you're going to have to get your brother to school too.â Claudia spoke, grabbing her purse off the table.
âI know Mom, Iâve got this.â You laughed, leaning against the side of the counter. She turned to give you a loving look, opening her arms for a hug. You hugged her back, breathing in the flowery smell of her perfume. She sighed, âI just worry about you both. You canât blame me though. One of my babyâs a young adult, I should be nervous anyhowâŠâ
You laughed at her, letting go and taking a step back to hand her her coat. âYou can keep calling me that, but the descriptive term âadultâ is never going to stick.â Claudia laughed as well, shaking her head before a light bulb went off in her brain, âOh, and if that Steve Harrington boy comes over, I expect you to use protection, because we both know I canât really stop you-â
âMOM!?â You exclaimed, mortified by the sudden change of topic, âHe doesnât like me like that!â Claudia rolled her eyes playfully, âCome on, you donât have to lie to me. I see the looks you both give each other when your all hanging out with the kids. I just adore watching your puppy love, itâs just like me and your Father where when we were young-â
âPlease, please, please stop talking! You need to get on the road!â You begged, starting to push her out the door in hopes she wouldnât notice the hot flush filling your cheeks. âOkay, okay, fine. I love you so much, and donât forget to feed Tews!â She said, kissing your cheek before you finally got her out of the doorway. âBye, Mom!â
You suddenly heard a loud knock, jerking you out of your thoughts, and a voice follows, âY/N, you in there? Are you alright?â You shook your head with a soft smile at Steveâs worried questions. Ever since he pretty much adopted the kids, he became such a worrisome dad-figure. Or mom-figure. âYeah, Iâm just showering, Iâll be out in a minute!â You shouted.
From the other side of the door, Steveâs mouth twitched up in a concerned frown, something not settling right with him. Why was the fact that you didnât wake him up first bothering him? I mean, Y/N probably just wanted to let him sleep in. Of course, that was it, sheâs always considerate. Steve turned to walk back down the hallway, dragging a hand through his knotted hair. An idea struck his head when his eyes met with the couch again, what if Steve was just upset because he wanted to wake up with you?
He envisioned you and him laying together on the couch, entangled in each other's limbs. His hands gliding slowly up your sides as he pecked your lips until you woke up. Your tired eyes would flutter open to meet his, your signature giggle bubbling from your chest as you kissed him back. He could roll over you, pinning you beneath him and wishing you good morning, breaking from your mouth to kiss down your jaw and neck. You could whisper sweet nothings in his ear, and he could drown in his own happinessâŠ
Steve shook his head lightly, blinking a couple times. No. He could not keep doing this to himself if he wasnât sure you didnât feel the same way. Especially after this whole fiasco with Billy. Steve couldnât do that to you.
A door opened behind him as footsteps started coming closer, Steve turning around involuntarily. Of course, there you were standing in only a wrapped towel, wet hair draped over your shoulder.
âHey, I just remembered I gotta pick up Dustin. If you wanna come, I can drive us, but I donât know what time you have to be home,â You said, going completely oblivious to Steve staring at you like he wanted to have you right there and then. He cleared his throat, just managing to rip his eyes away from your body and to your face. âUh, yeah, thatâd be cool. I got nothing else to do and my parents donât really care soâŠâ
You smiled curiously at him, a little concerned at how distracted he was, âAlright, well, I gotta get dressed and dry my hair real quick.â And with that, you started climbing the stairs.
Steve couldnât help his boyish hormones as he watched you, hips swaying beneath the towel and water dripping down your legs still. He groaned to himself, swiping his hands over his face. This girl was going to be the death of him, whether or not she knew it.
âLEMME AT HIM, NO ONE HURTS MY SISTER AND GETS AWAY WITH IT!!â Dustin shouted, Steve holding him back by the hood of his jacket as he tried to bolt for the door.
Steve sighed, watching Dustinâs flailing arms, âNot happening, Dipshit, I already tried.â
After you had arrived at the Wheeler household, the kids demanded to be told what happened when they saw your bruised face, Dustin the most persistent. As you told them the story, you felt terribly pathetic at how easily it sounded Billy had beaten you senseless. Eleven could kill demodogs like it was nothing, and Max nearly ripped her brothers nuts off with the nailed bat, and you couldnât even land a solid blow. You really didnât understand why the kids looked up to you, anyhow. Nancy and Jonathan were just as taken aback as the kids, Jonathan in general anger and Nancy brewing in thought. You even told accidentally everyone how Steve had slept over because he had to patch you up. Speaking of the devil, Steve finally let go of Dustin and moved to sit down on the recliner you stood by.
