Solidarität ist keine Nächstenliebe, aber erst recht keine Konditionierung zum Vorteil einer Seite. Wer sich solidarisch verhält, ist bereit, sowohl im langfristigen Eigeninteresse wie im Vertrauen darauf, dass sich der andere in ähnlichen Situationen ebenso verhalten wird, kurzfristig Nachteile in Kauf zu nehmen.

Solidarity is not charity, and certainly not a means of manipulating others for one’s own benefit. Those who act in solidarity are willing to accept short-term disadvantages, both in their own long-term interest and in the confidence that others will act similarly in comparable situations.
