“¿Me escribirás?”

This all was madness to her, not did only they imprisoned one of her friends but also started a war all at once. The moment she heard what had happened she went to her father to tell him that he was making a mistake, but just like when she tried to explain to him that her mother was turned into a bear, he would not listen.
“Oh, shut up, Hiccup!” She snapped at him, frowning at the poison in his voice. Merida made her way towards him, being stopped by the bars that separated them and responding with the same anger in which he spoke to her “You think that I approved of this? That I gave my bloody blessing so my father would put you here? --- ‘Of course, dad, imprison the only person that could help us’ --- I was the first to be against him but he wouldn’t listen, he never listen!”
For the time that he had been here she found a friend, or at least she thought that she had. Hiccup didn’t treat her like if she was less than him and and she enjoyed the time where he would talk to her about dragons and the places that he had traveled. But now she didn’t know what to think about him, not after what he was saying.
"You knew that my father didn’t trust you when you first came to us, our people had always had this suspicious about the other but me and my mother thought that you were different, that you and your people are different and we welcomed you so that we could finally find peace between our lands but if you so obviously want to go ahead and continue with this madness then FINE! You are just as stubborn and stupid as my father!”

“Yes actual dragons. Its funny you Scots believe in demon bears but as soon as someone mentions dragons exist you think we’ve grown a third head or something.”
The people of Berk were at war with them for over three hundred years. Since the first of their clan landed on that island they’ve had nothing but trouble with the dragons. Fighting them and then classifying them as beasts that killed for sport rather than for food or finding out they took orders from a Queen that planned all those attacks on them.
“You see I helped end that three hundred bloodshed with a dragon becoming my best friend. A taboo among my tribe I was considered a traitor for fraternizing with our enemy.”
He looked back for a moment seeing black appendages perk up from within the bush the dragon was hiding in. Shaking his head he looked back to Merry.
“I shot down a dragon on one of the worse raids. A dragon so rare we didn’t know if they existed anymore was apart of the raids. It was known as a Night Fury. So I know I shot it cause I watched it go down over the cliffs. The next day after so many people thinking I didn’t I wanted to take the heart of the dragon to my father to prove myself…but I didn’t kill him. I couldn’t. He was just as scared as I was at that moment so I let him go.”
He looked back behind them again as he made a hand motion. She wasn’t going to believe him. Carefully a black dragon emerged from the bushes as he carefully crossed the magical barrier. His eyes widened and looked at the stone crooning at them before coming over to his rider. Curiously circling them and looking Merry in the eye before coming to Hiccup and placing his head in his lap
“Together. Toothless and I….we freed the dragons from a Queen dragons influence. And in the process I lost my leg. But our friendship grew stronger from that day.”

“Well, that must be because we know that magic excist and we see bears every now and then, unlike dragons that we had only heard of them by stories told by our elders” It was intersting to have someone with other point of view about what she thought was common. She never doubt of the excistance of Mor’du but now she realized that maybe, just like she found incredible interesting and new the idea of dragons being actually real, Hiccup must think the same about their culture.
Merry listen to him with increasing interest, forgetting about the plate of cakes. She had heard her Gran telling her many stories before; of Mor’du, of missing princesses and far away lands, but aside from the storie of her parents dying in the hands of the demon bear and her history lessons, the others were pure fiction. This, this was real. This was his experiences, this was his history.
When he made a hand motion behind her she frowned puzzled, only to turn around and feeling her chest thighen and her heart beats increasing. There, right in front of her, a dragon. Merry was speachless, not knowing what to do but to stare right into the dragon’s eyes. Merry finally turned her head at Hiccup when the dragon walked near him, laying their head placidy on Hiccup’s lap.
“A dragon...” She was bewildered, never have she thought that she would meet one, by the gods, she didn’t thought that she would meet anyone new in her life. “It’s--- It’s amazing, Hiccup” She added looking at the dragon. “He’s beautiful” And not what she expected, her idea of a dragon was very different of what she was seeing right now.

“Well, then the others must be in even worse shape.
…
“Do you want me to kill them?”
“Nah, like you said--- they are in worse shape”

[ When she pulled away from him he immediately sought out her eyes, locking onto them intensely. A smile pulled one side of his lips and his crooked teeth peered through slightly as she joked about his speech. “ Oh, I was a wordsmith alright. ” He chuckled back. When her hand moved to his face he immediately moved into it, eyes closing in a moment of joy to feel her presence again.
“ I’m glad you didn’t stop trying. Now you don’t have to try alone. Now that I am in your service, we should have no problem escaping. ” Hiccup chimed happily, hand going up to grab hers. ]
There was a honest smile upon her face to the thought, yet it soon vanished once she thought about what he was saying. Yes, she didn’t want a crown or being rightly dressed, but she had found her family... if they lose her again, and now that he was with her! They would think that he kidnap her, they would never stop looking for them. Their freedom was doomed even before it started.
“I can’t--- we can’t” She grabbed his hands, giving them a squeeze “as soon as they see me missing again they will go to find us, they will think that you kidnap me and I don’t want to think of what they would do to you...No, we can’t escape” Merida locked her eyes with his “besides, they are my family, Hiccup, I can’t leave them”