âY/N, are you sure we all donât need to go find him and whoop his butt?â Will spoke, standing beside the couch where the others sit. You shook your head, smiling at him softly. Will was such a softy most of the time, it made you happy when he got protective, something resembling Jonathan. This time, Max spoke up, âSeriously, I really wouldnât mind killing him today.â
âNah, itâs fine, guys. Iâm pretty sure he was too drunk to remember it anyways,â You reassured, looking around the room for some place to sit. âIâm still not convinced. I think I should grab my hockey stick and shove it up his ass,â Dustin huffed, arms folded.
âIâm going to pretend I disapprove of that statement,â You muttered, Steve laugh-scoffing as he was the only one to hear you. âNah, he already has a stick up his ass,â Max added, making the room bubble in laughter.
âSo, what did you guys do last night?â You asked the group, wanting to change the subject. âWell, I got a new die for El so we were finally able to create her character,â Mike added, glancing lovingly at Eleven. Lucas started to add something in on the conversation, but you focus turned to the dull ache you started to feel in the back of your head again. As if Steve could read your mind, he spoke up from next to you. âHey, do you need to sit down?â
You glanced down at him, his big warm eyes concerned. âNo, no, itâs okay. You donât need to move.â
âOh, come on, I can see your head is bothering you. If you faint, Iâll feel like itâs my fault,â He chuckled. You rolled your eyes, âI donât want to make you get up.â
âWell...you could just sit on my lap.â
Your nerves attempted to leap out of your body once his statement reached your brain, and you turned to look at him again. âAre you sure?â
You saw a flicker of doubt on his face like he wasnât sure that was a smart move on his part before it was replaced by his usual confidence. âYeah, I donât mind.â
You moved in front of him and sat down sideways, your legs perpendicular to his, hanging over the edge of the chair. Your back was resting against the arm of the chair as well, Steveâs own arm coming to rest over your lap. He laughed lightly when he noticed how uncomfortable you were in your position. âIf thatâs hurting your back you can lean into me if you need.â
You smiled slyly after a moment, deciding you needed to step up your game, âI think Iâm gonna have to take you up on that offer since, you know, you were pretty comfortable last night.â After âsnugglingâ into his side, Steve cocked an eyebrow with a smirk, âOh, I was?â Â
You nodded, âMhmm,â repressing a giggle with a mischievous closed mouth smile. Steveâs tongue darted out to wet his lips, glancing at your own, âWell, maybe next time you wonât have a concussion. That way I can be a little rough.â
Your mouth gaped open, slapping his chest. âSteve Harrington, if these dipshits hear your assumptions will be made, and I will never hear the end of it,â You giggled.
âAnd whatâs so wrong with assumptions?â He said cockily.
Before you could reply, Dustin cleared his throat from across the room. âSteve, May I speak to you in the kitchen for a second.â
Steve gave him a questioning look, turning to you again. âIâm pretty sure heâs about to hound me. Iâll be back,â He told you as you moved off of him, his hand gracing your lower back as he walked past.
Once Steve entered the kitchen, he saw Dustin waiting for him against the counter, foot tapping the floor. âWhat do you want, punk?â
âWhen did you decide to go after my sister?â Dustin asked blatantly, catching Steve a little off guard. Steveâs mouth opened and closed, trying to find the right words, only to have Dustin cut him off again. âOkay, you know what, Iâm okay with this cause your not a douche anymore. But I swear if you hurt her in any way I will have El open the Upside Down and Iâll throw you down there myself.â
âWhoa, whoa, whoa, slow down and stop threatening me-â
âI HAVE A NATUral born right to threaten you with trying to bag Y/N, Steve! You should have told me before you started flirting with her!â
Steve waved his hands in front of him, âDude, what do you want me to do?! Ask for your blessing?â

âOh my god, Dustin, I canât believe Iâm having this conversation with you right now.â Steve sighed, placing his hands on his hips after defending himself. Dustin huffed, eyes still shooting daggers at Steveâs soul. âY/N is my sister. She had never been in an actual relationship before, I told you that. I knew you asked questions before, but it didnât occur to me that you were interested until I saw you smiling like a dork when she got on your lap.â
âOkay, so then what are you complaining about?â
âIâm complaining because Y/N is a very emotionally driven person. She gets attached to things really easy and if you work your way into her heart and then drop her like itâs nothing, your going to be the one who gets a hockey stick up the ass. ALSO, did you do anything last night with her?â
âNo, Dustin, of course not. She had just gotten into a fist fight over her dignity and you think Iâm going to make a move?â He rolled his eyes hard, finding this conversation completely ridiculous. Dustin nodded, grumpy expression still plastered on his face, âGood.â
Steve bit the inside of his lip, âAnything else to add, Mr. Henderson?â He said bitterly.
âOh, yeah, and since you didnât warn me sheâs your new destination, Iâm gonna delay your flight for a little while,â Dustin stepped up to pat his shoulder, walking past him afterward. âWhat the hell is that suppose to mean?â Steve whispered to himself, turning to go back into the living room.
