Pete gently pushed Annie towards the door, his hand on her back. “Annie, I don’t want to do this again with you. Just go. I’ve got somewhere to be.”
“But Pete!” she protested, but when he didn’t seem to be having any of it she slammed the tape onto a shelf and turned to the door.
petemacintosh:
And now it made sense why she was here, to scare him. Pete didn’t believe Riker was back, he didn’t believe her. “Annie, I think you should leave.”
"What?!” she couldn’t believe that it was going this bad. “Just watch that tape, just please fucking give me a chance.”
petemacintosh:
“Definitely go to the police then, Annie,” Pete put quite bluntly, too suspicious of her to take this completely serious. “Why are you coming to me with this?” He sounded exhausted.
"Because,” she paused, not sure how to put it into a statement, one he’d believe. “Because I’m afraid that you are also in danger.”
petemacintosh:
Pete was a mix of emotions. Anger, mostly. “I don’t want to see it,” he physically moved away from the thing, like if it touch him he’d contract some sort of disease. “Why haven’t you handed it into the police already?” He demanded.
"I can’t.” she stated. “Not yet.” Annie took a deep breath, looking at the boy before her. “I got a phone call last night. Listen, he knows that I know. I think he’s after me.”

Pete was sceptical. Which was an understatement. This felt like something she could have made up just for attention. “You saw Riker? Here?” He sounded suspicious. “And you were the only person who sa- Wait, what camera?”
Annie had given too much away, she figured, but there was no chance in hell that explaining the situation would go without her having to admit to certain things. So, she had kinda prepared herself for that. “I installed a camera in the house last night. And he found it. And then –– then he killed Erica. I have it recorded. I have it here.” she held out the tape.

Pete tried to interject, to say he didn’t want to hear it, but she carried on talking and all he could do was listen. And then he didn’t know what to say to that. He was confused. “What do you mean you saw her die?” He had many questions concerning that part of her statement. “Who’s house?”
"Yours. Here. This house here. The killer–– Riker was here.” it sounded the way it did but Annie couldn’t at this moment put it better into words. “I saw him–– through the camera. He was there.”

Pete was forcibly pushed aside, he rolled his eyes and closed the door behind her. Pete looked down at the tape in her hand and didn’t know what to think of it. What even was it? He was sure that was supposed to sound more dramatic, but the words didn’t shock him. “I know,” he half-yelled, “So does most of the town. After a murder it isn’t too much of a jump to assume that the town’s serial killer had something to do with it. Good detective work, Annie. And now if you don’t mind…” He finished sarcastically, gesturing to the door.
Annie didn’t feel like there was time for him to be misunderstanding her this much. She turned back to him after he attempted to kick her out and with certain kind of confidence approached him again. “No, hear me out.” she demanded. “I –– I saw Erica Hansen die. He was in the house.”

Pete had spotted her walking up the driveway from his bedroom, deciding to hide at the back of the house and ignore the doorbell. When she persisted however he decided it was best just to tell her to go away. He opened the door to the girl and waited for her impatiently to explain her presence. “There is absolutely nothing we need to talk about, Annie,” Pete sighed agitated, beginning close the door in the woman’s face.
"Wait!” Annie demanded, as she had expected that reaction. She was suddenly back on track, on being Annie, her emotions now focusing on the seriousness of the situation. She stopped the door with her foot, pulling it open and stepping inside, pushing past Pete. She then held out the tape as if to show him. “This. We need to talk about this. Pete, there’s something I need to tell you, I–– I think Riker is back.”
Annie’s heels clicked on the way from the driveway and to the front door. Annie peeked through the window, before knocking harshly, yet desperately on the door. She peeked once again, not seeing any movement. So she repeated the routine for a moment until she could see his figure approaching. Annie clutched onto the tape in her hands and with anticipation waited for the door to open. Once they did, Annie had planned to start the conversation, but at the actual sight of her ex boyfriend the words kinda got stuck in her throat. On the spot she only managed to choke out a; “I need to speak with you.”