Sometimes it’s hard to keep yourself entertained when you live forever. But in a world so vast and constantly changing, most days are easy to make fun. Only those occasional humps of absolute boredom can really get you down. Thankfully, today started with the promise of discovering something new.
A small encampment of people, holding out against the inevitable winter, had settled themselves in a valley to keep out of the howling wind. One big fire pit blazed in the middle, surrounded by a circle of tents. Jack stayed well back from the flames but he couldn’t resist coming a little closer to listen to the stories. Night after night, he came back to hear what happened next or what new story would be told. He always sat near to a little girl, the only child of the whole group it seemed. Her parents looked important, well dressed and wore jewelry.
One night, when they story had ended and bedtime had been declared with no buts, Jack headed back into the forest. He felt relieved to be away from the heat of the fire, back into the snow and cold.
It was not surprise to her to spend a week in a camp as they always did this time of the year. Though her mother always seemed a little reluctant to participate, the King insisted in having his daughter’s birthday party outside the castle, where she could play and run around without having to fear that she would break something or run into someone from the staff.
It was true that her birthday always came with the first snows of the season, as it always was at the begining of december, but Merida was most than happy than stayed there, playing with the snow and keep practicing her archery with the bow that his father gave to her in her last birthday. Merida has improved since that day, but she still needed practice to gain the skills that her father had.
Her afternoons would be spened in that way then, just to end in a cosy campfire, with her mother telling her stories about witches and bears and all sort of things. It was nice, but something that always found curious was the boy that each time would sit next to her, listening to the stories with them. None of the adults seemed to notice him, or at least they didn’t find him threatening.
His hair was white, almost silver, and his eyes were blue. She wondered why nobody seemed to care that he would go back into the forest alone. Didn’t he know that it was dangerous to walk at night in the forest? maybe he had a house there, was he alone? He could stay with them if he wanted, she wouldn’t mind.
“Who’s the boy that comes every night to hear stories, mum?” She asked one day after playing with the snow. The queen looked at her with a raised brow, a little concerned by this question. “Who, darling?” After some explanations the queen just smiled, it was probably an imaginary friend that she had created, seeing that her poor girl didn’t have someone her age to play with “It’s probably a spirit, Merida”
Her eyes widen at this news. A spirit! that was new, and after seen the wisps last time she came here she was sure that her mother was not lying to her. She decided then, that she would talk to him next time.

“Hey, Hey, It’s alright dear, I’m here, I’m here” She shushed her daughter as her hand stroke her face, who was frowning, waking up from a nightmare. She sat down next to her, brushing off her brown hair from her face. “It’s alright, I’ve got you”

For Merida the forest would always be her playground, a place where she could be herself; so of course when Hiccup came to visit they would go there and play around, making races and sometimes just sit and talk, it was much better than being in the castle where most of their movements were being observed.
“Wait, Hiccup, you got leafs on your hair” She said after they sat down to take a rest, her fingers carefully taking the leafs that were stuck in the other’s hair and strocking it slightly, putting everything in place.

It felt like forever since he actually smiled. But he was actually happy to be talking to Merry. Despite her obvious similarities to his long lost friend he was just happy to talk to someone like this. It made him feel less important than he actually was for once.
“The way she acted you’d think she’d seen a ghost. If I was Mor’du would I be here sitting talking to you? I mean I don’t know unless you can speak bear I doubt you’d be talking to him.”
He heard about the devil bear plenty times being in the Bear King’s dinning halls.
“He’s the reason children don’t come into the forest. All the stories we’re told or I’ve heard is that he snatches wee babies and eats them. Uses their bones for toothpicks.”
It was an odd conversation to be having as they were eating cakes so early in the morning.
“But I understand your Gran’s concern. I did…well just show up. I’d be pretty scared too. Considering you have such a heavy spell around the cottage itself. And before you ask I don’t overly believe but every time I cross that little pile of rocks there I feel it become heavier until I’ve passed through. Like a sack of rocks sitting on your chest.”
His faith in magic was very small. He didn’t believe in it. But he knew there were forces that couldn’t be explained as other people said it was magic. But for someone who didn’t overly believe in it, it was hard for him to believe.
“What happened to me? What do you mean by that?”
He followed her gaze down to the metal prosthetic that was attached to his leg as he nodded.
“Well as they say sometimes to gain peace you have to lose something in order to achieve it. As for me I lost it and ended a three hundred year war with the dragons.”
✥ ℱᒪᎩ ᙡᓰ♈ᖺ ᗰᗴ ✥
Merry let out a laugh, shaking her head “Oh, you wouldn’t be Mor’du. Mor’du is SCARY” She leaned a bit closer just to tease him. For some reason it came easy to talk to him, even when they had just met, she felt comfortable around him, as if she didn’t need to worry about everything else. It was a weird feeling. “Mor’du can be very scary” She added while taking the last bite of her cake, wanting to change their conversation, she didn’t need of a reminder of what it was told about Mor’du.
Her eyes opened wide open to the mention of magic, turning her head at him with surprised. He had noticed? was that normal? “It’s a protection spell” She said finally. Why hide what he obviously knew already? It would be easy that way talk to him, she would not have to lie about her Gran or about why she never left the cottage.
“Dragons!?” Merry exclaimed with surprise. She had read a little of history, but in none of her classes had she learned that the war was over, she thought that the vikings were still fighting against them. obviously she needed to ask her gran for new books “Wait, how did that happened? What did you do?” Her curiosity was tickling inside her, something that most of the time got her into troubles. She looked at Hiccup forgetting the cakes, eager to hear his story. She had always loved a good story.
Ignored by them, the witch was observing them closely from the window, hide behind the curtain.