âHey?! Why does Steve get shotgun?â Dustin pitched as you unlocked the doors to your car, Steve automatically on the passenger's side.
You hopped in, starting up the engine before replying, âCause heâs bigger and stronger than you, thatâs why.â
Steve pretended the way you said âbigger and strongerâ didnât send his nerves flying through the roof.
âWhat does that have to do with anything? You just want him to ride next to you for easy access,â Dustin grumbled under his breath as you peeled out of the Wheelerâs driveway. You grimaced, a hot flush filling your cheeks, watching Steve glance at you out of your peripheral vision. âShut up, Dustin.â
After spending the whole day over at Mikeâs, Dustin finally admitted that he wanted to go home. Pulling Steve out from his mother-hen duties with the kids, you all finally said goodbyes and made your way out to the car. To which Dustin decided to promptly pick a fight. Luckily for the rest of the car ride though, everyone sat in tension-filled silence. You exhaled a breath of relief as you pulled into your lonely driveway, your brother bolting for the door oddly. âGod, sometimes the way Dustin acts confuses me,â You groaned next to Steve, both of you still sitting in the car watching Dustin disappear through the threshold. âNo shit. But heâs a good kid. âGot a good head on his shoulders, most of the time.â Steve sighed. You lightly chuckled, pulling the door handle and stepping out.
Sauntering next to Steve, you both stopped once you reached the door to your house, Steve hesitating with his hands in his pockets.
âI should probably be getting home now. Take a shower, be ready for school tomorrow, all that nonsenseâŠâ Steve muttered.
âOh god, I forgot we have school tomorrow. Would you mind picking me and Dustin up?â You asked him, not giving any particular reason other than wanting to be around him as much as possible.
âYeah, of course,â he said, silence following as you just smiled in return. Steveâs eyes flickered to your eye and healing cuts, âYou sure your alright? I know Dustinâs here now, but...if you need anything-â
You looked at your feet and giggled, âIâm fine, Stevie. If I need you, Iâll send for you.â
Steve watched as your hair draped in front of your face, still looking at your worn shoes, the porch light illuminating the strands.
Unable to restrain himself, he gently brought his fingers up and tucked your (y/h/c) locks behind your ear. As you looked up at him, Steve cautiously kept his hand there, placing it to were his thumb stopped just before your ear and cupped the back of your jaw, the pads of his fingers grazing into your hair.
Steve felt everything he needed to feel, and for a while now. You were this gorgeous sweetheart who deserved better than him, yet you were still here, looking up at him like he was the thunder to your lightning.
He felt your electricity. And he was addicted before he even realized.
You brought your own hand up, surprising Steve, and set it over his own on the side of your face, leaning into his touch.
Steve took this as a sign of permission and started to lean closer. He moved his other hand to your hair, your nose gently bumping into his. Your breathing turned rough, your lungs having a hard time moving, but you wanted this more than anything in the world. So did Steve.
Until the door slammed open.
âHEY, Y/N, why arenât you inside yet? I need help with pizza rolls,â a voice called.
You and Steve jerked apart, your cheeks burning hot and Steveâs heart beating a mile a minute. You met eyes with Dustin, the stupid little fucker leaning against the door frame with an innocent look on his face (hiding that mockingly toothy grin).
âOh, hey Steve, what are you still doing here?â He asked, looking at him with big blue eyes.
Steve restrained himself from strangling the 14-year-old, covering the lower half of his face with his hand to prevent him from saying something stupid.
âDonât you gotta get home? I mean, it is a school night,â Dustin added.
He had no intention of leaving, and Steve had finally realized what âIâm going to delay your flightâ meant. Steve glanced back to you, putting his hands on his hips with a sigh, âWell, I should get going. Iâll see you tomorrow, Y/N.â
Your stomach dropped as your anger started to grow. You were going to kill Dustin. âYeah, see you tomorrow.â
And with that, Steve turned around and briskly walked to his car, knowing that if he didnât leave now heâd end up tackling you in front of your brother anyway. He was so fucking close to your plush lips, and that son of a bitch stopped him.
Turning around to Dustin as Steve drove away, you bit the inside of your lip and glared daggers at him.

You pulled it away, trying to gauge how much blood was seeping out of the wounds. Shaking your head as you pressed it back on, you flipped on the lights to the kitchen.
You had the house to yourself tonight, Dustin being gone at Mikeâs with Jonathan and Nancy, and your Mother out of town for a family visit. If she would have seen you walk into the house all bloodied up, your ass would have been grass. Not to mention it was almost midnight, too.
You sighed as you set your keys down along with a pizza you had gotten earlier  (uneaten), your black eye beginning to throb against your hand. âFuck meâŠâ you said aloud, seeing yourself in the reflection of the toaster. Your left eye was dark, the edge bloodied from a cut just above your eyebrow, and another just below the cheekbone. On the other side, a slit in your lip was dark and bruised, thankfully not bleeding quite bad as the others. And finally, your fading bloody nose.
You shook your head at yourself, remembering what started the stupid fight you got into. You were outside of the local pizza joint, walking back to your car with a steaming fresh pepperoni pizza, to which you were extremely excited to eat. Until Hargrove showed up.
âHey, sweetheart. Havenât seen you around in a while,â He said, waltzing up to the driver's side of your car you were trying to unlock with one hand. You could quite literally smell the whiskey coming off him in waves. âBilly.â
âAwh, thatâs all I get? I bet Harrington gets more of a greeting than that,â He smirked at you, resting his elbow on the top of your car. âYou're nearly stuck to his side after all,â
âSteveâs my friend, we hang out every once in awhile, nothing more.â You stated plainly, trying to keep your voice level and expression straight. All you wanted was for Billy to walk away and let you go home. The last thing you needed was him knowing something Steve didnât.
He took a second to respond, intently watching you, âOhh, I see. Unrequited love thing, huh? Poor little girl wants to be a lot more than friends with old Steve-o, but he doesnât see it that way, does he?â
You flare your nostrils, looking down at your feet. Fuck, fuck, fuck.
Billy chuckled, stepping a little closer. âOh, he doesnât.â
âGo away, Billy, I gotta get home,âYou pulled open your door, setting the pizza down on the seat, only to have it shut by  his hands before you could get in. âWhatâs the rush, doll? How long has it been since anyoneâs given you the attention you deserve?â
You were a little caught off guard by the question, looking up to meet his eyes, jaw clenched. âNone of your business,â You mumbled. âI bet Steve hasnât. âProbably just takes a pretty little dame like you for granted.â Billy had his hand still on the top of the door, now having maneuvered you in between the car and him. Sure, Billy Hargrove was attractive as shit, although  his demeanor made him impossible to handle. But you had to admit to yourself that something about being this close to him sparked your interest. The way his eyes lusted over you, that was an attention no one had payed you before. You stayed silent, still holding his gaze sternly.  You watched his drunken blueâs flicker to your mouth, his tongue coming out to wet his lips. âYou donât know what you're doing, Billy,â You said as he slowly leaned in toward you. âI know exactly what i'm doing.â
In one fluid motion, he planted his lips squarely on yours, hot and open-mouthed. For a moment...you gave in. You kissed Billy Hargrove back.
You banished your thoughts as you remembered the kiss, not wanting to go any further into the nightâs memory, not yet. As you turned around to face the empty kitchen, suddenly feeling a little too alone in your thoughts.
Your wandering eyes met the phone on the wall, and for a second it seemed to be begging you to use it. âIâm gonna regret this, arenât I,â You said, walking over and grabbing the handle, pressing the numbers you knew all too well.
After a few times ringing, a groggy voice picked up on the other end, âHello?â
âHi, Steve.â
âY/N? What are you doing calling me at...12 in the morning? Are you okay?â He asked. You heard some shuffling on the other end of the line, assuming you had officially woke him up now. Honestly, you were surprised he was even asleep.
âYeah, you could say that...but I, uh, I just wanted to call and, uhh⊠you know what, never mind,â You sighed, realizing this was a stupid idea. Steve finally had a night off from his adventures in babysitting and you were ruining it, âI shouldnât have called and woke you up.â
âWhoa, whoa, whoa, what are you talking about? You can call me anytime, donât worry about it. And you certainly wouldnât have called me at midnight if something wasnât wrong,â
You sighed, running a hand over your face. There was no going back now. âY/N?â Steve asked after your silence, hesitating to speak.
âI got into a fight,â You blurted.
âYou what?! Fuck, are you hurt? Thatâs it...Iâm coming over,â And the line dropped.
When you opened the door to let Steve in 15 minutes later, you knew he was gonna be pissed. But to perfectly describe the look on his face when he saw your own, he was riding a wave of emotions.
âHoly shit, Henderson,â He said, taking a step in and never taking his eyes off you as you shut the door. You stood in a guilty posture, turning your back around to face him. âI want to know who did this to you, now,â He spoke angrily as he stepped up towards you, taking you off guard by cupping his hands around your face to examine your injuries. âIf I tell you, you're gonna be mad.â
âIâm already mad, Y/N. Tell me.â His hands didnât leave your face even after he was finished.
You breathed out, avoiding eye contact, â...It may or may not have been Hargrove,â
Steveâs eye widened and his eyes became unfocused, undoubtedly imagining Billyâs fist making contact with your cheek. Suddenly he lunged for the door, and you knew exactly what was running through his mind. âNo! No! NO! You are not going to hunt him down!â You grabbed his jacket to pull him away from the door, bringing him back to you.
âHe hurt you, Y/N! Look at what he did to you, how am I supposed to let him live?!â Â Steve exclaimed, large hands gripping your shoulders. âBecause, Steve, you donât even know what happened! Calm down,â You said, hands gently releasing his lapel and resting on his chest. His heartbeat was frantic, and you couldnât help but wonder if that was for you.
You watched as Steveâs tense body slackened under your touch, his big brown eyes softening to look at you like he was looking at a kicked puppy. âIâm sorry, I-I just⊠It breaks my heart to see you like this.â
âI am fine. Well, Iâm going to be fine, but whatever⊠will you just clean me up, please? I didnât call you over so you could have a heart attack,â You chuckled lightly, watching as Steve finally rolled his eyes with a small smile. Running a hand through his hair he asked you, âWhereâs your hydrogen peroxide?â
You shook your head, leading him to the bathroom. You grabbed the necessary supplies and sat down on the edge of the bathtub, while Steve knelt down in front of you, pouring some HP on a cloth.
âThis is gonna hurt like a bitch,â Steve said, gently holding under your jaw to tip your head up. He pressed the cloth to the first cut briskly, holding it momentarily. You hissed in pain, tempted to pull away from him. He gave you puppy dog eyes, âIâm so sorry,â He pulled it back, leaning in to kiss your forehead before doing another cut. You hoped to god you werenât blushing even though your cheeks felt hot.
After a bit of small talk as he continued, you tell him about how your mother was out of town and him explaining how his parents were on another business trip, he brought up the question you both had been avoiding.
âSo, when are you gonna tell me what happened?â He looked into your eyes, his big browns melting your insides.
âWellâŠâ
Billy kissed you firmly, his hands finding your hips and giving a light squeeze. At the same time, you couldnât think clearly as your hands found the space in between his shoulders and neck, dragging your nails along his skin. He groaned into your mouth, pinning you to the car with his hips. You hadnât been kissed like this in a long time, and your logical thinking went out the window as you lightly bit down on his bottom lip.  God,  you bet Steve could kiss you better. You imagined that Billyâs  hands were Steveâs, and his touch wasnât just filled with lust, but care and  love...

You suddenly pulled back, pushing Billy a good foot away from you, both breathless. âNo, this canât happen. We canât happen,â You shook your head, watching as Billyâs brows furrowed. âCome on, Kitten, donât do this,â He took another step toward you, but you put you hand out to keep the distance. âBilly, That was a mistake, we hardly know each other, I-I...â Iâm in love with Steve.
âYou know you want this. You know no other guy is gonna give it to you, just let me-â
Now he was starting to piss you off. You pushed him away again, regretting letting him get close to you the first time. âI said No. Iâm going home now, and you're not gonna stop me,â
You tried to open your car door, but Billy caught your wrist, âI can and I will.â
Thatâs it. You had had enough of him tonight. You tried jerking your hand out of his grip, but to no luck he had an iron grip. âBilly, let go of me, or I swear to god I will kick your ass.â
âOh really? You're gonna kick my-â Before he could finish his sentence, you threw your arm into the side of his head, effectively backhanding him to stumble a few feet away. You tried to jump for your door fast enough, but Billy beat you to it. He gripped your throat, twisting you around so your back was against the car. âYou think you can get away that easy?â He began raising you off the ground, the tips of your shoes scraping the ground.
You threw your knee into his crotch as hard as you could before he could get you high, and he bent over to drop you to the ground. You gripped your throat, coughing, before Billy threw his knee into your face. Your head bounced back and slammed into the car as you felt blood start to seep from above your eyebrow, Â pain exploding from the back of your head. Billy bent down in front of you, anger and frustration covering his face. âNo stupid bitch like you is gonna treat me like this,â He said, throwing his fist into your face before you could speak. He did it again, and again, and again as you started to become incoherent, before you realized you had your switchblade in your pocket. Â Ducking so his punch landed on the hard asphalt instead of your face again, you popped the blade and held it up to the side of his throat, grabbing his shirt so he couldnât pull away. His face wiped blank once he realized the cold point was pressing into his skin, and all went silent.
âYou wouldnât.â
You put the slightest pressure more on the blade, Billy trying to jerk away to no success. âI could plunge this dead into your main artery, and youâd bleed out in seconds. Try me.â
Billy raised up his hands in slow hesitant surrender, Â keeping your gaze for a moment before you released his collar and he stood. Keeping your knife pointed towards him, he back up till he was a few feet away. âYou ainât worth it anyway.â
Then he turned his back and walked off. You breathed out once he was surely gone, letting your head rest on the cold ground.
âAll I wanted was pizza.â
âSo let me get this straight,â Steve said, adding the last band-aid to your cheek, âBilly came onto you, then he...kissed you but you kissed back, and then you started a fight you also happened to end without anybody dying?â
âYeah, pretty much.â You answered back shyly. Steveâs eyes were full of some unknown emotion as his gaze was pointed towards the ground. During your storytelling, you thankfully didnât let it slip that Billy was bringing up Steve the entire time just to manipulate you. Or that you thought of him when you kissed BillyâŠ
âWhat stopped you?â Steve asked abruptly.
âWhat?â You gave him a confused look.
âWhat stopped you from following through with Hargrove?â
You inhaled, already knowing your true answer. But you couldnât just come out and say âIâm catastrophically in love with you and not himâ, so you stuck with something simpler, âBecause heâs a narcissistic abusive asshole who happened to be insanely drunk on whiskey.â And if you werenât paying attention, you would have missed the nearly disappointed look that flickered across Steveâs face, almost like he was hoping for a different answer. âWell, thatâs reasonable.â
You glanced over at the clock on the wall in an attempt to avoid awkward silence and saw it had now turned to 1:56 am. âShit, Stevie, itâs really late. Iâm so sorry for making you show upâŠâ
âNo, donât worry about it. If you ever need me, just call.â He smiled at you and you smiled at him.
Then a lightbulb went off in your brain. âIf you want, you can stay here. âCause I know you're tired, and your house is almost across town,â
âI would love too if you donât mind, of course.â He said, trying to cover up the spike of excitement he felt. You stood, walking towards the living room with Steve trailing behind you. âI donât have any clothes for you, but you can take the couch and we can maybe watch a movie? Plus Iâve still got that pizza?â
Steve smiled, throwing himself down onto the couch in a tired heap, âSounds alright. Whatâs our options?â You bent down in front of the television cabinet, running your hands over the VHSâs. âWe got A New Hope, Chinatown, Ghostbusters, The Exorcist, The Shining, Evil Dead-â
âWhat is with the sudden burst of horror movies?â Â Steve said, laughing lightly at you. âLetâs just say that Dustin and I have spent many a night binge watching horror movies, okay?â
âWell then, why donât you throw on The Shining? Havenât seen that one in a while and god knows your not gonna make it through a whole movie,â He teased you. âOh, whatever, Harrington! I donât always fall asleep!â Steve nodded his head, sarcastically mocking you as he looked away, dragging a hand through his hair. Stupid Steve Harrington mannerism.
Fortunately, you had just made it past the halfway point of the movie, but you could tell you werenât going to last much longer.
After you had gotten your pajamas on and started the movie with Steve, it was like a magnet had settled in between you and him. Starting off, you had sat down on the opposite end of the couch, him and you both settled in the corners. But after about 5 minutes, Steve was the first one to gravitate. It started with him shifting, managing to scoot a little closer and stretching his arms out on the back of the couch. Then it turned to you, where you pulled your feet up switched around about a foot.
And now here you are, shoulder to shoulder with Steve, comfortably leaning into his side while his arm slides down around your shoulder naturally. Surprisingly, your heart wasnât thundering in your chest like it usually was when you were close to him. You finally felt...at ease. And that even surprised you by based on tonight's events.
Your eyes started to shut involuntarily, your conscious state slowly slipping away as much as you tried to stay awake. Your head fell lightly into the crook of Steveâs neck, but you jerked it back up, suddenly embarrassed as you realized what you were doing. Steve chuckled, your action not going unnoticed.
âWould you just let yourself go to sleep, Y/N?â He told you, watching you as your big (y/e/c) eyes turned up to meet his. âI can go upstairs if you want, I donât wanna crowd your space...â you spoke groggily, not paying attention to the way Steveâs lips were curled into a loving smile as he watched your eyes try to focus on him.
âYou're not even gonna make it halfway up the stairs. Just stay.â
You bit the inside of your lips as Steve turned back to the movie, and after a second of debate, you laid your head back down in the crook of his neck. Unbeknownst to you, Steveâs skin felt electrified where your body touched his, and it didnât help that you briskly moved your arm to wrap around his midsection.
His own instincts moved his arm up to your hair, gently threading his fingers into your (y/h/c) locks. âGoodnight, Y/N.â He said as your eyes fluttered contently closed, deeply grateful for this blissful moment. If only this could be every night.
Steve stopped paying attention to the movie within minutes, just deciding to watch you. Not in a creepy way, but just observing how peaceful and beautiful you looked with the television light displayed on your features.Â
He knew you were gorgeous from the second Steve met you a long time ago at the start of high school, but it didnât occur in his brain that you might be the love of his life. After really getting to know you with all the Demogorgon shit lately, you became his best friend. Billy Hargrove had the intention of taking advantage of you, and especially since he nearly beat your face to a pulp, Steve had zero intention of letting you out of his sight. He was going to keep you safe, and he was going to beat Billy with his nailed bat if he wasnât careful. But the only thing standing in his way was the doubt in the back of his mind that Y/N didnât feel the electricity Steve felt.Â
She kissed Billy back. What does that mean? Did she do it because she was attracted to Billy or did she do it because she craved the affection? Steve knew she hadnât ever been in a relationship that went past the first date (figured it out from Dustin). Steve had caught Y/N staring at him often, to which she would duck her head away and pretend that she wasnât. And sometimes Steve would stare at Y/N when she wasnât watching and his eyes would trace the curve of her face, and the way her hair fell over her shoulders. He was falling irrevocably in love with her, and he couldnât do anything about it.Â
But Steve Harrington knew, brushing his thumb down her cheek gently now, that he wanted to have this every night. He wanted to hold her in his arms and keep her safe from harm. And the only way he could do that was to tell her how he felt.Â

Bucky shook his head, his irritation level rising. He loved Steve like a brother, but man did he feel like punching him in the face right now.Â
âNo,â He grunted simply. He didnât have to give a reason not to.
Currently, Tony was throwing a small get together between the Team and a few SHEILD Agents. After lots of convincing from almost everyone, they managed to keep the number of people invited to a minimum, much to a reluctant Tony. Steve was also determined tonight to get Bucky to spend some one on one time with Y/N.Â
Bucky may have denied it many, many times, but it was not hard to see that he had a special attachment to you. Just as he watched Bucky flare his nose and roll his eyes, a figurative lightbulb went off above his head. Thatâs when you heard a voice clear their voice behind you, cause you to turn. Your eyes met the tidal pools people called Steve Rogerâs eyes, and you immediately went in for a side-hug. âFinally, Mr. America makes his appearance tonight,â You announced. Behind you, you heard Natasha mumble something to Thor, and their footsteps pad away to leave you with Steve.
Unknowingly to you, Bucky was watching your every move from across the room. His shoulders had tensed up instantly when you gently hugged Steve, knowing perfectly well drunk-you happened to be very lovey-dovey.Â
âYou look ravishing tonight, Y/N,â Steve commented, looking you up and down, truthfully meaning what he said. That deep red bodycon dress Natasha had made you wear was rather pleasing to the eyes.Â
âWhy thank you, Stevie. You donât look that bad yourself,â You winked. Steve was definitely attractive, more so than normal in a tight dark button down. Just as you were about to run your fingers over Steveâs massive bicep, you mind flittered to another super soldier hunk you knew.Â
Your intoxicated mind quickly flashed memories of Bucky Barnesâs muscles rippling under his skin, and the sweet dipping down his shoulders during training. Oh, how did you love watching him train shirtless. Then usually after training, youâd go get food with him at the dinner a couple blocks away, share an expensive milkshake and talk shit about people together. Man, did you love making Bucky laugh...
âY/N...Y/N? Whereâd you go?â Steve asked, softly gripping your forearms with both hands. God, does that feel good. âSorry, I zoned out for a second,â You said, shaking your head lightly and brushing your fingertips over his arms to bring you back. Steve smiled sweetly at you as you continued talking, remaining at a constant touch.
A couple feet away, Bucky was one action from Steve away from snapping the table in half with his fist. No one and he meant no one, was allowed to touch you like that except him. He knew what Steve was doing, and he couldnât hide the slightest that it was working. Buckyâs stomach was all knotted up in anger and jealousy. He was the one that wanted to touch you lovingly, he was the one that desired most to kiss those gorgeous lips of yours. He was the one that wanted to throw you over his shoulder and take you to his room, he was the one that wanted to rip that dress to shreds and devour you.Â

Just as he made you laugh your beautiful laugh, the one where you threw your head back and happy tears welled in your eyes, Bucky blew his fuse.Â

In the corner of your eye, you saw a figure come into view and catch your attention. Bucky, with the angriest look you have ever seen in your life, was heading right towards you and Steve. âHey, Buck-â You started, before he stepped [in almost a protective stance] in front of you, back blocking your vision. Not that you minded staring at his toned back underneath his shirt.
âSteve, Iâm warning you,â Bucky spoke, his voice an octave lower. You felt the hair on the back of your neck stand up, relishing in the sound of angry Bucky. âWhat ever do you mean, Bucky? I was just standing here having a nice conversation with Y/N,â
âLast chance, Rogers,â He growled again. Everything in your brain knew that whatever was happening was about to get serious, and this time it wasnât just a male testosterone fight.Â
âWait a second, guys. What the hell is going on?â You said, stepping out and between them. Putting a hand on Buckyâs broad chest to make sure he wasnât about to beat Steve into a pulp, you craned your neck to look at Steve. Bucky turned his gaze towards the side of your face, and he lost all self-control when he saw the hair brushed away from your neck, your skin begging him to place his lips on your sweet spot.Â
In a swift motion, Bucky bent down and lifted you over his shoulder like it was nothing. âWhoa, Bucky what are you doing?â You giggled. He only grunted in response and started carrying you away and into the elevator of the penthouse. Steve smiled as he watched you wave at him, knowing he had finally and successfully gotten Buck to a point of no return.

As Bucky got to the elevator and pressed a button he set you down, letting you adjust your dress. âMan, Iâll tell you what Iâve been waiting for you to do that for a while-â
Before you could finish your sentence and even blink, Buckyâs lips slammed into yours. It suddenly felt like time turned to slow-motion as he threaded his hands into yours and pinned you to the wall, biting gently on your lower lip. You moaned into the kiss, tugging on his top lip as his tongue found yours. Oh, how long you have waited to shove your tongue down his throat [not that you wanted to ruin the moment]. But it was all over when Bucky pulled away, backing up as if he realized what he just did. You were so out of breath you couldnât get out a word, added to the excitement of what just happened.Â
âY/N, I-Iâm sorry...I didnât m-mean to do that without asking-â His voice was hoarse from the kiss, driving you mad. âDonât you ever, ever, apologize for that again,â you said, your eyes blown dark with lust. Just as Bucky was about to speak again, you jumped on him and kissed him again, hot and open-mouthed. Thank god for his reflexes or he might not have been able to catch you in time. As the elevator dinged, you two never parted as you pulled his hair just enough to elicit a groan from his throat. He carried you to his room, swiftly opening the door and dropping you over the bed, parting momentarily to breathe again. Pulling off his shirt and moving to hover over you, his steel dark eyes bored into yours.Â
âUnderstand that youâre mine, and only mine.â He said, face mear centimeters from yours.
âProve it, Seargent.â You tested, loving the nickname on your tongue. He cocked his eyebrow just before he started something with you that wouldnât end until the early morning hours, and let's just say the whole tower had heard it.
As your eyes sensed the sunlight filtering in through the window, you growled and rolled over. Your head felt like a freight train ran over it and that sunlight wasnât helping. You may or may not be hungover from the night before.Â
âBucky...â You mumbled, shifting your hand around the bed with your eyes tightly shut, looking for a part of him. âBucky?â You repeated, opening your eyes this time. Looking around the bed, you were met with only sheets and pillows. You were about to be disappointed had completely abandoned you in his room, but as soon as you heard the shower running in his bathroom you let out a relieved sigh. Maybe I should join him for round two, you thought. But before you could, you thought it would be better to let him be and go get coffee for you two and bring it back here.Â
As you unraveled your sheets and stood up, your knees almost buckled beneath you and you felt extremely sore in a certain area. âHoly shit,â You thought to yourself, remembering last night. You tried to walk normally as best you can without wincing, sliding Buckyâs plain white tee and a pair of his shorts on before heading downstairs.
Once you reached the kitchen, you saw Sam, Nat, and Tony at the counter, eating various foods and drinking coffee.Â
âMorning,â You greeted, making your way to the coffee pot.Â
As they all greeted back, you suddenly heard Natasha choke on her drink and Sam starts laughing. Tony stayed oddly quiet. Turning around as you poured the dark liquid into mugs, you eyed Nat suspiciously. She couldnât keep a straight face and Sam couldnât breathe. Tony was smirking into his cup. âHad a fun time with Tinman last night?â He asked, looking up at you. You rolled your eyes, âIt was the clothes that gave it away, wasnât it?â
Sam had another spout of laughter while only Natasha answered back. âNot quite, honey. You have a little something on your neck.â Your nostrils flared as finally, Tony started laughing, immediately you turned to look at the glass walls reflection.Â
You head several, very big, reddish purple bruises around your neck. One just below your jaw, another mid-throat, several around the side, and a rather large one that disappeared below the collar. You gasped, covering the tender skin. âThat son of a bitch!â You picked up the two coffee mugs and headed out, swearing that youâd kick their asses later.
âBUCKY!â You yelled in a playfully-angry tone. He had just gotten out of the shower, towel still wrapped around his waist and hair still dripping wet. God did his chest looks gorgeous in the wet morning light. He turned to you smiling genuinely, right before his eyes caught the blotches on your neck too. He sucked in his bottom lip, covering up a mischevious smile.Â
âYeah, you jerk! Look what you did!â You said, turning into the bathroom, Bucky following you. You looked in the mirror more thoroughly, rather surprised at how big and efficiently he made the bruises. âYou fucking branded me. I have hickeys everywhere!â You pulled up your shirt up slightly to show your stomach, where you found several more, and one on your inner thigh. Bucky couldnât contain it any more a lightly chuckled, coming behind you wrapping his arms around your waist and stomach. You had to admit the cool chrome felt fantastic against your warm skin. âIâm gonna be honest, Babydoll, it was worth it. Now I get the satisfaction that everyone will know you're mine,â He mumbled into your skin as he open-mouthed kissed the back of your neck.Â
âYou're lucky I love you. I still might kick your ass, though.â
